Chapter 17: Assessment

When Rhys got home, his family was surprised to see the rabbit.

Lola was staring at the complacent Fu. "Uncle, did you buy a pet?"

Fu looked angry when he heard the kid.

Rhys chuckled and said,"His name is Fufu. He is a sentient beast. He can think and talk like a human."

"I-Is he like SuperTerry?" asked Lola.

A big smile appeared on Fu's face."Terry is currently more powerful than me, but I will definitely exceed him later."

There was a look of awe on Lola."Do you also have magic?"

Fu stretched his hand, then a light energy covered Lola and let her float in the air.

"I already sent a few million gard to your accounts. I succeeded in passing Hansel's test. After the initial assessment, I will start smithing simple magic weapons while waiting for the result. Have you found a commodity to sell?"

Ana and Gil nodded their heads.

"I found a tea leaf from another world. The taste was not good, but there was a bit of uniqueness. I found a way to improve it. I think it will have a good place among the teas from other worlds," said Ana.

"Will it not require a factory?"

Ana nodded her head, then she looked at Gil.

Rhys looked at the kid and rabbit watching cartoons together.

Ana and Gil smiled. "Lola found a new friend."

In the morning, Rhys and Fu went to the association branch. There were new exonns waiting at the site. Philipp was there, talking with a middle-aged man named Samuel.

"I was wishing to become an exonn when I was active in service. I can't believe that the gate will summon me when I am retired and on the least expected day," said Samuel with a chuckle.

Philipp laughed. "Don't worry, we share the same experience."

Then he saw Rhys approaching and waved his hand. "Rhys!"

He pointed at Samuel and said,"He is Samuel, retired soldier with many years of experience in the field."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Rhys Creed."

Samuel nodded his head and shook Rhys' hand. They conversed with each other, and he was surprised by the knowledge of the young man, causing Philipp to smile.

The last exonn arrived, then they were guided to a floating bus.

Louis flew closer and floated in the air. "I was wondering why you were late. As I thought, you are here."

Philipp chuckled. He floated in the air as he looked at the leaving vehicle with a smile.

Within the bus, Mary was introducing the assessment with a screen. "First, your aerial skill will be tested in a simulation. Next, you will have a battle with a demon. Don't worry, it will also be done in the simulation. The last part of the initial assessment is a one on one battle with the other new exonns from other cities in Vasteasia. The result of the assessment will decide your team. Each team will be led by a Tier 3. The result of your total assessment will decide if you are ready to enter Kindom or not."

Samuel looked at the serious face of Rhys. "You don't look afraid. I would have thought that you joined the military or that you are a member of a top family if I had not talked to you earlier."

Fu smiled with an arrogance on his face. "Why will he feel afraid if he has me?"

Samuel chuckled when he heard the rabbit."I forgot to ask your name earlier."

"Hmpf! You don't deserve to know my name."

Samuel smiled and shook his head.

"His name is Fufu," said Rhys, causing Samuel to laugh.

"What are you laughing at?! Do you know who I am?!"

Rhys chuckled. "Hey, you don't want another name, so you have to start accepting it. It doesn't sound bad. It's even more popular than the name Terry."

"R-Really?"

Rhys smiled and nodded his head. Then he looked at Samuel."Aren't we all baptized in the illusion? We all should have seen and experienced the dark part of the world."

Samuel smiled. "Not everyone can apply what they experienced in the illusion. They might not even want to look back."

A reminiscent look appeared on Rhys' face as he remembered his past lives in the illusion.

"Every life that I had in the illusion is valuable to me. I can still learn from them as I try to remember them," thought Rhys.

Mary answered the questions of some new exonns until the bus arrived at an airfield. The plane carried Rhys and the others to Mageaf City.

Rhys looked at the other planes that were landing on the airfield when they reached the association in the central city.

The new exonns of various ages were gathered in a hall.

Argam was smiling as he faced them. "How the assessment will proceed should have been told to you all. If you want to stay behind the front line, that is fine. We understand that heaven's gate is randomly summoning people around the world. Not everyone is capable of fighting, but we believe that everyone who passed the trial has stronger will than most people. You should have seen what it's like for a world conquered by demons."

Every new exonn in the hall gripped their fists when they heard Argam.

"Everyone might not have the talent for fighting, but everyone has their own way to give support. You might not know it, but every exonn staff who are working in the association did not give up their training.
