Chapter 9: Ch.9 Mirage
'Chrollo...'
A young violet-haired lady just past puberty with a beautiful face, smooth jade skin, and lovely purple eyes lay on a king-size bed, fiddling with the Rubik's Cube in her hand as the image of a certain lad occupied her mind.
This was Mirage, the Ice Mage, but in the real world, she was more known as Samantha Smith, the sole daughter of the owner and founder of a gigantic devices company, Timothy Smith.
Samatha grew up with maids as his mother figure as his biological mom passed away right after she was born.
Still, she grew up getting whatever she wanted as his father is the owner and CEO of Dawn the technology company supergiant, selling technologies such as smartphones, laptops, and many more.
Because of this, Samatha grew up as a spoiled kid, developing a quirky and teasing personality.
"Madam, Master has visited." Samatha heard a gentle knock on the door as a woman's voice coming from the outside politely informed her of her father's arrival.
"Let him in, I don't wanna move~" Samatha lazily replied, continuing to fiddle with the toy in her hand.
"Yes, madam." The maid who had been with her since she was a child had long been used to her attics as she delivered her madam's word to her father.
'Argh!! why can't I forget about him!!' Samantha annoyingly thought, scratching her head purposely excessively, as she tried to erase the image of Kai in her mind.
'Is this what Yaya Erica called love at first sight?' The teenage girl who hadn't experienced that thing called love as her face turned red with the thought of falling in love.
She tries to deny it but it is as if Kai is imprinted in her memory, tormenting the lovestruck lady.
'Ack!' Samantha screams internally as she punches the pillow beside her.
At the same time, Timothy Smith entered the living room and saw Samantha's strange attics as he asked,
"What's up sweetheart, is anything bothering you?" Edward, known to be tough, strict, and cunning, bends in his daughter's presence as he wears a doting father face in front of his daughter.
"Nothing," Samantha replied but the redness could still be seen on her face.
"Well forget about that, do you like the give I gave you?" Timothy who knew his daughter knew not to force the topic as he changed the topic as he asked about the VR capsule he gave Samantha.
Compared to the VR helmet gear, VR capsules were much more comfortable and had important functions such as nutrient supplements so that players could play much longer without the problem of getting hungry, Health Monitor, and many more.

Obviously, this is a luxury Kai couldn't afford as he obediently uses the VR helmet like the rest of the people.
"Is the news true father?!" In the presence of her father, Samatha's thought was replaced with the recent viral video on the internet, the video of Magic being real.
Hearing his daughter's inquiry, Timothy sighed as he confessed to Samatha the little scheme he did.
Just like the Solomon family, Timothy also received the news before the game's release, which is why he invested in the VR capsule to give to his daughter.
With his age, Timothy knew that the new era had no place for old folks like him, but still, he didn't want his daughter to suffer and wanted her to grow and be strong in this new world.
Hearing the shocking news, Samantha was speechless but also touched, as in the end, her father still puts her first.
"There's a thing in the game called, Magic Guild, I heard that various powerful figures plan to create their guilds to maintain power among the rest. The company is also planning to do the same, and I want you to be part of this." Timothy shares his plans with his only child, as he can't help but feel sorry for the burden he placed on his daughter.
"I...." The young lady doesn't know what to reply, taken by surprise by the sudden responsibility she has to carry.
She, who had lived her entire life not knowing how to take accountability for her actions is unfit to lead, is what she thinks.

Kai replied, confused as he asked, {Kai: About what?}
Just a few seconds after he sent a message, Kai immediately got a reply from Mirage.
{Mirage: In person, it's something important}
{Mirage: Please?}
Kai was unsure whether to agree, having no idea what Mirage was talking about but in the end, he agreed, sensing the seriousness of the situation.
Upon Mirage's instructions, Kai arrived at an inn where the young lady was waiting, with the receptionist's guidance, he arrived at a private room.
The room is clean and neat, with simple furniture like chairs, a table, and a single bed.
Inside, Mirage sat patiently on the chair as Kai went inside and sat at the empty chair in front of her.
There is a troubled look in Mirage's eyes, something that didn't go unnoticed by Kai's eyes.
"What's the problem?" He asked, maintaining a calm demeanor but still refraining from being too friendly as he and Mirage had only known each other for a day.
Staring at Kai's black eyes, Samantha narrated what her father had told him, from the very beginning, which was that people with high social status had known about the game's peculiarity before it was even released.
To this, Kai raised his eyebrows as his mind brainstormed what could be the consequences of other people knowing this information but as he lacked details, Kai pushed the matter aside.
Next, hearing about the Tech-Rex Company's plan to create a guild in the game, Kai thought it was a good idea especially since Samantha would be the one leading the team as her father stated.
Unfortunately, Kai shook his head as he now knew the purpose of Mirage wanting to meet him.
"I see, so you called me here to ask me to join your guild right?"
