Everyone had it, and it functioned akin to a heart. It was one of the few vulnerabilities of a vampire. Yet, stronger vampires could conceal their energy core, ensuring enemies couldn't locate it. Since chakra and energy core were similar yet distinct, one person couldn't possess both.
Those who previously had chakra would convert it into an energy core.

As she heard the final sentence, she halted in the corridor, closing her eyes and focusing on sensing her chakra. Seconds and minutes passed, yet all she could feel was the dark energy that had accompanied her since waking. Initially, she had thought it was her chakra acting up, expanding unexpectedly and intensifying.
However, following Kaito's explanation, she realized it was not the case; it was the result of the transformation process from chakra to this black energy core. But before she could delve deeper into her thoughts, Kaito interrupted her.
"Yes, your chakra transformed into Kiroshin, that's the name of the energy core! But the greatest difference between these two energies lies in the source from which they are derived."
Chakra is formed from two types of energy found in every living being in this world. One is physical or bodily energy, and the other is mental or spiritual energy. The physical energy is inherent in every ninja, distributed among all cells in the body and trainable through physical activities. Mental energy, however, can only be expanded over time through experiences.
In contrast to shinobis, all vampires possess an energy core, namely Kiroshin. This energy is obtained by consuming blood from prey. The blood transforms within the vampire's body into Kiroshin.
Not only blood but also the intake of chakra and the life essence of their prey can be transformed into Kiroshin. This is one of the reasons why the vampire race is the strongest, surpassing the capabilities of shinobis.
There are several levels to which vampires are assigned, namely: Baron, Duke, Prince, and Lord, with Lord being the strongest of them all. Comparing it with ninja ranks, Baron is akin to Genin-Chunin, Duke's strength lies between Jounin and Tobok, Prince corresponds to Kage level, and finally, Lord represents a new realm of power beyond that of Kages.
However, what many do not know is that even though Lord is the final stage, it is not the end. There exists a mysterious rank that no one except the first vampire has reached. Additionally, vampires who are born as such experience two rebirth stages: once when they reach the age of 18 in human terms, and once when they reach the final level, Lord.
When vampires reach the age of 5, their abilities begin to manifest. However, since they are too young to control their powers, they are typically sent to a specialized school where they undergo training until they reach the age of 18. After their first rebirth, they gain better control over their abilities, reducing the risk of losing control and unleashing their power uncontrollably, which could result in harming others, especially if these young vampires are pure-blooded.
As Kaito continued to explain to the red-eyed girl, they reached the room where the crystal was located. However, before they could enter, Kaito halted, extending his arm to stop the girl as well. Yukiko looked at him, puzzled. She didn't understand why he suddenly stopped.
But before she could question him, she watched as he gathered dark energy in his hand. 'So, this is Kiroshin,' she thought curiously. Although she could also feel the energy in her body, witnessing it with her own eyes was different. It wasn't as black as she had imagined.
It was a mixture of black and dark blue, reminiscent of the night sky. It was truly a beautiful color. Before she could admire it any further, she saw the energy suddenly take on a physical form. A few seconds later, this energy transformed into a beautiful dark blue chain. Its center was round, and it seemed to glow. Additionally, she noticed an eye within the circle.
After Kaito finished what he intended to do, he handed her the chain and simply instructed her to channel her energy into it. He explained the function of the chain, emphasizing that this place was under his control and that only he could move freely without any trouble.
So far, she could move around unharmed because he was by her side. However, there were rooms or rather places she couldn't access without this chain. The chain symbolized that she belonged to him and was not an enemy. He warned her not to lose or give away the chain as she would truly be in danger if she did.
After Yukiko put on the chain around her neck, Kaito opened the door, and they entered. The room was so dark that the only source of light came from within. In the middle stood a floating white crystal. They moved until they reached it.
"You are to place your hand over it now and infuse a small amount of energy into it. If the color of the crystal turns purple, it means you have a new and different ability from when you were human."
"If the color of the crystal remains blue, it means your ability has not changed. In some cases, the crystal may turn red, but this phenomenon is exclusive to pure-blood vampires. Regular vampires can only possess one ability, hence the crystal typically remains blue for them." he explained briefly.
"Could it be that I can retain my Dojutsu?" she asked hopefully.
She truly wanted to keep her Kekkei Genkai as she was sure that this ability suited her best and represented her. Furthermore, she could feel that her chakra—no, her Kiroshin—was much more powerful and abundant than when she was just a normal human. And that was the only thing holding her back from unleashing the full potential of her Jikan no Mi.
"You'll find out once you do as I've instructed," Kaito replied, shrugging.
Yukiko didn't need to be told twice. She moved closer to the crystal until she stood before it. She noticed that the crystal appeared triangular and shimmered in white. She placed her right hand over it and infused a bit of her Kiroshin. At first, nothing happened, but seconds later, the color of the crystal changed.
It turned...
Blue.

Hello, my dear readers!
I'm back! How have you all been? I only had time to write a new chapter today because I had exams and other tasks this week. But don't worry, I'll be updating regularly from now on before I go on a brief hiatus.
So let me share my update plans for the future: I intend to update every Saturday, Friday, and Wednesday until the week after next. However, the number of chapters I'll upload will remain a secret, so stay tuned for surprises.
There will be one to two more chapters before I introduce new characters and finally kick off the plot. As always, a big thank you to everyone who has supported me so far.
