Chapter 16: Two Ways
"Then why are you trying to leave me when I'm trying to do what's right"
Tony then sat down and backed pepper while exhaling a deep breath before continuing
"All my life I have been making weapons, lost and going the broad way to the long things when I could just do the right thing and that's the same reason I shut down the company or tried to in this case. You stood by my side all these years when I reaped the benefit of destruction and now I'm trying to help people you want to leave?"
"You're going to die if you keep this up Tony"
"I die if I leave it going either way, the way I see it, it's either I stay and die doing nothing or try to do good and die, all I'm trying to say is don't leave Pepper!"
Tony said in a playful pleading tone
At the hearing of the last few words, pepper's eyes showed she conceded, Tony then went ahead to breath out and told pepper
"If you're not busy I would like you to go to my office and hack into the mainframe to shipping manifest"
Tony proceeded to give her the a USB like flashdrive
"This is a lock chip, it'll get you in, it's probably under executive files, if not they put it on ghost drive in which case you have to look for the lowest numerical case… and on your way there, I need you to check on Yinsen for me"
"You're all I have too Tony"
Was all Pepper said before she picked up the USB and walked away.
This reaction and outcome definitely stunned Tony but his thoughts were;
'Did she even hear me?'
Meanwhile Obi was seated on a couch somewhere, watching the news where Rhodey came on stand and said it was a trainings exercise in their training ground and to whom it may concern, although it lead to the destruction of two F22 raptors, they were pleased to announce that the pilots were totally unharmed.
Obi seemed upset at this as he walked out of the building headed to the vehicle and drove to the stark Tower.
Reaching there he saw Miss Potts who triggered his curiosity going into the company, so he followed her, not being obvious but also watched her enter Tony's office which was very suspicious and that was when his mind clicked that Tony was onto him and he needed to do something.
That something in this case happened to be increasing the speed at which the scientists he worked with finished the prototype of the Mark 1 suit Tony made from his time in the Cave.
Obadiah was now conflicted on how this should progress, on one hand he had to go to check up on their progress and hopefully they give good news on the other hand he had to think of how to deal with Pepper.
If he lets Pepper go with whatever she finds, because with Tony by her side she'll definitely find something, but Pepper would come back with the authorities for him and that would not be good for his plan giving him lesser time to act.
