Chapter 8: Chapter8-Guild of Concealers

300 seconds whizzed by in a flash. Soon, several notifications lit up before Jason's eyes.

[Prayer completed, you have acquired the divine spell [Healing].]

[Divine Spell: Healing]

[Instantly restores 30% HP of nearby allied units. Cooldown one hour.]

[Description: A special ability branded in the soul, formed from the residual power of a fallen deity, does not require mana to use.]

Observing the new addition in his skill list, Jason simply nodded.

Healing is quite a common divine spell; one of the heroes under Jason's command in his past life had learned it as well.

Therefore, he wasn't overly excited at the moment.

"Wait a second."

"If it's a fixed recovery for nearby allied units?" Jason suddenly realized something.

His Subspecies Bone Dragons were quite large, and if they all crowded around him, probably only about eighty percent could benefit from the [Healing] effect.

But Banshees, being a special kind of Soulform, could actually stack on top of each other, right?

Doesn't that mean, at this stage, one use of [Healing] could essentially allow almost all his soldiers to significantly boost their HP bar in combat?

Then this divine spell is quite useful!

"The chances for clearing dungeons just got a bit higher." Jason's lips curved into a slight smile.

Meanwhile, his mind was already brewing with more strategies.

At this stage of the game, just after the launch, there are quite a few deity statues scattered in various regions of the wilderness, each harboring divine spells.

"Other players simply can't spare the time to pray, but I have the thousandfold acceleration, allowing me to use the statues quickly."

"If I start buying information on these statues, couldn't I acquire multiple divine spells?" A lightbulb went off in Jason's mind.

The drawback of divine spells is the substantial investment required for learning them.

However, inherently, due to their connection with the fallen deities in the Divine Age lore, their values are outstanding, offering mostly fixed percentage increases in benefits.

These divine spells remain relevant from the early to the later stages of the game and don't risk becoming obsolete.

But for Jason, with the thousandfold acceleration, divine spells come with only advantages and no drawbacks.

Spending some money to acquire information on the statues would definitely be hugely profitable!

The only issue was how to spread the word to other players that Jason was buying information on the statues while he was pioneering.

"It looks like I'll need to save up some gold coins and build up my reputation. Once I establish a trading caravan, I can unlock the global trading function included in the game."

"Not just buying information on statues, I can also sell off the soldiers and equipment I've outgrown." Jason was quickly strategizing.

As for how to swiftly acquire gold coins and boost reputation.

It's simple, clearing dungeons for the first time would definitely yield a substantial amount.

After planning his strategy, Jason continued to walk towards the dungeon entrance as leisurely as if he were strolling in his own backyard.

As he ventured deeper into the forest, higher-tier monsters began to appear.

But with a simple wave of his hand, Jason dispatched his Subspecies Bone Dragons.

Under the terrifying dragon breath, even the monsters that had reached tier-4 instantly fell, transforming into his EXP.

Incidentally, the reason why the tier of the surrounding monsters increased so rapidly was due to Jason taking a perilously quick shortcut to reach the dungeon location.

Unfortunately, under the terrifying might of the attribute-doubled tier-5 unit, the rising level of the wild monsters couldn't delay their demise even by a second.

Instant kill!

Instant kill!

Still, an instant kill!

And by the time Jason arrived at a clearing in the forest, obviously cleared by human intervention, a notification chime coincided perfectly.

[Congratulations on reaching level 10, you have comprehended the advanced rogue skill - [Assassination]!]

"Not bad, leveling efficiency is decent." Jason nodded, casually opening his attribute panel.

[Player Name: Smith]

[Class: Thief]

[Level: 10]

[HP: 800+3000]

[Attack Power: 180+500]

[Defense: 100+500]

[Magic Resistance: 50+300]

[Speed: 180]

[Skills: [Featherfall], [Assassination: Initiates an instant teleport behind the opponent, delivering substantial damage]]

Most of his attributes were currently provided by his equipment.

After leveling up to 10 and acquiring the advanced skill, the Thief, his initial class, wouldn't offer any more abilities, and the attribute increase per level was minimal.

