Chapter 3: TOO MANY MARGARITAS?

"No why would you say that?"

"What is the problem? I did not tell them anything wrong."

Tiffany yelled through her cell phone as the Mercedes Benz sped forward.

"Don't you understand Tiffany?"

"No, you do not understand, Adam."

Before he could say more, she hung up the call, throwing her phone off, and it narrowly passed off from hitting Bea's head as she drove the car.

Bea was quite aware of her boss's temper. Tiffany Mendoza was short-tempered while Melanie was the most modest and the polite one.

"He is an asshole for even trying to speak to me without popping out the question, you know."

Bea remained quiet not knowing what to say and what not, in order not to elevate the situation any longer.

"Make a U-turn, Bea."

"What?"

"Make a fucking U-turn. I do not want to be home just yet."

She repeated and without any question, Bea obliged turning the car to the other end.

"Is that girl even suitable for our son, Fiona?"

"What do you mean, Harry?"

She inquired, dropping her phone call to her son.

"I just do not like her character..."

Her husband pointed out. He could never understand the obsession of his wife for the Mendoza girls.

She always wanted a daughter of her own but could never have. That explained a lot but he could never grasp why try to get one of them to be their daughter-in-law.

"Tiffany is outgoing, carrier-oriented, a bit too much yes...but she has the heart of gold, Harry."

Fiona came down to Tiffany's defense. And Adam knew that quite well as he sighed on the phone call.

"Heart of gold?"

"Mum! Dad! Can you not argue over this when being on call with me?"

He grabbed his parent's attention.

"You can stop all of this, Adam."

His mother spoke out.

"There is no rush, son. Take your time."

His father interrupted before Fiona could say more, making her glare at her husband.

"Guys, do not fight over this, come on."

Adam was quick to intervene. He knew how his parents were.

"I know exactly what to do, Mum so stop worrying about it ok?"

"Once you give her that ring asking the big question then yes."

Fiona responded. All they heard was a big sigh from the other side before the call ended.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Harry questioned as his wife rolled her eyes at him.

"Your son is not getting any younger. Just so you know."

She spat, getting up to leave. Her husband shook his head off at the remark.

"Mum on your tail to get you hitched?"

"Very funny isn't it, Steven?"

Adam made an annoyed face. His younger brother just liked to poke fun at him and watch him get distressed.

"What?! You guys have been dating since time immemorial.

It is only obvious that you do it..."

"Do what?"

Adam implored. Steven got up from the sitting position.

"Put the ring on her finger.

Don't you think that promise ring had served its time?"

He let out making Adam think about the petty promise ring he had given to Tiffany when they first started to date and she had never taken it off ever since that day.

"To be honest, I do not even know..."

"Yeah go on..."

Adam stopped the moment he realized Steven was filming him.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm going to mail this to my sister-in-law..."

Steven chuckled as his brother's expression transformed from a confused one too soon to kill him.

"Steven, don't you dare!"

"You know me...I'm going off now.

It's time for me to leave Spain for good."

Adam was quite well aware of the mischievous tricks of his brother. And also about the temper of Tiffany Mendoza.

"I heard Fanny could be in our place, to be honest."

Steven left with one last remark to get his brother to overthink the whole night knowing exactly how he was.

"Tiffany? Is that you?"

She turned around to find Sean Wilson, her classmate.

"Sean?"

"It's been a while huh?"

He smiled taking a seat beside her. She dropped her margarita on the table.

"What are you doing here?"

"This is my bar."

Sean responded.

Tiffany could not believe her ears and accidentally spilled the glass of liquor on him.

"I'm so sorry!"

"It's fine...hey it's alright..."

She tried to dry his shirt off with the tissues as much as she could take together.

"I think you had too many of these margaritas. Let's get you home."

She shook her head in a no.

"What happened?"

"I do not want to go home."

They shared a look for a brief moment and he got up, forwarding his hand for her to hold.

"Fine then you can crash at my place for the night."

She did not know if it was the right thing to do but her sensible senses had bid her farewell a long time ago.

"Where are you taking her, sir?"

Bea was quick to stand up from her place as she saw her boss being taken away by some stranger.

"I know him, Bea."

Tiffany slurred out the words. Sean held her together.

"But Miss Mendoza..."

"You can drive with us if you want?"

Sean added and nothing more was said as he took Tiffany with him and Bea followed them behind.

When the morning sun hit her face, she hummed in response, moving on the bed.

"Miss Mendoza? Are you fine?"

The door was broken down all of a sudden and it made Tiffany wake up abruptly, not realizing what happened.

She saw Bea and then behind her the police.

"What happened?"

She turned sideways to see who it was.

It was Sean in just a towel and that made her look down at herself, underneath the duvet.

Her mind was blown off as she could not grasp the moment.

"There was an attempt to break in, sir so we had to..."

And the sounds of clicking pictures made her look at the entrance...

"What the fuck!! Get off!"

Bea pushed the man off and came to cover Tiffany right away.

Maybe it was already too late.
