Chapter 11: Zavia Was Targeted?

Returning to the dorms, Zavia didn't pay any attention to the sentry at the door, and walked right in.

The sentry was about to say something, but upon seeing Bogard, he instantly understood something and didn't bother stopping Zavia.

Walking along the second floor corridor, Zavia rarely felt relaxed, after all, having someone watch you all day wasn't a good thing.

Arriving at the familiar Room 233, Zavia took a deep breath and pushed open the wooden door.

"Yo, Zavia, you're back." As soon as he entered, he heard Robbie's familiar voice, with a hint of happiness in his tone.

"What's up? Good news?" After closing the door, Zavia walked to his bedside and glanced at Robbie.

"That's right, Zavia, listen to me, I've finally touched the threshold of Shave!" Hearing Zavia's words, Robbie was even happier than before, and his voice was louder than before.

"Threshold?" Hearing this, Zavia's ice blue eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at Robbie.

This really was a miracle. Although this guy looked about as tall as me and his body didn't seem so weak after long periods of training.

But in Zavia's eyes, he should be the kind without much talent. Even if he was in the elite camp going through various training, at best he could only make it to a Lieutenant.

But now he had touched the threshold of Shave. Zavia didn't know how long Robbie had practiced Shave, but seeing how excited he was from just touching the threshold, he must have spent a lot of time on it.

"Well, congratulations. Keep working hard, let's see if you can make Admiral in the future."

Zavia was teasing Robbie. Robbie could tell but he wasn't angry. Instead, he just laughed it off with Zavia.

"No way, Zavia. You think too highly of me. A position like Admiral isn't something I can take."

"What about you two?"

Zavia looked at the other two and asked. Naturally, the other two were Chris and Terry. They didn't seem to have any reaction.

"Ah? Me? No way. Although I've been at the elite camp for three months, I haven't touched the threshold of any of the Six Powers." Terry responded first, raising his hand indicating he had nothing. And from his expression, it seemed to be a matter of course. Hearing this, Zavia turned his gaze to Chris.

"...Me too." Chris was silent for a while before uttering those words.

"Don't mind him. He's always been like this, not much of a talker. Keeps quiet all day so he often gets scolded by the instructors." Seeing Chris like this, Robbie explained to Zavia.

"I see... Keep working hard then. I'm gonna go shower first."

Zavia didn't have any reaction to Chris' attitude. So what if he talks less? It wasn't like he hadn't seen people like that before. He directly took his navy uniform and headed for the showers.

After Zavia finished showering, half an hour had passed.

"Phew, showering alone really is the best. Luckily everyone else went to eat so the showers were empty."

Walking along the corridor back to the dorms, Zavia used the towel hanging around his neck to wipe the water droplets on his face. His whole demeanor seemed very comfortable.

At this time of day when training had just ended, all the marines had empty stomachs so everyone ran to the canteen. No one was thinking about showering.

After all, the canteen would be very lively around this time. Since everyone was hungry, they scrambled to run there first. To get food before it ran out.

Arriving at the dorm room door, opening it, he found no one inside. Looks like they went to eat.

Walking to his bed, Zavia sat at its edge gazing boredly out the window at the silvery white moon.

(Sigh... ever since coming to the Pirate World I don't seem to have had much fun.)

Staring at the moon outside, Zavia unconsciously recalled his actions after arriving here.

Falling from the sky onto a lone island. Got a nice surprise at the start. More surprises later on. Meeting Garp and joining the navy. Exploring and developing skills...

Almost no practical experience. This left Zavia quite helpless. Without actual combat, he would never know his true strength.

The only thing Zavia currently knew was that he was stronger than animals. This was good news. After all, animals in the Pirate World defied common sense.

Height of meters, tens of meters, hundreds of meters. Some even had intelligence, vaguely reaching human levels. Like the monkeys under Hawkeye.

But that wasn't something Zavia worried about. After all, animals were still just animals. No matter the intelligence, it couldn't compare to humans'. Besides, Zavia wasn't human either, he was a demon.

