Chapter 5: the after story
After class during the break, the students gathered together to get to know each other better.
"Now, let's introduce ourselves," Mina suggested with a cheerful smile.
"I'm Mina Ashido, and my quirk is Acid," she introduced herself, setting the tone for the others.One by one, the students took their turns:
"I'm Tenya Iida, and my quirk is Engine."
"I'm Ochaco Uraraka, and my quirk is Gravity."
"I'm Kyoka Jiro, and my quirk is Earphone Jack."
The introductions continued down the line until it was Momo Yaoyorozu's turn.
"I'm Momo Yaoyorozu, and my quirk is Creation."
As the introductions went on, Deku's turn eventually came.
"I'm Izuku Midoriya, and my quirk is nonexistent," he said, causing a collective gasp of surprise from everyone.
"What... WHAT?" The incredulous expressions on their faces mirrored their shock."What does 'nonexistent' even mean?" Momo voiced the confusion that everyone felt.
"I mean literally non-existent," Deku clarified, observing the puzzled look on Momo's face.
Deku gestured for Momo to come closer, saying, "Okay, come here." She complied, standing beside him."Now, touch me," Deku instructed. Momo reached out her hand to touch Deku, but her hand passed right through him.
"You see, my quirk allows me to change my mass freely. So when I make my mass zero—""You become nonexistent. Anything that exists needs mass to occupy space, but if you don't have any mass, you don't exist in the universe. According to the laws of existence, you don't exist," Momo interrupted, grasping the concept.
Deku continued, "And that's exactly my quirk. I can change my mass, but my shape and size remain the same."Momo's analytical mind went to work. "So, the state you're in is like projecting your consciousness into reality, like a hologram."
"Right... I hadn't really thought about it that way. I just knew my quirk did this, and I left it at that. But Momo, you could be my support, giving me ideas for my quirk, considering it deals with science and studying, which isn't exactly my strong suit."
"Okay, Izuku, I'll do that," Momo agreed, her cheeks tinged with a blush.
"Oooo, already on a first-name basis, huh?" Mina playfully teased.
