Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Ruthless Sakazuki

"What's that?"

The thunderous noise in the sky reverberated loudly, causing the pirates and marines still locked in combat to instinctively raise their heads and gaze upwards.

Upon witnessing the fiery red sky, their reactions were delayed as they beheld what appeared to be a meteor hurtling through the sky at incredible speed, its trajectory foreboding, dominating the skyline.

"It's magma!"

The trio in the air swiftly identified the descending mass, recognising it as colossal lava fists.

"Magma, Sakazuki's ability."

Both Garp and Sengoku reacted promptly. Given the nature of the substance, only Sakazuki possessed the capability to wield it. While they had observed Sakazuki employing magma fists earlier, they hadn't given it much thought until now, but witnessing its descent, they realised its formidable power, akin to a flaming meteor engulfing the sky.

The Golden Lion Shiki, airborne, found himself in the path of the massive lava fist. Despite his efforts to manoeuvre the floating mountains and pirate ships around him, evading the overwhelming celestial assault proved futile. Like a veritable volcanic eruption and meteoric impact, it struck with ferocity. Countless peaks crumbled under the onslaught, reduced to rubble, while even the sturdy pirate ships bore the brunt of the assault, their sterns ablaze. The sky turned a fiery red, the falling meteoric lava punches were the only spectacle.

"Boom!"

Finally, the magma descended like a meteor shower, primarily targeting the pirates at the bay's entrance. Most of the magma landed on this area, wreaking havoc on pirate ships unfortunate enough to be within its reach. The devastation extended to the defensive structures and the ground of the Marine Headquarters base. Upon impact, the magma's power amplified significantly, igniting everything in its path and causing explosive eruptions, mercilessly consuming all in its wake.

The cacophony of screams filled the air. Marineford had transformed into a landscape of flames in an instant. Lives were mercilessly claimed by the falling magma, with countless pirates meeting their end beneath its scorching heat. The once bustling bay now lay in ruins, engulfed in flames and chaos.

Not only were the pirates affected, but the marines left behind also suffered. Many who failed to flee the magma's range perished under the onslaught, their desperate cries echoing across the Marine Base.

"Run! It's Vice Admiral Sakazuki's magma. Stay in the sea or else you'll be burnt alive."

"Save me! I don't want to die! My wife and children are waiting for me at home!"

"Why would Vice Admiral Sakazuki attack us? I refuse to accept this!"

These were the desperate pleas of the marines and pirates alike, their voices drowned out by the chaos and destruction unfolding around them.

Both the Marines and the pirates stood dumbfounded by the unfolding catastrophe. While many Marines had been inadvertently killed, they couldn't deny the devastating blow dealt to the Flying Pirate Group, far outweighing any collateral damage.

"Sakazuki, is this your new tactic?" Marine Fleet Admiral Kong's astonishment was palpable. Despite the inadvertent casualties, he recognised the strategic advantage Sakazuki's actions had bestowed upon them.

"Cruel indeed," remarked Kuzan, who had managed to shield numerous Marines from the lava fist's onslaught.

Kizaru's expression mirrored Kuzan's sentiment, though he remained composed, accustomed to such large-scale attacks in dire situations.

"Vice Admiral Sakazuki truly is formidable," acknowledged one of Sakazuki's admirers.

Meanwhile, on the pirate ship above, Garp and Sengoku restrained the Golden Lion, with Sengoku declaring, "Golden Lion, your defeat is inevitable. Today, you won't escape Marineford."

Gazing down at the devastated pirates below, the Golden Lion roared with laughter. "Escape? What a ludicrous notion, Sengoku. We've been old friends. When have you seen the Golden Lion to flee from adversaries?"

Determined to confront his greatest adversary, Roger, face-to-face, the Golden Lion had never entertained the thought of retreat. Despite sustaining heavy losses, he acknowledged Sakazuki's formidable new tactic.

"Sengoku, Garp, come at me! The sky's my arena, and today, I'll defeat you!"

With tensions escalating and the stakes higher than ever, Garp and Sengoku locked eyes, understanding that the outcome of this battle rested upon their shoulders. Victory against the Golden Lion would spell the collapse of the beleaguered Flying Pirates, securing a decisive win for the Marines.
