Chapter 6: Chp. 4
Erica and Isaac waited with bated breathes on the command from their Alpha. Nobody moved a muscle until Boyd behind the three spoke up. "Who are you?" He asked. His words snapping her out of the daze, Erica now got a good look at the stranger. 'Wow.' She thought to herself with a blush creeping up her cheeks. "Yeah Derek who is this cutie?" Erica repeated the question this time directing it to her Alpha. She could not catch Fanes scent and he smelled like a normal human.
Isaac was the only pack member to notice the shocked look on Dereks' face. "We can't just stand here. This guys is normal. He could rat us out if he leaves here! I'm already a fugitive!" And without thinking, Isaac rushed Fane. "Isaac stop! He's not normal!" Derek shouted but it was not in time. Isaac swung his right hand claws towards Fanes neck. All Fane had to do was swat his hand away. Transforming his own hand into his claws he grabbed Isaac by the neck. "You young pups really need to understand your place!" Fane growled flexing his claws into Isaac's neck. Alarmed Erica jumped towards Fane while he was talking. Unfortunately for her it was the same results. Fane turned toward Derek, holding both his Betas in the air by their necks while the gasp for air. " You really should teach these pups some manners. Are you ready to talk now or are you gonna let your young ones fight your battles for you?" Fane mocked him. He tossed the betas to Derek's feet.
Derek bent over and checked on his pack memebers. Standing back up Derek transformed and roared. Fane started to walk towards him. When he got about a few feet away Derek tackled him through the nearest wall. Derek went on the offensive while Fane was on the ground and kicked him into the air onto the bleachers. Fane let Derek grab him by the collar and punch him a couple times in the face. Derek grabbed him by the back of Fanes shirt and threw him back into the room they started in. The three pack members watched intently never seeing their Alpha this focused and angry before. Fane finally had enough of Derek throwing him around. 'Figured I deserved that for leaving Laura.' Fane thought to himself depressed. Derek stormed into the room growling. Swing a punch aimed towards Fane chin, all Fane did was catch it in his own closed hand. "ENOUGH!" Fane roared his own eyes burning a bright crimson red with his black vamp veins under his eyes. Everybody dropped to their knees from the pressure of power Fane was giving off. Erica whimpered and Isaac looked at his face with fear. Still having Dereks fist in his hand , Fane squeezed it *crack* "The only reason you get to live is because you are Laura's brother and you know something I need!" Fane explained to the group. Fane turned to Dereks pack members. Using his shadow tendrils they shot out of his back and chopped the three betas necks, effectively knocking them out. Derek looked on in surprise.( Laura and Derek never saw his shadow powers or know of his heritage) "What the hell even are you?" Fane just chuckled. Reaching his hand out to Derek to help him off the ground. "Ready to talk now?"
You could hear a pin drop in the woods surrounding the Hale house. It seemed like the animals in Beacon Hills understood they were witnessing an ancient apex- Predator in Fane. The two awkwardly stood in silence for a few minutes. "Why did you leave her, Fane?" Derek asked quietly not taking his eyes off the moon. "I had too. I'm not a good person, I've done terrible things that would give the toughest of men nightmares… I thought it wasn't fair of me to snuff out the light that was Laura.. Trust me this cruel world would be much better if there were more people like her.." Fane spoke to Derek. All the Alpha Hale could do was listen intently. "But when you both caught me when I was feeding on that human, it seemed like a good excuse as any to leave. But to know now that this would lead to never seeing her again…" "I thought you all died in the fire when I heard the news then I blacked out. When I came to I had killed over 100 humans" he continued. "The witches decided I was too much to handle so they chose to seal me but they knew they wouldn't have the power to so they tried to make a copy of Gleipnir, the chains that bind the god killer, Fenrir. Luckily for me the cheap duplicate ran out of power after 10 years. I broke the chains and fled here to gain my power back." Fane rolled up his sleeves and there were marks from the chains still present. "Just to find out I was too late to find Laura. In my 1000 years she was the only person to bring the good out of this black heart.. I loved that girl and I failed her…" Fane ended his heartfelt speech to the last remaining Hale. Even Fane was confused why he told all of that to Derek.
"She looked for you, ya know?" Derek spoke up. "She searched for years, Fane. She could barely keep her self going because all she thought about was finding you for… " Derek suddenly stopped talking. Fane could tell he was keeping something from him, he let him continue without interrupting. "After the fire we fled and she still kept looking for you. I honestly couldn't keep watching her fall into a deep depression so I had to stop helping her." Derek signed and rubbed in forehead. "She even went to the Alpha of Alphas to help find you. To go to a demon wolf for help, I knew she lost her mind." 'Alpha of Alphas?' Fane about busted up laughing. 'I really should've been keeping a better eye out in the world. To hear of a wolf trying to claim he is a demon or the strongest wolf….' Fane was getting excited maybe this someone that could actually give him some sort of challenge on this earth. "What is the "Demon" wolf's name" Fane asked, using air quotations around the world demon. Derek uttered one name. "Deucalion." Fanes eye burned bright crimson red, he vamp-sped in front of Derek. He slammed Derek to the wall of the house with his hand around the Alpha neck. "He.. tried … to kill Laura.." Derek gasped between breathes. Trying to shake Fanes hand off to no success, 'Even with my new Alpha spark I still don't stand a chance against him' Derek thought to himself. "I.. got to her in time to help her escape but he took something far more important to Laura than her own life.." Derek then muttered a sentence that made it feel like the world dropped on Fane. "He took Laura's daughter… your daughter… Róta…" Fane instantly dropped Derek and stumbled back a couple steps with a shocked expression. Not even taking another glance he blurred away into the darkness.
