Chapter 2: Transfer Student

"I don't know why, but when I heard the Chi Yun song earlier, I wanted to cry. Now that I hear her talk, I'm a little sad for her since she wasn't able to experience something at her age."

"My focus might be off. What I'm more curious about is... why does she want to go to school after all these years?"

"What's so strange about that? If I were her, I would also want to go to school like everyone else. Everyone wants to experience something they haven't done before."

...

Today's top 10 trending topics were almost completely dominated by the same person, with countless netizens commenting on each post.

Star Entertainment's top pianist composer, Chi Yun, was currently trending.

[Chi Yun, the young pianist, released her first album.]

After the title, there was the word "trending.".

There were photos of her last night playing the piano.

...

Principal Sun led Chi Yun to his office.

Alone at last, he asked her in a cheerful voice, "Chi Girl, how come you decided on enrolling here at No. 1 High School? "

Even now, the memory of their first meeting is still fresh in his mind.

He was on official business, and he just happened to drop by the primary school in Chi Yun's school for a regular inspection.

When he arrived, a bunch of children were frolicking on the playground. To the side, however, sat a little girl. She looked pensive as she quietly watched her classmates play.

Before he knew it, Principal Sun had already approached her. "Hello, child. May I ask what you are thinking about? "

The girl perched her chin on her hand and gave him a look that said, "You wouldn't understand, anyway." But out loud, she said, "I was speculating that those kids must be mentally deficient in some way."

That took him aback. His eyebrows had almost flown up to his hairline. "What makes you think that? "

What she said next brought him the shock of his life.

Chi Yun's eyes were clear and steady, though her small voice was laced with confusion. "I mean, when they were five years old, they couldn't even understand the concept of high-order derivatives. Now that they've all turned seven, they still couldn't figure out the differential mean value theorem."

Principal Sun felt as though his soul had left his body.

His initial reaction was to take offense, as he himself had struggled with the differential mean value theorem when he had first encountered it at sixteen.

As he observed Chi Yun, however, he soon realized that she hadn't made the remark to be arrogant or condescending. She had merely been speaking her mind.

Principal Sun then proceeded to ask her several related questions, and to his delight, her responses were spot-on and consistent.

Since that fateful day, he has made a point of keeping tabs on this cheeky little genius.

Eventually, he had come to learn that the girl had no interest in getting a formal education. He had repeatedly tried to persuade her to no avail, and he had no choice but to give up in the end. Now, though, this brat has actually taken the initiative to come to his doorstep. Principal Sun couldn't help but feel like a pie had fallen from the sky and landed right on his lap. It was so surreal that he still couldn't quite wrap his head around this development.

"Anyway, you'll be assigned to Year 2 Class 1. Just wait for a moment, okay? Teacher Lin Mei will be here in a second."

After a second, a teacher in her mid-twenties entered the room.

Judging from her age and how she's the homeroom teacher in class 1, she must be a good teacher.

He turned around and saw Principal Sun and Teacher Lin from Class 1 with a girl; he didn't see her face. She was not worth his time. He then stood up and stopped punching the boy.

"Scram!" he said fiercely.

"Principal Sun, I will go pick up my study materials with teacher Lin," she said politely.

He heard a soft, feminine voice. It was only after hearing the lady's voice that the boy reacted and looked in that direction. His Phoenix eyes were no longer careless.

He saw a girl standing beside the homeroom teacher in class one. She had exactly the same pair of dark green eyes as him, like it was the exact carbon copy. She also had pale skin that looked like snow, a small, pointed nose, long eyelashes, and red, rosy lips. Her long, wavy, faded silver hair that falls gently around her midback and double eyelid eyes that charm anyone who stares back at it.

He had guessed the identity of the girl when he saw her face. Then his eyes fell on the girl again, and he felt bitter in his heart. The same bitterness soon clouded his tongue. With the same expression again, he punched the one he was punching a minute ago.

"Chi Caishen! You bastard! You are hitting me again!" Lin Yu yelled at the top of his lungs. "Just because Boss Zhan is absent doesn't mean you will disrespect the treaty signed by both of you."

"Fuck you and your lousy Boss Zhan," Chi Caishen provoked the young man.

"Fuck your m*ther!" Lin Yu grabbed his collar, and Lu Xuan moved to punch his jaw, but he was grabbed by someone by his collar.

"Chi Caishen and Lin Yu! Ten laps of the playground again!" The discipline teacher shouted at the unruly teenagers.

"Bastard!" Lin Yu muttered under his breath when he completed one lap. He was a sports student; completing ten laps was nothing out of the ordinary for him. But getting punished by the discipline teacher because of Chi Fucking Caishen! It was unbearable for him.

Chi Caishen was finishing his lap as if he were a ghost. He was unable to get rid of the image of that woman. Why has she returned now? After such a long time? It wasn't as though she was needed here.

"Chi Caishen! Your phone is ringing!" His self-proclaimed best friend, Li Wei, shouted from the bleachers.

"Who is calling?" Chi Caishen grumbled under his breath. This better be urgent!

"Old Bastard!" the boy shouted.

Chi Caishen winced at the picture of Old Bastard, aka his father, calling him. Another unneeded person in his life.

"Li Wei. Four laps. Quick!" The teacher shouted.

"Wait a minute, teacher Xu. Chi Caishen. Old Bitch is calling too!" Li Wei shouted. "Oh, Chi Caishen, bitch sounds so cool on your mom's number."

"She's not my mom!" Chi Caishes shouted back.

"Eight Laps. Li Wei!" The discipline teacher shouted.

...

Lin Mei smiled. "Come on, let's hurry to your first class."

Chi Yun hum tentatively then, before turning away and walking ahead.

"They're livelier than usual," Lin Mei offered helplessly.

She pushed the door to the side and stepped inside, then turned to check on Chi Yun one last time. The girl had her eyes lowered, which made one think that she was nervous about her new surroundings. "Don't be afraid," Lin Mei encouraged. "Your classmates are actually very friendly. Get ready to introduce yourself so that everyone can get to know you."

Then she made a beeline for the table sitting in front of the class, lifted it a few inches in the air, and then slammed it back down on the floor. "Quiet!" Lin Mei roared at the top of her lungs. "Settle down and be quiet!"

Despite her efforts, however, the noise barely diminished.

Lin Mei was exhausted with this endless cycle of contention between her and these mischievous kids. They may be in class 1, but they were still as mischievous as the other class.

Just as she was racking her brains on what to do, a sudden hush fell in the room.

She looked up to see most of the students gaping at the figure behind her.

Beams of sunlight were streaming through the window at this time, and they fell perfectly on Chi Yun, casting her in a golden glow.

Lin Mei braced both of her hands on either side of the table and smiled. Though she sometimes felt defeated by this class, her fighting spirit had never failed her. She was always ready to try again, determined to whip these students into shape. "I believe you already heard that a female student has just transferred into our class," she announced.

"Now, let us welcome our new classmate with a warm round of applause."

Lin Mei took the lead and clapped her hands before turning to Chi Yun, who was still lingering by the door. "Come in, Chi Yun. Say hello to everyone."

Class 1 may have the title of "the brain of Year 2," but in reality, it has always been a place where good things seldom happen and bad things certainly never go away.

Yet with the arrival of this transfer student, they had become the subject of jealousy for all the classes on campus.
