Chapter 3: The awakening
Baron and the other soldiers were transported into the dream realm,and their memories were wiped out and replaced with a new one's. Since the matter of universal punishment can't be disclosed to the mortals. Everyone thought that the demons fled and William sacrificed himself for that purpose. So the news of his bravery was spread throughout the country.
Flameheart's residence
Amanda was awake the whole night waiting just to hear the comforting voice of William.
Ding!!!
The phone rang. She immediately picked up. Before she could say anything."I'm sorry to Inform you this. William flameheart has... passed in the line of duty. He saved the country from the biggest demonic army ever seen,by sacrificing himself. His achievements won't be go unnoticed and the military will take car-"
Amanda cut the phone and dropped down on the floor.thud,her knees made contact with the floor. She started to cry and shout"why... snob...why did it had to be him...". That's when Roy entered.
"Mother what happened" he asked in a concerned tone.
"Your father has.....passed away...snob"as he heard this he felt different emotions. Guilt and disappointment were the most prevalent. How he couldn't feel much sadness since he lost his memories and barely spent anytime with his 'father'.
Charlotte was still asleep and Roy considered it a wise choice not to tell her about this. Suddenly he got a vision. The scene of the battle Feild that happened somewhile ago appeared in it. There he saw William standing on the ground. Above him the three beings. When he saw them,a strong killing intent escaped from him. Then he heared his father's murmuring "Roy I'm sorry,i couldn't save them the last time. I have done my job and paid the price. Finish the job". Then the spear struck him.
Roy felt anger towards the three beings and understood those were his true enimies,he swore get revenge.His killing intent intensified after watching the vision. Before the the three beings left,they looked into Roy's soul. This shook him to his core."Foolish mortal" chuckled the one in the middle and they disappeared.
He was snapped out from his vision by his mother's uneven heavy breathing."Mother..mother" shouted Roy.His mother fainted. Roy dahsed and dived across the room to cushion her fall.
Thud!!!
He fell after hugging his mother and positioning himself under her. He rolled three times hitting the table near him and dropping the landline on him ."urgh" he let out a pained after stopping he picked up his mother and put her on the couch."mother...mother..wake up" he said as he sprinkled water drops on her face.
Suddenly he himself fainted,the glass of water fell down as a result. Before it hit the ground it started levitating a few inches above the ground.
Inside Roy's consciousness
"Where...am i. Today has been really strange and weird. Alot of unexplainable things have happened." Said Roy to himself as he walked around in the pitch darkness.
"This is your conscience space" he heard. The voice was similar to the one he heard before leaving today morning.Slowly a figure stepped out from the darkness. It had shoulder length hair like Roy and similar ocean blue eyes.
"Father...what..how.. I'm really confused. Weren't you dead?"said Roy as he couldn't hide his puzzlement." I am dead"replied the figure in a saddened tone.
"I couldn't be there for her last time and not even this time. I'm truly the worst husband and a father."said William while his head staring at the endless darkness beneath him.
"What i am? You will know in the future. I had left a part of my soul with your soul before you were sent back. Looks like my plan was a success."said William further increasing Roy's puzzlement.he continued"This is my real voice,you must feel very nostalgic with it?well that's a given after all we went through alot in the past or future whatever you wanna call it. i will get straight to the point. This is sort of a prerecord video. You will meet me every time you make a breakthrough.The scroll i gave you is your key to breaking the shackles known as fate. The power it holds is unparalleled. Even i only reached the 3rd level of the 2nd stage. Yes,i lied. The reason I didn't disclose it earlier was to protect you and everyone's path to it will be unique. I couldn't help even if i wanted to.To feel the mana around you. You need to become one with the surroundings. You need to achieve the state of peace and comfort for that....Until we meet again next time. Take care of them. Do want we left undone the last time.Roy... show them hell."
Back to the human realm
Roy was back,the glass levitating fell. Resulted in it breaking. This woke up his mother who looked at Roy confused and still in denial of his death. Roy saw this and went to sit next to her.
"Mother i know father has left us. He had no other choice. He will be remembered as a hero,a light of hope in the void of darkness. Even if i didn't make much memories with him. He still felt very familiar and comfortable to be with. Before he left yesterday he told me to take care of you and Charlotte....Mother I think we should tell her this when she wakes up,since it's already all over the news." Said Roy as his mother was in his embrace.
His mother clamed down a bit,and wiped her tears." You both are the same. You have the ability to put my heart at ease and make me comfortable" said Amanda as she forced out a chuckle trying to be strong for the sake of the family.
After Amanda went in the room, Roy got to working. He went outside and sat in the open in mediation position. He felt calm,peace and safe. Slowly he could feel the nutreul mana around him. The amount kept on growing and growing. The distance it covered reach 1 km. Then he couldn't go any further.
" Even if it's 1 km, it's better than nothing"he said with a smile of gratification. He started to feel the mana around him again and again so he gets comfortable with it. He spent a few hours doing it and decided to call it a day.
When Charlotte woke up, Roy broke the news to her. She cried more than anyone did. She asked Roy to leave and wanted to be alone in her room. A week passed and she still didn't come out. Her mother sent food to her everyday so she doesn't die due to hunger. Although she only ate some of it,it was better than starvation.
Roy kept comforting and spending time with his mother in that time and he was pretty comfortable in feeling the mana around him. He even started to make small shapes from the neutral mana.He could make palm sized objects and move them at relatively highspeeds. He could make anything appear out of thin air in a radius of 1 km, will this radius ever expand. Maybe,only time will.
Just like his routine Roy was sitting outside in the ground meditating. He was feeling the mana around and making random things appear from thin air. He was also absorbing mana to form his core. He was on the verge of breaking into the bronze league. As he got closer to the climax,he started absorbing more mana than what usual people need.
His mana demand kept getting higher and higher. After a few minutes the much awaited event took place. Roy had broken through. He had successfully reached bronze rank. And that too the second level. He was on the verge of breaking through the 3rd and final level of bronze rank. But he felt like something was missing.
As excited he was,he thought it wasn't beneficial to tell his mother and sister right now. So he decided to wait. Although he was learning the sacred cultivation technique,he still was dependent on the traditional one as exposing to much of neutral mana will attract unwanted attention.So he wanted to check him affinity and the elements he got.
He told his mother he was going out for sometime,he didn't tell her he was going to the Association for a affinity and talent check. Since he was 15 and children his age were preparing for the entrance exams taking place after 6 months. So it was unnatural to see such a young person getting their affinities checked this late.
Thus he walked towards the train station. The train station was something straight out of a sci-fi movie. With holograms and walking robots around helping people with the luggage. Since he was discharged some days ago he didn't get the lastes nano chip installed. Nano chips are the replacement of mobile phones. They are installed inside the palms and work as bank cards for payments and browsing social media etc. things you expect from a mobile phone.
He went to the counter."Can i get a first class ticket to the next train heading for shibuya district"when Roy spoke the employmee eyed him with doubt. Since the only reason people go to shibuya district is to get their affinity and elements checked.
"That would be 5 dak, would you like to pay by cash or through the nano transfer"asked the employee. "Cash please" said Roy as he handed the required amount and went to sit on his seat.
