Chapter 3: Underlying Chaos

Going back in time.

As the vibrant rays of twilight cast a magical gloom upon the outskirts, the weary sun, descend in the vast expanse of the sky.

It painted the horizon with a symphony of dark blue, pink, and orange brushstrokes, illuminating the four walls of infrastructures and whispering trees, while casting long shadows that danced upon the long road and wooden stalls that lined up in the street, hinting at the tranquil embrace of nightfall.

In the dimly lit ambiance of the small cafeteria, a young boy enters making the worn linoleum floor beneath his shoes echo softly.

His sharp blue eyes, dark gray hair and pale skin features are hidden beneath the dark denim hooded jacket as he approached the counter with a sense of quiet determination.

His eyes that were sparkling with a mix of curiosity and hunger, scanned the menu board that hung above the counter, where a handful of handwritten options can be read.

A glint of nostalgia can be seen through his eyes.

"One order of your signature noodle soup, please."

It was a gesture caused not only out of hunger but also a connection to his past, for the last time he had eaten such a delicacy was before his transmigration from Earth.

Throughout his pitiful life on earth, it was rare for him to have his favourite noodle soup.

Today, on his 17th birthday, he craved the taste of familiarity even if it meant spending a portion of his currently scarce money.

'The month's due date is in five days and I only have 17,250 star coins for the 50,000 star coins bill every month,' the young man inwardly calculated.

'Fortunately, I got accepted in Edrodorth Academy. I can get a better part-time job and earn more credits by using my identity as a student in the academy.'

'Anyways, It won't matter even if I spend a little more today right?'

After a while waiting at the counter, his order finally came up. He did not mind the seemingly steamed hot bowl and continued to hold it along with him to find a place to eat.

Sitting on an empty table at the corner of the cafereria, he fixed his gaze on a television placed at the bottom of the menu for the customers to view.

[320TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HISTORIC EVENT OCCURED IN ARCHAIC MOUNTAIN]

A woman in a formal attire who was holding a microphone is reporting on the screen. She is about to interview the man that made it possible for human civilization to evolve and exist up to this day.

"Here he comes! Here he comes!" the lady hurriedly said while quickening her steps toward the location of a man whose feature was of a 60-year-old man. "Venerable Alastor! Can you give a short message about the human domain especially the young promising ones?" she excitedly asked.

The man who exudes a monarch prestige with sharp jaw but gentle eyes that matched his calming grey hair and beard, smiled before taking the microphone.

"With me here, no one can distrupt the peace of humanity. And for the young generation, keep on improving because once the old retires, the responsibility of protecting humanity will be yours."

Loud cheering, hands clapping and blind praising followed suit after the short message of Venerable Alastor.

'Heh... lies, there are thousands of people out there in lower town district who was abused because of the strong bullying the weak. Is that what you call peace?'

The young boy who was watching the news disagreed.

Ever since he was transmigrated into this world, he was filled of thirst for adventure, eager to do the things he had longed for back on Earth.

However, a bitter truth swiftly descended upon him, an icy reality that struck him like a bucket of cold water drowning his expectation.

Everything in this world were similar to his previous planet— clothing, advanced technologies, and even towering modern skyscrapers. The only clear disparity lay in the supreme reign of power, this realm has the presence of mana.

In this world, humans awakened extraordinary abilities earning them the title of "Chosen".

Chosens enjoyed the priviledge of an elite resulting in the people here to strive for power, and rendering education such as science and mathematics are just an option.

Who would concern themselves with intellectual prowess when you have absolute power?

Initially, the boy's heart leapt with exhilaration at the prospect of newfound freedom.

No more prison and no more abusive boss.

When he got his potential at the age of 10, he thought that he would have at least an A rank growth limit. But alas, a miserable realization shattered his excitement, he has an E rank growth talent— a trash of all talents.

'Why is my birthday the same as that historical event? If that occasion was light to humanity, then I am the dark consequence that happen.'

Clouded in the thoughts about negative energy surrounding his birthday, he erased all of this because today was his first proper meal.

Holding the steaming bowl in his left hand, he grabs the chopsticks with his right hand and eventually he excitedly eat the soup.

With each mouthful of noodles, his long-lost satisfaction, intertwined with memories of his past that embraced him in a familiar feeling.

While savoring the delicacy, his phone in his pants vibrate three times before he take notice.

He put down the bowl and chopsticks before grabbing the device. In a rectangular cracked screen, he opened the poped up notification.

"A demonic beast outbreak will occur inside the Axel Hospital of Lishing street in a few minutes. It is advisable to retreat 200 meter radius at the place of event. Please evacuate as soon as possible. -Axel Hospital."

'Sh*t, I need to hurry! my sister was in danger!'

Filled with urgency, he rushed to the counter and tossed a few star coins enough to pay his whole order even though he half-finished the whole bowl.

"Young lad, It's not ethical to waste food!"

The young man disregarded the words of the cook and continued to run without stopping.

Lishing street.

Peoples' commotion can be heard in every corner outside the perimeter of the upcoming outbreak when a loud voice resounded.

"I heard the famous Lucas Morgaux is here, We're saved!"

"I also heard Moon Goddess Fia is here!"

"I heard she's already C rank and she's only 18!"

"If my daughter can just be as good as her *sigh*"

Inside the portable headquarter laid down by the Blue Quartz Guild, an exquisite figure with feminine grace was flipping through the pages of a book. Bathed in the soft glow of the dimly lit tent, her presence exuded an air of icy elegance, an ethereal beauty that left onlookers in awe.

She is Fia Quinteval, the youngest daughter of the Quinteval Family, a subsidiary of the renowned Elpizo Guild.

With every turn of the page, her slender fingers delicately danced. Her face, as if sculptured from a fine marble, radiated a frigid allure. While her eyes, a mesmerizing hue of white and grey, contain an ocean of mystery.

"Miss, the outbreak will start in a few minutes, please get ready," murmured the suited man standing behind her.

"John, only speak when I request information," Fia replied irritably. John, her family-assigned butler, was entrusted with her protection.

"Your father is just concerned Miss, This is your first demonic beast raid after all."

"Isn't the boss merely a D-rank? I can handle that much."

"But Miss, you just had a breakthrough to C rank not long ago—" the butler attempted to refute but he was silenced by the heavy voice of the individual seated before her.

"Leave." Fia commanded sternly.

Resigned, the butler have no choice but to stand outside the tent.

"HaHaHa John, I actually guess that you will be shoo by Miss Fia," Lucas laughed toward the butler after seeing him stepping out of the tent.

"At least I'm not the first to be thrown out," John replied.

Lucas smiled bitterly at the butler's response.

Meanwhile, a young boy with unwavering determination raced through the chaotic street, his heart pounding in sync with urgency.

*Huff* *Huff*

His breaths became irregular with each step as he moved forward, closing the distance to the hospital where his sister lay confined.

Time was running out and the threat of demonic beast outbreak made it crucial for him to reach the hospital in time.

As he arrived at the hospital vicinity, he encountered a bustling scene with personnels managing the crowd to ensure safety.

"That's a relief, they rescued the patients."

Desperate to find his sister, he scanned the faces in a place where patients were gathered. However, he couldn't spot her.

A sudden realization came to his mind. The personnels only rescued those people with money and status.

"No, no, no no!" he said with worried heart.

Panicking, the young man's desperation trascended reason.

Ignoring the guards' attempt to stop him, he pushed past them and dashed recklessly into the hospital, brushing away their ranks, driven solely by his will to save his sister.
