Chapter 2: A Warrior Was Born
As David was closing his eyes, a contester samurai tries to slice him in half. David feels the wind coming from it, as he has been training for this moment for the past two years. He quickly takes his sword out, a double-handed sword with interesting symbols on it, and blocks the incoming blow. David smirks a bit, feeling confident in his ability. The samurai is amazed by his skill and starts to fear David. Then the sword of David catches his eye.,
-Wait isn't that...
David slashes through the samurai, splashing blood everywhere. As he starts to fight other contestants, a spectator far above others smiles at him. It is a girl with brown hair and green eyes, she is wearing two earrings that have a jade tied to it. She is in a beautiful kimono and is wearing a neckband with another jade on it, she is wearing pink lipstick and she looks as if she is the same age as David. She is sitting on a throne next to a middle-aged man who is sitting on an even bigger throne. The middle-aged man is in a formal and expensive uniform and has a stern look on his face. An old man behind the girl comes out from the shadows and starts to speak with a tone that shows wisdom:
-My princess, may I have the privilege to ask why are you smiling like that?
The girl replies with an amused but sinister attitude:
-That man... He seems like a strong person. He killed one of the best contestants in the tournament in a few seconds... I wonder who he is.
The old man replies with a frown:
-He is a mere human, my princess. He is probably looking for the small money price like every other human contester here.
The girl looks with shiny, sinister eyes:
-Now? Because I see much more than that.
The girl was right, David wasn't looking for the prize, instead, he was looking for a teammate to overthrow the heavens. David's eyes were shining with courage and determination as if he were a tree in the middle of a storm. He slashes through several people as if he is a berserker. After some point, he even forgets his own goal. He calms himself down by taking time to breathe, the pain he feels from the death of his parents is too much and it angers him and makes him lose control. He wonders: Why did Quora, the prime god, kill my family? Was it for fun? Or is there something going on?.. As David says these, a female warrior who has eye-catching armor and a cold attitude comes near him. David can see that this woman has a strong aura and presence so she is a demigod. The woman talks coldly, not having any intention to kill him but as if she doesn't care about him either:
-You are a human right? Why are you here? For the prize?
David replies with a calm attitude:
-I have other goals...
-Whatever your goal is, you are still a human. You won't stand a chance during the next stage. You can't manipulate aura, you can't use oriki, you don't even have a high strength...So for your own sake, leave.
David gets quite angry but smiles:
-You say oriki, eh?
-Yes, oriki. The techniques of manipulating the core energy, aura. By manipulating this energy we demigods can achieve wonderous fighting capabilities if trained properly. From throwing fireballs to creating explosions to even creating our special techniques like soriki which is a domain of our...
-Yeah yeah I know all that.
-Then why aren't you leaving for your own good?
David smiles.
-Who said I can't use oriki?
David releases a sudden energy outburst from his body, creating an aura around him. The aura is so thick that the woman coughs blood because of it. The woman talks with a raspy voice:
-You pesky...
David slashes through the woman. Everybody around him starts to fear his actions and they beg to get out. After every contestant leaves the arena, David has a sad and regretful face. He expected to find a brave teammate, but all he found was a bunch of cowards. As he was thinking of leaving, an amused voice was heard from far above the spectator seats. It is the girl who is on the throne, she slowly walks down and claps her hands, looking at David with amusement.
-Wonderful, wonderful. What a spectacular tournament!
David looks at her with confusion. He speaks with a tired voice.
-And who are you supposed to be?
The girl has an amused smile and he starts to talk with an excited voice.
-Me? I am Yui Susunoo, the one and only princess of the Susunoo clan and the direct granddaughter of Quora. And I am also your next opponent...
