Chapter 28: Chapter 28: The Aesthetic Representative of the Animal Kingdom - "Little Steel"

Sitting opposite in the compartment, a round-faced chubby boy also refused to be outdone and introduced himself, "I'm Neville Longbottom, but you can just call me Neville. And this is my pet, 'Trevor.'"

As he spoke, the chubby boy held up the toad he was referring to. After introducing Trevor, he glanced at Bell with a kind of look that sought recognition. Bell looked utterly bewildered.

"Do we know each other? Besides, I really don't care what that toad's name is."

As Bell's gaze shifted to Neville, Trevor in Neville's hands suddenly leaped with lightning speed to the shadow behind Neville, trembling.

Trevor had never felt so safe by his owner's side. It vowed never to plan an escape again; freedom could go to hell!

It seemed that the experience of almost becoming toad sauce had left poor Trevor with a psychological shadow that would never fade in its lifetime. Whether Neville would be thankful to Bell if he could understand Trevor's thoughts remained a question.

"You can call me Hermione too. Bell, you just used magic, didn't you? The first spell was 'Scourgify,' right? What was the second spell? Are you from a wizarding family? Do you know a lot of magic? What do you usually do at home..."

( ̄△ ̄;)

Watching the excited little witch in front of him and listening to her endless stream of questions, Bell felt a headache coming on.

"Oh my god! Have you lost your mind? I just want some peace and quiet! Is that too much to ask!?"

"Ah~!"

(ο`*))

Bell couldn't remember how many times he had sighed today. To cope with the little witch's questions, he had to summon a bit of mental strength. Well, he raised his posture by about 2 centimeters.

"I did use magic just now; the first spell was indeed 'Scourgify'; the second spell is called 'Gust Sweep,' it's good for removing odors; I am from a wizarding family; I know quite a few spells... um..."

After some thought, Bell finally gave up and asked, "What was your next question again?"

There was no way Bell was fully present now. Normally, after hearing something once, he wouldn't forget it for a while. But now? Just knowing that the other person was speaking to him was enough, especially since the little witch was cute and reminded him of Shana.

Hermione blushed. After asking her questions, she realized she had gotten carried away again. Asking a bunch of questions all at once was really rude.

But she didn't expect Bell to actually answer all her questions one by one without showing impatience. Except for her parents, this was the first time someone had taken her questions seriously.

If Bell knew what Hermione was thinking at the moment, he would probably sneer.

What were these questions? Over the years, he had developed nerves of steel from dealing with his curious little sister, so a few questions from her wouldn't faze him at all.

"Bell, can you show me some magic?" Hermione asked eagerly. She was really eager to see more magic.

━┳━━┳━

"No! It's too troublesome..." Bell slid down another 2 centimeters and decisively refused.

He didn't want to talk now, let alone perform magic. He didn't want to do anything; he just wanted to be a quiet salted fish.

"I-I'm sorry..."

Seeing the small witch in front of him looking so sad, as if she was about to cry, Bell felt a bit guilty, as if he were a big villain stealing a little girl's lollipop. He felt a twinge of guilt in his heart.

"Ah~!"

"Okay, okay. But suddenly asking me to perform magic, I don't know what to do. Let me think..."

After a moment of silence, Bell took out a pen from his pocket. Yes, just a pen. It's already the 20th century; Bell wouldn't use quills like those old-fashioned wizards, would he?

Of course, except for quills that had been enchanted. Because of their structure, it was easier to cast spells on quills compared to pens.

With his wand slipping into his hand from his sleeve, Bell tapped the pen with his wand. The pen quickly transformed into a small owl. Let's call it "Little Steel" for now. After all, even a crying toad had its own name. As the aesthetic representative of the animal kingdom, it would be too indecent if the transformed owl didn't have its own name.

Little Steel chirped twice, then flew around the compartment twice, observing the situation inside, before finally landing on Hermione's shoulder and rubbing its head against her face.

"Hoot~ hoot~"

"..."

Bell swore it wasn't him controlling Little Steel to do this. He was a decent person, really.

Neville widened his eyes in disbelief, looking at Bell.

"Haven't we agreed that none of us are good at this? How did you suddenly become so good? You traitor!"

Neville felt deceived; this was a malicious lie. His young heart was deeply wounded, and he could no longer trust love... cough, trust others.

Grandma's words were true after all: the world outside was treacherous, and honest people like himself were easily deceived. He had to be extra careful. Only Trevor's slippery and cool touch could slightly soothe his injured soul.

Looking at the small owl on her shoulder, Hermione jumped up excitedly from her seat.

"So amazing! This is really amazing! How did you do it? It's just like Professor McGonagall! Do you know Professor McGonagall? She's the Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I'm from a Muggle family, and when I first received the Hogwarts acceptance letter, my parents thought it was a prank; they didn't believe in magic at all. Then Professor McGonagall came to my house to prove the existence of magic. She just tapped a teacup with her wand, and that teacup turned into a mouse. Our whole family was amazed."

Holding Little Steel in front of her, Hermione examined it excitedly, her ears turning red with excitement.

Little Steel felt just like a real owl when touched, and she had always thought that transfigured animals just looked like it, like an illusion. She didn't expect that it would feel just like real fur. It was really amazing!

Looking at Little Steel on her shoulder, Hermione silently criticized Professor McGonagall in her heart. They were both women, so why did she have to transform into a mouse? It made her too scared to touch it at the time.

...

Suddenly, Hermione thought of something. Her face turned visibly pale at an alarming rate, even her lips turned white, and cold sweat kept pouring down her forehead.
