Chapter 5: Under The Downpour

Chris nodded, understanding but still feeling concerned. "I just want to make sure she's okay," he said. "Do you know if she's doing alright?"

Mr. Williams hesitated, and he could tell that he was struggling with what to say. "I can't share any details," he said finally.

Chris stood up from his chair, still feeling confused and unsettled. He thanked Mr. Williams for his time, but he couldn't help but feel uneasy as he walked out of the office. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong, and he was worried about Lily.

He thought about her as he drove home, wondering if there was anything he could do to help. He knew it was probably best to respect her privacy, but he just wanted to make sure she was okay. He couldn't stop thinking about her, and he hoped that she was doing alright.

Mr. Williams watched him leave, his expression one of cold satisfaction. He had no idea that Lily was Mr. Williams' niece, and he was glad to keep it that way. He knew that Chris would be angry if he knew the truth since Chris was a shareholder and investor in his coffee shop, and Mr. Williams had no intention of letting him find out.

The fact that he had fired Lily and caused her to suffer was a source of pride for him, not guilt. He would do whatever it took to get what he wanted, no matter who he had to hurt in the process.

As Chris drove home through the downpour of rain, he noticed a lone figure walking along the side of the road, unprotected from the rain. As he got closer, he realized it was Lily, and she was shivering violently. He immediately pulled over and got out of the car, running to her side.

"Lily, what are you doing out here?" he asked, his voice full of concern. "You'll catch your death of cold!"

Lily looked up at him, her eyes filled with tears. "I had to leave," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "He was going to make me....."

He asked lily to get into his car and she told him that she was sacked without pay and therefore couldn't buy drugs for her mother

"My mom has been sick for a long time with blood cancer" Lily said, her voice breaking. "I've been working so hard to try to pay for her medicine, but I can't keep up. Mr. Williams knew that, and he used it against me. I just don't know what to do."

Chris' anger rose as he listened to Lily's story. He couldn't believe that he had taken advantage of her situation like that. "You don't have to worry about your mom's medicine," he said, putting his arm around her. "I'll make sure she gets what she needs.""

Chris drove her to his house, making sure she was warm and comfortable. He made her some hot tea and sat down next to her on the couch. "You're safe here," he said, his voice gentle. "You can stay as long as you need to."

She took a sip of her tea, her hands still shaking. "Thank you," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "I don't know what I would have done without you.

They talked, and he learned more about her life and the struggles she had faced. He was amazed by her strength. "I want to help you get out of this situation," Chris said, looking at Lily intently. "I can't stand to see you being taken advantage of like this. I want to help you and your mom, but I need you help "

"Become my fake wife for a year and i'll pay you 2 billion dollars after divorce and also immediately pay for your mother's surgery"....

Chris' suggestion took her by surprise. "What do you mean?" she asked, her eyes wide. "Are you saying you want to marry me...just so you can help me and my mom?"

"It's not that simple," Chris said, his expression serious. "There are some legal and financial benefits to being married. It would make it easier for me to help you without drawing suspicion. But I understand if you're not comfortable with the idea. I just want to make sure you know all of your options."

Lily thought about what he had said, trying to process it all. She felt torn .

"I want to use you to get my father's corporation and save it from my power hungry relatives", he said.

"My father built this corporation from the ground up," Chris said, his voice filled with emotion. "He worked so hard to make it what it is today. But now, my relatives are trying to take it away from me. I need to find a way to protect it, and I think you might be able to help me."

Lily sat up, suddenly feeling nervous. "You want me to help you get control of a company worth billions of dollars?" she asked, her heart racing. "I'm not sure I'm up for that kind of responsibility."

"I know it's a lot to ask," Chris said "But I wouldn't expect you to do it alone," Chris continued, his eyes pleading. "I would be there every step of the way, guiding you and helping you make the right decisions. I just need someone I can trust, someone who is willing to fight for what's right. I think that could be you."

Lily's mind was spinning. She had never imagined herself in a situation like this. She was just a waitress, trying to make ends meet. Was she really up for something so big and complicated?

"I need some time to think about it," she said, her voice barely above a whisper as she grabs her purse.

Susan, opened the door and stopped in her tracks when she saw the young woman sitting next to her son. She didn't recognize her, but there was something about her that seemed familiar. "Chris, who is this?" she asked, a look of curiosity on her face.

"Mom, this is Lily," Chris said, introducing the two women. "She's a friend of mine."

"It's so nice to meet you, Lily," Susan said, offering a warm smile. "I'm Chris' mother, Susan."

Lily smiled back, feeling a very nervous.

"Lily, I know this might seem like a strange request," Susan said, her voice hesitant. "But would you consider marrying my son?"....
