Chapter 2: Our First Meeting!......
... "Please Mr. Cruz, spare us. We made a terrible mistake, we are sorry..."Mrs Fisher said while on her knees
" Spare you?!, Is this some kind of joke?"The tall man replied
"We made a mistake!. Please we have no where to go" Mr. Fisher joined in the plea
"Well, I'm sorry but not sorry, this District has been set aside for government construction. You won't want to get sued for obstruction of Government work right?!" He replied with a smirk
"Take anything else, but please spare our house, please Commissioner Cruz" Mr. Fisher begged
"You are a bunch of nuisance, what can you possibly offer huh!, Obstruction of Government Work and Trespassing!, You might have to pay a fine of 12million dollars!. Do you have that huge amount of money?" He said and Mr. Fisher's shoulder dropped in defeat
I stared at my family for a while and felt useless. Even if I'll sacrifice alot just to see them in this situation, I couldn't neglect the fact that our house was about to be demolished because of my parents foolish mistake.
I just came back from work and was in an hurry because the mere thought of the punishment for coming back late was nerve wrecking. Well, I felt a little bit of a relieve, atleast now, no one will notice I got home late.
I was still contemplating on what to do, I had to save our house either way because I know I'll always be the one to suffer for the loss. No home means I have to earn extra cash and work extra hour.
I stood up with wobbling legs and finally mustered the courage to talk
"Excuse me sir, I don't think that's enough reasons to demolish our house... I mean vot-voting is a choice we make and-and I think my family.... my family and the people of this district made that choice be-bec-because they.... " I stopped for a while when I realised the commissioner was moving closer to me and staring at me
"Go on....." He said and kept on moving closer
"I mean absolutely no disrespect sir but-but I think you should consider pardoning us" I said with pain written all over my face. I kept on praying he'll pardon us and..... but then it felt like a wasted wish
"What the heck do you think you're doing you witch?!...." My mom said and pulled me down and I ended up hurting my knee
"So now you go against me then take turns in lecturing me on what you think is right and what is wrong... " He said with a smirk
"No that's not... " I couldn't complete my sentence because he suddenly smiled coldly and I felt my heart jump out, We were already in for it, I just complicated the whole issue and there was no way he would forgive us...
"That's intruiging and quite bold..... "
He turned to my parents and finally said.....
.... "I'll take her, in exchange for this District and your title as my inlaw.... "

I had gone to work like usual then I realised I forgot my lunchbox. I considered leaving it and just concentrate on my work but then I cooked the food with my hard earned money, It will be a shame to waste it or have Samantha eat it.On my way back home, I met one of our parrot-like neigbhour
"Hey, where have you been?" She asked out of breath
"My work!. Because I have a job!"I said wirh sarcasm
" Well, I hope that job saves you from the commissioner!. I'm off"She said and then ran off before I could answer any further questions
"What-Hey-where are you running off to-Wont you atleast explain what you just said?" I shouted but she was already out of sight
I murmured to myself a little then continued walking
I could hear the noice from afar so I hid behind a rock
"I gatta be careful. Who knows, it might be trouble.... " I said to myself. And there was the commissioner, standing and grinning and my family and the neighbours on their knee, begging.
".....Does he really enjoy watching others in pain..... " I said carefully. But who knew I was gonna land straight in trouble?.....

"..... Well, ofcourse, if you have another daughter, I can take her instead.... " The Commissioner continued
I looked at my family, praying they'll just say yes, they had another daughter but.....
"NO!...." My mom said without hesitating
"... You can have her!" She continued
"MOM!" I shouted
"What?!. Didn't you hear what he said and besides you landed yourself in this mess. Just think of it like helping the family huh?!. And again thats one way of getting rid of you" My Mom said with a scoff
Even if what she said had left a huge hole in my heart, I knew she was right. They've always wanted to get rid of me and my kind gesture and effort to stop the commissioner led to this..... So its partially my fault. But....
"Well then, I think you'll have to consult your daughter on the issue. And this isn't a forced marriage. You dont have to do it if you don't want to.I hate forcing myself on people.... " He said and gave me a nod before leaving.
I looked around and everyone was..... Murmuring. Staring at me with plea and guilt. Some with disgust and some with pity. It felt like in my bid to escape responsibility, I just landed in a bigger one.....

"..... NO!, I wont do it. He asked right, he asked if you had another daughter but you said no!. Why?!..... I screamed
" What do you think you are doing huh, rebelling?!"My Mom said with a grin
"I cant just leave like that. I dont even know him and you saw his face right?, that man is dangerous. Please, Mom. I dont want fo go. I'll do anything, I swear I wont rebel, please..... " I cried out
"Just keep shut!" My Dad's voice echoed in the room
I had thought my dad wasn't gonna say anything but he did.....
"Look here Vanny, I know this is alot of responsibility but the town is counting on you, the district is counting on you, this family is counting on you and I am as well. Look baby, this is only for a while, Ok?!. I'll come get you immediately I get the money. I wont possibly leave my daughter in the house of a stranger..... " My Dad said
My shoulders dropped immediately. My dad never contributed to any decision made in the house, he was always quiet and turned a blind eye to everything. I had always prayed he'll just say a word and now the heavens answered my prayers and he's saying these?!, I'll have preferred he never said anything. I knew it was inevitable,they were kicking me out!. Well he said to trust him right?, then thats exactly what I'll do. Trust Him. He's definitely gonna come back for me, I'm his daughter and he loves me.
".... Fine!. I'll do it!" I said finally
"Oh waow!.I knew I could count in you. Thanks alot kove... " My Dad said
Something was for sure, this was was the Commissioner's way of punishing me. But no matter how hard and tough he tries to be, I was prepared to make myself Comforfable and Settled down in his house.... He won't make my hell, instead I'll make him regret his decision to marry me and I'll do that as Mrs. Cruz!. But first, where do I start?!...
