Chapter 3: Chapter 3

In school – Ludwig was about raise his hand. It was his second class, and he was attentively paying attention to the teacher. The murder left him very unfazed, or to be more specific, it gave him a new swing in life. Today felt better than any other day, it was like the cage he was in broke apart, and now, he was free.

As he raised his hand, a knock was heard at the door. The teacher frowned, thinking a student came late from the break, as the class had just started. But when he expected the student to enter after knocking, another knock came.

It made him even more irritated; a normal student would just come in and sit down, at most excusing himself for being late. A knock could mean the student was shy, but a second knock clearly meant that it he needed to open the door.

So, he did, still not sure why. The door was facing the teachers table, away from the seats (possibly to ensure no student sneaks past the teacher when they come late), so no one could see what happened at the other side.

They only saw the slightly shocked expression of the teacher as he went out of the door, closing it behind himself. The students were confused but didn't think much about it and talked among themselves, some asking whether they had homework for the class, while other talked about gaming and other free time activities.

Ludwig already knew what this was all about, but he still started talking with a school-friend of his, not bothered by the fact that he might get to know some 'shocking' news soon. The teacher soon came back in, calling him out. The students were momentarily quiet before Ludwig and the teacher were out, then they continued, no one cared much about Ludwig to ask about him.

Acting like he knew nothing, Ludwig followed the teacher and was surprised to see two police officers outside, he said shyly "Hey…", acting all nervous like he would normally do when talking to a police officer.

The police officers nodded at the teacher, who then went inside, not really sure what happened. As the three were alone in the hall, Ludwig was told about the deaths of his parents, he 'didn't believe it' and cried. He had tried out crying, and he wasn't really good at it previously, but now, he somehow could do it. They were no real tears, for in his mind, he only laughed at the police officers and about all that happened.

They went to the police station and took his statements, questioned him and gave him the rest belongings of his parents. He was kept there for his own safety for a whole day, and then went back to his home, where he first looked for any cameras and recording devices. He had ordered a tool for that. After knowing that nothing of the sort was there, he started having fun for the rest of the day, he was exempted from school for the next day.

He had a new plan. Previously, he wasn't sure what he would be studying in university, as he was already in his last year of High School, that wasn't good. But now, he understood. He wanted to learn Psychology, understand his own feelings… and best of all, talk with those that committed murder and ask them how they feel.

From the non, Ludwigs's life went just as he had planned. With 18, he had lost his family and got much support from the state, he inherited the home and all stocks his parents had – which were surprisingly more than he thought. Apparently, at least from what he read, they wanted to sell them when he was finished with High School and left home, to go on a world journey, a long one.

He sold them a bit later when he thought that he couldn't do anything with them, and he wasn't experienced in stock, but from what he read, the stock was already higher than the initial pay, by quite a lot, apparently, they had bought it when he was just three years old. One can see that they were planning fifteen years into the future because they became annoyed at their baby.

He kept the house for another year as he finished school and had all applied, then sold it a few days before he left the country for a worldly renown university in a neighbouring country. He studied, then fulfilled his wish of talking with murderers. Some were regretful, for a variety of reasons, they were not to his liking, and he didn't talk much with them than he had to.

But then he had murderers, some even serial killers, who had killed numerous people. They were the interesting ones, and he lost himself in their stories. Of course, he wasn't stupid to be like them, killing one specific type of person.

No, after long self-research, he understood that he liked the murder itself, maybe it was a way to show that he had control, but it made him very satisfactory. He didn't have a strong hate for anyone, really. The only two were dead, so his new prey were random people he found.

Yes, he had not stopped murdering. He kept doing it after the initial sensation. It didn't matter who he killed, as long as they had no relation to him at all. He killed in the neighbouring country some unassuming homeless people at first, and then went over to other people where their disappearance wouldn't matter.

Many kinds of murder weapons were to his liking – the gun, knifes, needles, cables and other things that were sharp and fast to kill. His favourite one were strong wires that he could use as a whip or choke someone. At first, he just played with them because he read about that in a novel, but they were truly his favourite after trying them out.

His life was very successful. Many books were written by him, some showing his true emotion, like his masterpiece 'Serial Killer's Passion – The fixation on Murder?' which was sold thousands of times. Other books also brought him some fame, and he earned quite a sum.

The murderers he worked with were very varied. Some were cannibals, some were hateful people… and some were just as smart as he was – they had even seen the shine in his eyes when they told him about their murders, but never told anyone about it.

But he knew there was a very essential thing that he didn't have compared to them – they always wanted to become famous through murder or fulfil a specific goal with it. That wasn't the case for him. He just wanted to kill as a 'hobby', if you may call it that. The thrilling feeling was what made him keep doing it, and to keep doing it, he was always very careful.

With this, he had many years of joy and success. He never became bored of it, but one day, he was too weak for the task of it, so he let go of his work and just became a normal therapist. His hobby gave him a good physique, which helped him when he married.

He had a son, a single child like he was, and brought him up like he had wished his parents would have done. He was behaved and told them everything he experienced, the only thing that satisfied Ludwig besides murder was taking care of children and teaching them how to behave – it felt like he gave them the right way to live, although his path was completely different from theirs, he knew that with the right parents, he would've been just as behaved.
