Chapter 5: The Centipede And The Snake
*Somewhere in the desert of Desirata*
-Urgh this place is way too hot for me. I cant even see properly in here.
Says Yui, clearly frustrated from the boiling weather. David speaks amusingly:
-You could have stayed in your palace, princess.
-And get scolded by my father? No, I would prefer to die here rather than that.
-Then bear with me for a few more minutes because according to this map, we are really close to city Kalifata.
The two continues to travel on the back of two ikboa, a animal that is special to the deserts of Desirata. As they travel for 15 more minutes, they finally see the city Kalifata, still far away from where they are. Yui lets out a sigh and speaks:
-Oh finally, we can buy some water and food and res-
Suddenly they feel rumbling beneath their feet. David gets a little scared and pulls out his sword, Yui speaks in response:
-Are you gonna slash the ground?
After Yui says this a giant centipede comes out of the ground. David talks with surprise and fear as he points to the centipede:
-Nah, I am gonna slash that thing.
The centipede screams loudly, so loud that it almost made the two's ears bleed. After the scream, Yui leaps off the ground to slice through the centipede. Unluckily, the centipede has a really tough skin and Yui's blade bounces off it. The centipede is quite annoyed by Yui's attempt, so it tries to bite Yui. Yui reacts quickly and throws a lightning bolt to the mouth of the centipede, she then shouts to David:
-Are you gonna do something?!
David thinks before he acts: This thing has armor like skin that is way too thick for any bladed weapon to handle, so what if I... David clenches his fist and oriki to create a energy barrier around it, then he punches so hard that a shockwave releases and a part of centipede's skin crack. Yui then dashes forward and uses eoriki to electrify her blade before she stabs the cracked area on the centipede's skin. The centipede cries in pain and moves its tail to hit the two, Yui dodges while David is thrown back. David manages to stand straight right before the centipede moves forward to bite him. David leaps high and gets on top of the centipede. The centipede screams and tries to drop David. As it does that, David manages to stab the eye of the centipede, causing immense pain for the beast. After that he punches the head of the centipede so hard that the centipede stops moving, Resulting in the death of it. Yui then blushes a little at the courage of David. She whispers:
-Damn he is just my type...
David assumes he heard something, replies:
-Hm? Did you say something?
-N-no I didnt.
She then wears a cold attitude and moves away her head to hide her blush.
-Hmph.
David looks dumbfounded and thinks: I can't understand girls. Did I do something wrong? Yui then turns around to face the city Kalifata.
-Okay, lets go and find somewhere to rest...
*2 hours later, Desirata, Kalifata*
The two is in a inn now, trying to rent a room for the night. Yui speaks:
-Seriously?! There is only one room?
The innkeeper replies:
-Yes, if you dont want it then leave.
Then David gets inbetween them and starts to talk:
-I think one room is better than two. We dont have enough money to have two rooms anyways. Yui then gets flustered and turns away from David as she says:
-You just wanna see me after shower dont you?
-W-what?! N-no!
The inkeeper talks:
-Dont worry ma'am, we dont have showers in the rooms.
Yui replies outrageously:
-You say what?! Where do you guys get cleaned?!
-We have public bathhouses build by the Tengria government as a gift to our lord and ruler Maratahj. But only rich people can get in it so we dont really use it that much. So it only works for devaians.
Yui asks with confusion:
-Who are devaians? Are they a group of rich people?
-No, they are the demigods of Desirata. They are from the righteous faction and they get better life standards than us mortals which are on the rebel faction. We just hope that our lord and ruler Maratahj can fix this political issue and help us...
David talks:
-So there is a dividence even in Desirata, the nation of wishes huh?
-Indeed there is... but our lord and ruler promised to save us. He is planning something.
David scoffs:
-Yeah, sure...
Yui hits David with a elbow, reminding that they should keep their head cool.The inkeeper than says:
-Anyways here is the key of your room. Hope you enjoy it. And you can also go to the nearby bathhouse to clean yourself.
Yui smiles:
-Thank you! *Returns to David* Let's go.
David and Yui walks upstairs. The stairs are dusty and full of moist. It looks like it can break any moment. They finally reach the door and open it. They examine the room. Yui realizes there is one bed and blushes. David than says:
-I will sleep on the floor, you can have the bed.
Yui then replies:
-Hmph, I bet you would crave to sleep in the same bed with me.
-What?! I am not a pervert!
-Yea yeah, whatever. Anyways, I am gonna leave to the bathhouse. So stay here and wait for me.
-Urgh, Very well...
Yui then leaves the room. David falls on the bed and tries to sleep. He hopes that he doesnt see his parents in a nightmare again. Suddenly, a loud noise is heard outside the inn. David looks outside and squinches his eyes. He sees two thieves on the ground, and next to them is a man that looks to be around 20, with pale skin and snake eyes.
