Chapter 2: Show Off

"Hitoshi Shinso." Eira said. "Class 1-C student, enrolled in general studies, huh. Raise your hand so I know where you are."

Eira glanced around until she spotted the indigo colored hair student with purple eyes. The paper described him as a decent student, though he failed the practical exam.

'I wonder what his quirk is.' she thought.

"Anyway, let's hurry onto the stage. If you perform well, I'll consider putting in a word for you to have you transferred into whatever course you want to take." Eira said.

Hitoshi's eyes widened and followed Eira onto the stage. He knew that his chance of winning was close to zero, but he wasn't going to give up the opportunity given to him.

"Match begins!"

"So, do you have anything to say?" Eira asked.

Hitoshi smiled, "I do actually. You see, I have my own dream. But due to this quirk, it seems like a curse, it's the reason why I failed the practical exam. Everyone else passed though, so how does it feel being blessed?"

Eira furrowed her eyebrows, not understanding what Hitoshi was getting at.

"What are you-"

Suddenly, Eira froze. She wasn't able to control herself and could only look at Hitoshi who had a wide grin on his face.

"A brainwashing quirk!" The announcers said. "Eira has fallen into his trap! What will happen now!"

"Turn around and lose for me." Hitoshi muttered.

Everyone else watched in anxiousness waiting for Eira to turn around and walk out of the platform. They couldn't believe Eira had fallen for the trap, but she didn't know the quirk he had.

"A brainwashing quirk, huh." Eira said.

"Huh?" Hitoshi was shocked. "You snapped out of it?"

"I see how it works now, it only takes effect if someone responds to you. But unfortunately, your opponent is on a higher scale than you could imagine." Eira replied, not minding the consequences. "Now I understand why you failed the practical exam, since it was more physical based."

Eira glanced up at the sky, "Blessed you say? I guess you could say that I am since you know nothing about me. Hitoshi Shinso, you lost."

Spikes of ice appeared on the ground and directly hit Hitoshi's chest causing him to fly out of the arena.

"You are good, Shinso, but instead of focusing on other people. Work on yourself instead." Eira said as she watched Hitoshi walk off.

"The next opponent will be Shoto Todoroki." Eira announced with the piece of paper in her hands.

This time, the person she was looking for was easy to spot. White and red hair with a scar across his face, she's heard multiple things about this student from All Might.

"Endeavor's son, huh." Eira said while looking at Shoto. "I've heard about your mother too, my quirk is similar to hers. Only difference is that mine is much stronger."

This statement caused Shoto to grit his teeth.

"So show me whose powers will you use, your father's or your mother's? Or maybe even both?" Eira asked.

"I'll never use that bastard's power." Shoto said as held out his hand. "I'll show you right here."

Eira grinned when Shoto created a big ice glacier and directed it towards her.

"Impressive, but this isn't enough." she muttered.

With a flick of the wrist, she as well created an ice glacier. The difference was that the one she created was bigger and stronger than what Shoto had created. It was quickly destroyed by Eira with ease.

"You generate ice from your body, but me? I create ice out of nothing, out of thin air. That is my quirk, Ice Manipulation. Whatever you can do, I can do better." Eira said.

"Tsk." Shoto muttered.

"Let the fun begin!"

Thick layers of ice surrounded the two and hid them from the eyes of the audience. The floor was also covered in ice and everyone could feel how chilly it was getting. The temperature was starting to drop tremendously and some were worried it was actually going to start snowing.

"I-it's getting pretty cold." Midnight muttered as she watched from afar.

Inside, Shoto was struggling to do anything against Eira. It was like whatever he was dancing on Eira's palm. Whatever attack he did was instantly negated by Eira, it was like she could see the future.

"Let it rain icicles." Eira said.

From above, dozens of icicles appeared, and dropped down at Shoto who quickly ran around to avoid getting hit. While that was happening, Eira was walking towards Shoto slowly with a stoic smile on her face.

Soon enough, there was nowhere else for Shoto to go. It was either that he was going to get hit by the sharp icicles or by Eira. Both weren't a good choice.

"In a real battle, you wouldn't have time to think." Eira said.

Before Shoto even realized it, Eira was already in front of him, and a foot covered in ice was heading towards his face. Luckily, he reacted quick enough, and blocked it with his arms in time.

However, the force of the kick was strong enough to push him through the thick layers of ice, and onto the edge of the stage.

Finally, the audience was able to see what was going on. Shoto had numerous scratches on his body while Eira emerged with nothing.

Shoto gasped for air and fell on one knee, he didn't know being inside the ice box had caused this much irritation to his airways. He was filled with so much adrenaline that he couldn't tell that the temperature was below zero.

"Again, you're still thinking." Eira said.

In an instant, before he could react, he felt a knee to his face as he was forced out of bounds.

The fight ended rather uneventfully since the audience couldn't see what was happening on the inside.

"Before we proceed into the next match, I have an announcement to make." Eira said. "I'll be picking two more people to fight before Midnight takes over again. Then my assessment will be over."

People were wondering what Eira was talking about, what did she mean by assessment? Was she picking the people she thought had potential to be the next heroes?

Suddenly, the people who didn't want to be picked wanted to be picked. Even if they were to get injured, if Eira thought highly of them, then this could be a great opportunity.

"What do you have in mind?" Midnight asked.

"Of course I don't want to be leading the festival, that's your job. I just want to see who has a great future ahead of them. As of right now, I'm not that disappointed actually." Eira said.

"You sure don't sound like a seventeen year old kid, you sound older than me." Midnight said.

Eira laughed, "That's because I've gone through things some adults wouldn't go through in their entire lives. After everything is over, I go back to an empty household. No one my age should ever deal with the things I went through. Too strong is a blessing as well as a curse."

Midnight was left speechless and Eira continued, "Anyway, Momo Yaoyorozu, you're up next. Let's go to the stage."

"H-huh? Me?" Momo muttered.

"Yes, you. Now come up, you're being assessed in everything." Eira replied.

'What is she talking about?' Momo thought.

Nonetheless, the second to last match of the assessment began.
