Chapter 12: C-1.12

"If I'm honest then I think that Zelda wouldn't want you to be sad about her. If you were as important to each other as I think you were, then I think that she would rather have you not be happy and think about those happier times you talked about. But then again, I don't really know her so what do you think, would she want you to be sad?" I saw her think about my words...

"No, I don't thinks so. Although I don't really know, most of my memories are filled with fighting lessons or cooking. She only rarely appears in them..."

"But you think that you have a deeper relationship with her?"

"Yes."

"Mhm, how about this. Would you want me to feel bad if something happened to you?" She seemed a bit surprised at me asking that.

"I don't see why this would matter..."

"Humor me."

"I probably wouldn't..." She drawls on, just a bit embarrassed but not enough to make whole face blush but I could see her ears getting a bit red.

"So, you wouldn't want me to feel bad even though we barely know each other for a few hours... and Zelda whom you have known for years, would probably want the same for you, but even stronger."

"I guess so..."

"Linkle, look. Feeling bad doesn't change anything. So how about you simply use the time that you spend being sad, with other stuff. If you say cooking reminds you of better times, just start thinking about it, every time you start thinking about her facing Ganon. Or you could, for example, start training and preparing for our face-off with Ganon. Or maybe you can try to remember something else about her.

But at the same time, I don't think that you should simply ignore or even throw away your feelings for her but rather embrace them. If you spent as much time with her as you think you did, then she was someone very important to you and you should never simply forgot that. While you aren't quite the same person after waking up without memories, you still are you. So, I would recommend focusing on saving her for now and not doing something that you might regret. After all you can simply spend more time with her, after we saved her. And if you get back all your memories then it's even better...

So, come on, don't be so sad..."

And while she didn't answer me, I could feel her think about what I said, before her face changes to a determined one. And her previously sad smile was replaced with a small but still happy one…

"Thanks, Cid."

"You're welcome, Linkle."

And we simply started eating the stew in a comfortable silence. Soon everything Linkle made was eaten, which is when she abruptly stood up.

"Ok, now that this is done, let's finally start going towards Kakariko." I simply nodded. She then started putting everything back into her S-Slate, while I just awkwardly stood next to her, not really sure what to do. After all I don't really know how do what she did, at least without permanently damaging something...

After she finished that, she looked towards me and motioned towards a direction, looking in that direction I was able to see some ruins.

"Let's go to those ruins next, they should be on our way, and we can never have enough weapons."

"Sure."

"Wanna race there? Whoever loses got to do something the other one asks? Within reason, of course..." I looked at her weirdly. I mean she should know that me jumping is a lot faster than her gliding, even if she can glide all the way to the ruins in one go. But who knows maybe she got some kind of plan that lets her be there faster, although I doubt it....

"Why not?" But then again not agreeing would also be stupid and being able to make her do something could be a great way to tease her... I see her shudder at my smile. Heh.

"You ready?" She asks me, to which I simply nod.

"Well then, let's go!" But instead of starting to glide instantly she pulls out something from her S-Slate, a shield, which she holds in her left hand. Then she pulls out something else... a small blue square. Which I instantly recognized as one of the two bombs in the game...

Oh no, she wouldn't. But before I can say anything. She simply sets it down onto the floor, positions herself in front of it and then...

*BOOM*

She really launched herself with a bomb... but then I realized something. If she keeps the speed that she just got because of her launch, then I could really lose this small race. Which is why I decided to waste no more time and start sprinting towards the edge, where, with every bit of power that I got in me, jump forward. Only to notice that while I still am a bit faster than Linkle, I am getting closer and closer to her, I probably will not be fast enough considering I can't just keep my speed for as long as she can.

And just as I thought about that, I started falling. Faster and faster until...

*BOOM*

I hit the ground, but instantly I jumped again trying to still win this race. Then I repeat this over and over again. Until I finally arrive at the ruins... only so see Linkle waiting for with one of the biggest smiles I have seen on her face...

"Heh, didn't expect that did you? This is why I am the teacher and not you... sometimes brute forcing your way through everything doesn't work." Well, she isn't wrong, but...

"Considering that you won this race, because you used the power of an explosion, I don't think you can lecture me about brute forcing..." At the very least she had the decency to look a bit ashamed. "But still. A loss is a loss... so what do you want me to?" She seemed to think about it for a bit.

"I think I am going to save this one... maybe there will be a better opportunity later. Let's look around here first. Who knows, maybe we will find another mask here?" As if we would be that lucky...

"Yeah, sure."

- 1 hour later -

"I can't believe it..." I heard Linkle say, "how can there only be rusted weaponry? You would think an outpost has at least some high quality weapons, but no everything rusted within a measly 100 years." A measly 100 years, she says.

"I don't think there are a lot of weapons that can with stand a 100 years of time, without rusting. Be happy we at least found a bow." And we actually did find one, a travelers Bow, which isn't the best weapon but still better than nothing.

"I guess..." She pouts. I can only shake my head at her, honestly... We already searched the whole outpost, only to find nothing of interest. No survivors, no good weaponry and no Bokoblins or other kinds of monsters. The last one isn't too bad, but still... The only thing weird is that every few minutes I was able to hear rumbling, but only in the south-east parts of the outpost. It almost sounded like something moved through stone...

"Linkle, while I, too, am very sad that we didn't find anything good here, we can't do anything about it... I have one question though. I heard some kind of rumbling in that direction," I pointed towards the south-east, "do you know what it could be?" She seemed to think over what I said.

"Rumbling? Did it sound like something moved through the ground?" I nodded. She seemed to ponder for a bit. "Hm... could be a Stone Talus. They are basically small, moving mountains. We should be able to deal with one of them. And the rubies we could get from selling it's loot would be quite helpful... let's go see if we can find it." She then starts moving towards the direction I pointed towards.

After walking for a bit, we left the outpost, while the rumbling that I heard only grew in noise. And soon we were able to see a small rock, with some kind of glowing ore deposit on top of it.

"Yeah, that's definitely a Stone Talus… although I haven't heard of them having Luminous Stone as a core. But we should be able to destroy it, as long as it isn't way stronger than their normal variant. You should be able to just jump onto it's back and destroy that ore deposit, it's where it is the weakest. Everything else is just solid stone, and any damage not done to its core it can repaired, by simply ripping out stone from the ground."

Yeah, I think I remember something like that. Some kind of attack where it destroys its hand, which it then can repair…

"Yeah, I should be able to do that…"

"Good. I will try to distract it and every time I get the chance send arrows towards its core. In case that it is too strong just run, Stone Talus in general are very slow, so in worst case we can just attack it from far away.

Well then, you ready?"
