Chapter 50: Ghost From the Past (2)

Raven walked back to the bed and gently nudged Penelope awake.

"Penny, there's something I need to tell you," Raven began, his voice gentle yet firm. Penelope stirred, her eyes fluttering open as she looked up at him with a mixture of sleepiness and curiosity.

"What is it?" she asked, concern lacing her words as she sat up, her gaze searching his face for answers.

Taking a deep breath, Raven sat beside her, their shoulders barely touching. "Last night, there was a call for you," he started, choosing his words carefully. "It was Lance Oliver."

Penelope's eyes widened in surprise at the mention of Lance's name, a myriad of emotions flickering across her features. She swallowed hard, trying to steady her racing heart as she struggled to process the news. Lance Oliver was a ghost from her past, a memory she had buried deep in the recesses of her mind.

"What did he want?" Penelope finally managed to ask, her voice barely above a whisper.