But so what? Zavia couldn't compare himself to animals. He had to compare with humans, not animals. In the end, animals were still just animals. No matter what, their strength definitely couldn't match humans. At least for monsters like himself.

If he only compared with animals, Zavia's strength would never grow. Because there were too many humans stronger than animals. You could say they were everywhere.

Therefore, Zavia had to make himself stronger. He didn't know his current strength level because he hadn't tested it. Although he briefly tested against Garp during training, that was just Garp messing around. If Garp went all out, Zavia estimated he would have lost.

Although his demonic physique meant that even if Garp stabbed him through, Zavia wouldn't die. But he would still feel the pain. Zavia wasn't an idiot.

Staring at the moon, Zavia thought about many things. The conclusion was to quickly get stronger, then set sail and make a name for himself on the seas. After all, Zavia wasn't an honest man either.

His purpose for joining the navy was purely to learn knowledge and get stronger faster. Being a pirate didn't have as many patient teachers unless you got lucky and met some powerhouse who saw potential in you. Otherwise forget it.

"Nevermind, instead of thinking useless stuff, I should secure my qualifications first. I must get first place in the competition one month from now!"

Zavia shook his head, clearing out those messy thoughts. Then he sat cross-legged on the bed and started meditating.

This habit of meditating came from when Zavia was on Garp's ship. Because that ship didn't have any suitable equipment for Zavia's training. There was also no rush developing his skill techniques.

Left with nothing to do, Zavia suddenly recalled those sword-using characters from novels and how they would meditate. And so he gradually picked up this habit.

Outside the world, in the depths of the universe - The Abyss

"Hehehe, have you heard? That Demon God seems to have found a new successor."

Inside a crude tavern, a man wearing tattered black robes and a western top hat. His hand, shaped like claws, held a wine glass as he spoke in a very unpleasant voice.

"So?"

Next to him was a relatively shorter man drinking wine with an expressionless face, seemingly disinterested in the tall man's words.

"Hehehe. What do you think, should we report this info to the Gods?"

"And offend the Demon God and Valona? Just for those useless coins? Doesn't seem worth it."

The short man coldly rejected the tall man's suggestion while wearing the same black robe.

"Hehehe. Don't be so cold. Think about it, having them chase and try to kill us. Wouldn't that be very exciting?" But the tall man didn't seem to mind at all. Rather, he wanted to use this to seek excitement by having stronger beings chase and kill him. This guy was simply crazy.

"Oi, don't go crazy at a time like this. The Boss said things are tense lately so don't make trouble." The short man's attitude seemed not just cold but also a bit helpless towards the tall man's crazy behavior. Looks like this wasn't the first time.

"Hehehe. What the Boss says huh. That's too bad. Can't experience that exciting feeling." Hearing this, the short man glanced at him. He didn't hear or see any bit of 'too bad' from the tall man's words or expression.

"Humph. Endure it for now. Once the heat dies down the Boss won't care what nonsense you get up to."

"Hehehe. Boss is still the same, so concerned with the rules."

"How else do you think he keeps us in line? Other than immense strength, necessary rules are also a form of restraint."

Speaking to this point, a cold light flashed across the short man's eyes. He also didn't seem like an honest man.

Creak~

Just then, the wooden door to the tavern opened. A bizarre figure entered, shaking with every step... Human?

"Hehehe. Rare guest we have here. The famous 'Slaughter' has business with us?" The tall man pushed up his round black glasses and spoke without even turning his head.

"Hohoho. I thought you were living so lavishly. Turns out your lives are still so 'simple'."

A somewhat shrill voice came from that bizarre "person". Then, a short fat figure with green hair slowly emerged from that "person's" shoulder.

He didn't just appear out of thin air. He came directly out of the insides of the shoulder, extremely disgusting.

"You don't have to worry about how we are doing, let's get down to business." The short man spoke coldly while glancing at the fat midget.

"As blunt as ever I see, 'Dark Night'. Oh well, doesn't matter. I'm here on orders to inform you about that Demon God's successor I assume you've heard of?"

"So?"

"The Boss has ordered all group members and their subordinates to kill or capture him!"
