Chapter 3: Third wish of marriage

After requesting his second wish, a mischievous smirk adorned his face, signaling his readiness to voice his third and final desire.

"My third wish is to marry you, Goddess. I want you to be my wife," he declared boldly, his words hanging in the air with a weighty anticipation.

A heavy silence descended upon them, and the Goddess's expression turned perplexed, unable to comprehend his audacious request. The atmosphere crackled with tension as the pressure around them seemed to intensify, the weight of the Goddess's disapproval palpable.

"You are asking me, a goddess, to become your mortal wife?" she questioned, her voice tinged with incredulity, the air thick with her growing displeasure.

As the pressure mounted, he felt the weight of her disapproval bearing down upon him. Yet, with unwavering resolve, he spoke in a gentle and sincere tone, seeking to alleviate her anger.

"Goddess, forgive me for my intrusion. I meant no disrespect to your pride. I only asked for what I desired, as you said I could," he offered, his words laced with humility and understanding.

The Goddess's anger began to wane, the oppressive pressure dissipating as she took a deep breath to steady herself.

"I understand your intent, but one cannot simply ask for someone's hand in marriage without their consent," she explained, her tone softened but firm. "You may request anything else you desire."

Undeterred, he remained steadfast in his desire, his gaze unwavering as he spoke with unwavering conviction.

"I have already made my wishes known. The only thing I desire now is to marry you, Goddess," he stated without hesitation, his heart laid bare before her.

With a resigned sigh, the Goddess relented, her tone softened by a hint of sympathy. "I'm sorry, but mortals cannot marry gods. It is a rule, and even if it were not, there is nothing within you that would make me consider such a union."

His expression fell, disappointment clouding his features as he pondered her words. Yet, undeterred, he sought understanding, his eyes brimming with hopeful curiosity.

"Why are mortals not allowed to marry gods?" he inquired, his voice tinged with a hint of longing, a puppy-like look of hopefulness adorning his face.

With a resigned exhale, the Goddess relented, her tone softened by a hint of exasperation. "Fine, I'll tell you. But please, stop giving me that puppy look. It's rather unsettling."