However, that was not a concern.

According to Jason's plan, he should be able to secure a hidden class transition within the next few days.

At the moment, Jason stood in the clearing.

Soon, a new system prompt appeared.

[Congratulations, you have discovered the dungeon: Guild of Concealers (iron). Enter? Yes/No?]

"Yes."

Jason promptly affirmed his choice.

With his action, the surrounding scenery quivered slightly and then transformed.

What was once an open forest now featured several grey-black tents, surrounded by wooden fences, with vague figures moving inside.

Jason knew he had entered the dungeon space.

If his memory served correctly, this iron-level dungeon housed about one hundred fifty Novice Concealer Acolytes, all tier-4 units, plus a level 40 boss, which took a month to be conquered after the game's launch in his past life.

Among iron-level dungeons, Guild of Concealers belonged to the more challenging category.

The reason was straightforward: some iron-level dungeons were won by sheer numbers, featuring thousands of tier-1 and tier-2 units.

With the maximum team size of fifty players allowed, gamers could initially strategize to overwhelm them by sheer numbers.

But elite route dungeons required solid strength to overcome, not to mention Guild of Concealers.

Due to a hidden quest line, its difficulty was nearly the highest among iron-level dungeons.

Of course, with higher difficulty came better rewards.

However, for Jason, so-called elite route dungeons were merely a joke.

Having just mentioned his tier-5 Subspecies Bone Dragons, wouldn't they easily bulldoze through this dungeon?

He summoned his formidable forces, then proceeded without much strategizing.

After all,

With tier-5 against tier-4, the advantage is mine!

Why bother with tactics?

Just steamroll through!

Attack!

Instantly, the Bone Dragons, like unleashed hounds, surged forward.

The Banshees, brandishing their ethereal scythes, displayed an excited, bloodthirsty gleam.

The battle was overwhelmingly one-sided.

The Novice Concealer Acolytes hadn't even had time to react before they felt the earth-shattering charge!

Under the fierce onslaught of the Subspecies Bone Dragons, it was like a meat grinder in action!

In Divine Age, the game boasts a highly realistic physics engine.

With a one-tier advantage, plus the colossal size of the Bone Dragons augmenting their terrifying impact force, an explosive assault was unleashed!

This was something the tier-4 humanoid creatures couldn't withstand.

The fences around the encampment offered no resistance whatsoever, being shattered instantly.

Numerous tents were torn apart by the charge, the icy dragon breath igniting everything around, filling the air with cold, white flames.

Accompanied by screams of agony, the Bone Dragons completely penetrated the camp.

Several statues clad in black robes were toppled and trampled into pieces.

And although the Novice Concealer Acolytes reacted swiftly, drawing their weapons to slash,

But...

The damage wasn't too low, but with the Bone Dragons' damage reduction and the attribute decrease caused by their dragon breath, these monsters would need a lot of time to kill any of Jason's soldiers...

But clearly, they didn't have that chance.

The second wave of attack was incoming!

The Banshees unleashed their skill—

[Agonizing Wail]!

Instantly, a piercing wail echoed all around.

Almost all the concealer acolytes were struck with fear at the same time.

They scattered, trying to flee!

-666

-588

-671

Above their heads floated several bright red damage numbers.

And within those three seconds of terror,

The Bone Dragons continued their onslaught with their dragon breath.

At the same time, they swung and smacked with their gigantic skeletal frames.

Meanwhile, the Banshees activated another skill [Soulform], directly infiltrating the bodies of those acolytes.

They began to possess and inflict damage.

Swiftly, as the first novice concealer acolyte's HP dropped to zero and he collapsed to the ground, the dungeon's horde of creatures began to crumble.

One by one, they perished, transforming into specks of experience.

Jason's ears were filled with a cascade of notifications.

"Killed novice concealer acolyte, gained 121 experience points!"

"Killed…"

...

As for Jason himself, he quickly applied the effect of [Featherfall], drew the Losfall Sword, and charged forward into the fray.

At this stage, bolstered by his equipment, his attack power surpassed that of any of his soldiers!

Jason's damage output was far from low!
