Chapter 2: Battle of Os Meikal

Prologue

1276, Autumn, 48th Day

It had been a few days since the Kurgestian Army started making its way to Tilokas. But on the way, they would stop at a nearby town of Os Meikal. Believing the rebels wouldn't even dare to attack, they would be resting there until they were prepared to march again.

Back at Tilokas, the Atalikans were preparing to convince nearby towns to join their cause, with their first objective being Os Meikal. They assembled as much as they could, as they would start marching by today. Numbering around 15,000 men, including the garrison, they started making their way to Os Meikal.

The Battle

1276, Autumn 52nd Day

After their unscheduled stop at Os Meikal, the Kurgestians started their advance again. Unfortunately however, they would soon meet the Atalikans who had also just arrived at the outskirts of Os Meikal. Trying to take advantage of their surprise, General Tarus of the Kurgestian Army ordered an attack to the unprepared Atalikans.

The Kurgestians have around 17,000 troops, whereas the Atalikans have about 15,000. The Atalikans were caught off guard, suffering more casualties in the beginning of the battle. Having said that, the Atalikans would soon start to deal damage to the Kurgestians.

After about an hour of fighting, the battle had already surpassed more than 10,000. Yet, both sides not wanting to give up, would still fight. The Atalikans would attempt a flank on the Kurgestians, but were pushed back by the cavalry.

The Kurgestians needed a quick victory, so they organised a frontal assault to push the Atalikans to retreat once and for all. The reserve force was assembled just behind the Kurgestian lines, and they pushed towards the Atalikans to force them to a retreat.

The frontal attack greatly surprised the Atalikans, not expecting the Kurgestians to throw their reserves to the battleship. The Atalikans tried to stop the assault, but could only do as much as delay them. The rebel leader of the Atalikans ordered his men to retreat, as he fought the Kurgestians with little amount of troops he had.

The rest of the Atalikans retreated, with only a small portion staying behind to give some time. Unfortunately, the Kurgestian cavalry would pursue the retreating soldiers and picked off as many stragglers as they possibly could.

Back in the battlefield, the rebel leader and the rest would give their all. Unfortunately, the difference in numbers was too big. One by one, the Atalikans would fall. Their numbers was just not enough to stop the Kurgestians. And after 20 minutes of fighting, the last rebel of the Atalikans would die.

The casualties one both sides were major, with the Atalikans suffering more than 14,000 casualties, and the Kurgestians with only 8,000. The all prisoners captured would be executed for treason, most unfortunately dying a slow painful death.

The door to Tilokas was open, ready to be brought down to flames by the Kurgestians. The day after the battle, the Kurgestians would once again advance to defeat the Atalikans.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
Koriandeath Koriandeath

Originally I wanted the Atalikans to win, but then I kinda changed it to the Kurgestians early on because the rebels winning their first battle would kinda not make sense. And also I wanted the Mastanians to actually get involved, but i scrapped it last second because it wouldn't just feel right.
