Chapter 4: Ch.4 Grimoire
According to the guidelines Kai read on the game's site, Grimoire differs from person to person, even if they have the same magic,
An example of this is a Fire Magic Grimoire that focuses on short-range fighting style and a Fire Magic Grimoire that's pure long-range, not only that, Grimoires also have ranking, in Clover Kingdom, the almost impossible-to-obtain Five-Leaf Clover is the highest Grimoire, although not necessarily the strongest.
Grimoire has a huge effect on its user's fighting style, therefore players with low star magic still stood a chance against high star magic users.
Back to Kai's grimoire, the grimoire's cover was red with a huge palm imprint at the very front. A four-leaf clover could also be seen at the very center of the front cover.
Holding the book with his right hand, the Information about the book and its skills flooded Kai's mind.
[Ding! Congratulations, Player 'Chrollo' successfully awakened a four-leaf clover grimoire, Magic Recorder.]
[Magic Recorder: A grimoire that records wizards' magic permanently, giving its owner the ability to use the recorded magic.
Requirements: Copy Magic
Note: There are four conditions are need to be met before a magic would be recorded.
1. The user must ask about the wizard's magic the user wants to permanently copy in his grimoire and the said wizard must answer honestly.
2. The user should see the targeted wizard use his/her magic with his/her eye.
3. The targeted wizard's palm must touch the handprint on the Magic Recorder's cover.
4. All of the conditions above must be completed in an hour.]
'Permanently copying someone's magic sure sounds broken but the conditions are quite troublesome.' Kai analyzes the pros and cons of his grimoire.
Permanently copying magic means that it will be as if Kai himself possesses that magic, meaning he can develop and improve said magic, contrary to the simple copying he did to Mirage earlier, where he can only do the spell Mirage used.
'Well it's already given since without limitation copy magic mages would surely be OP ruining the very little fairness in the game.' Kai thought remembering just how large the disparity was between low-stars and high-stars players.
Compared to level one player with a low star race, Kai with his Royal Elf is already ten times stronger than them, of course, this difference only matters in the early game as the stat points growth between them are the same.
But the earliest part of the game is always the important one, it what's separates the best from the rest.
Plus high star races generally have Special Ability, just like Kyle's Perfect Mana Control and High Mana Affinity.
A sudden weak push, pull Kai back to reality as he turned around and saw it was Mirage.
"Hey, what's with the serious face, don't tell me you got a bad grimoire?" Mirage teased as always, as Kai has got used to her attics.
Kai didn't answer but stared at the grimoire in Mirage's hand. The book's cover was light blue akin to that of an ice with some snow design and a four-leaf clover at the very center.
The thought of copying FrostQueen's magic immediately entered Kai's mind as he weighed the pros and cons.
'No, using force is a no since we already have a good relationship.' Kai denied the idea as he already decided to invite her to join his guild.
Not doing it by force means asking for Mirage's permission, but Kai doesn't trust her yet for him to reveal his abilities.
Kai didn't bother to entertain Mirage as they both exited the Magic Tower. As they arrived at the tower's gate, Kai noticed that the man from earlier was standing in front of them, blocking their way.
"What do you want." Mirage's voice was cold, different from her usual behavior around Kai.
The man, however, didn't pay attention to her as he stared toward Kai.
"You are....interesting" Saying these words, the man turned abruptly and rudely left, not waiting for Kai's reply.
"Hahaha, what a weird guy" Kai sarcastically said, seemingly mocking the man but the glint in his eyes suggests something otherwise.
'Those ears, He's an Elf.' Kai thought with great interest as he took note of the man. But compared to his, the man's ears are not as pointy which causes Kai to believe he only possesses a normal Elf race.
'And not only that, that grimoire, I'm sure I saw a dragon design in it.' Kai added with a smile on his face.
"Hey stop smiling like a creep, what you have a crush on him or something?" Mirage interjected, interrupting Kai's thought as she annoyingly asked.
'He's not gay, is he?' Was what was in Mirage's mind.
Hearing this, the corner of Kai's lips twitched as he did what he did best, ignore Mirage.
"Come on let's hunt more monsters." Walking back to the starting village, Mirage suggested to Kai. However, he refused, planning to spend some time alone.
"Hmph! Whatever, just don't come begging at me to carry you when you get left behind." Mirage pouted with her arms crossed as she tried to scare Kai before leaving.
"Go go go" Kai shooed away Mirage who was taking very tiny steps and would look back every few steps.
"Hmph!" Mirage pouted as she left for real this time.
'Finally.' Kai commented seeing that he was all alone again,
Not wanting to attract any unwanted attention, Kai hides in an alley. It was hard to see from outside, perfect for a hiding spot.
"Menu" Just like earlier a blue screen appeared in front of Kai as he got a little bit used to it and immediately entered the inventory.
Without wasting any second, Kai clicked the ASE (All-Seeing-Eye) and equipped it

The integration wasn't long as but was painful as Kai felt as if his eyes were burning as he resisted the urge to gouge it out.
Fortunately, he persisted as the integration went smoothly.
