Chapter 4: Wen Qing's Place...
"Are you sure that is enough? I don't mind spending more on you."
"It is already more than my annual salary."
Wen Qing held her shopping bags gingerly, afraid that the things inside would be damaged or something.
She had thought that Han Li was one of those guys who would at least spend money like regular people seeing that he behaved as such, but no, this dude was spending like he was drinking water.
Wen Qing was initially only willing to buy some simple things that would at least make him feel like he had bought something, but Han Li then pulled her from store to store.
He could buy anything and everything that he thought would look good on her and the more experienced salespeople took this to their advantage.
Wen Qing even started feeling strange about his enthusiasm. Maybe he was one of those guys that bought girls material things and the girl would have to pay with her body?
This practice disgusted her on normal occasions, but if Han Li was the one, it was… it was possible.
"Where are we going after this? I hope this is the end of shopping, it is more tiring than I expected."
"Let me drop these things at my place, then we can send the driver back to the hotel with yours."
"Sure."
Han Li then continued to ask questions that he deemed necessary as he endeavored to learn more about the rich people's society, at least he needed to learn as much as Wen Qing could teach and in about five minutes, they arrived at an apartment complex right at the edge of the city center.
'Even an employee can live in such a place.'
"I need to rent a house."
"Yeah, I was wondering why you'd stay in the hotel when it was cheaper to rent a place."
"I wanted to meet Sister Qing. If I had rented a place, we would have never met."

Ignoring the strange glances from the driver, Lu Fan offered to help Wen Qing with her things. There were too many small bags.
Why would one store give you a dozen bags when the things you bought could fit in one? Han Li did not understand their thinking. But seeing Wen Qing behave normally, he did not ask and just went with it.
"How am I supposed to get back to the hotel if you let the driver go back?"
"…"
'Are you still going back? Pretend, just continue pretending.'
"I will take you in my car. It is not as good as the ousado, but it is still something."
"I am alright with any car. Just don't want to use the subway."
Han Li followed Wen Qing into a building and they got into an elevator that soon reached the tenth floor.
"A decent place you got here."
"Thank you. Been paying for a mortgage for god knows how long now."

Han Li did not know what to say to that. He was complaining that his place was locker-sized, while she was complaining that her place was a black hole, constantly burdening her account. Everybody has problems it seems.
"Where should I put this?"
"Just place them here. I will sort them out later. Tea or Coffee?"
"Tap water."
"…. Sure."
Han Li started inspecting the place and was quite envious. It was nothing compared to the room he was staying in, but there was a difference between renting a place and booking a room at a hotel.
The current place that he could call his own was… not suitable for comparison. He did not even trust the place enough to keep his documents there.
"Here. Let me take a quick shower first."
"Sure."
Han Li made himself comfortable, as he started going through his phone.
He had changed his phone and bought a couple of gadgets that he would normally avoid, and it was quite fun.
There was a very big difference between any other phone and those high-end flagship phones. The user experience alone was enough to make you feel that it was well worth your money. It was also these seemingly inconsequential differences that further emphasized the divide between the rich and the poor.
High-end phones were not necessarily more expensive than normal phones. Just a couple of yuan and even if they sold each of them at 10000 yuan each, they would still make a 1000% plus profit.
But these capitalists just have to make things complicated for profit.
It left Han Li feeling a bit disgruntled. But it is what it is.
He could now afford it and he even wanted to order a custom-made one from the manufacturer. He had read somewhere that there were some guys with more money than they knew what to do with, who custom-made phones that were as expensive as 400 million yuan.
You could start a company and help solve the unemployment issues in the world with that amount. You could buy a goddamn mine in some countries with that amount. Maybe feed the poor and shelter the homeless. But no, you just bought a phone plated in gold and diamonds. The damn thing is so heavy, Han Li even wondered how the guy even used it. His wrist must be quite something.
"Your money your choice I guess."
The unfortunate thing was that Han Li could see himself doing the exact thing.
The things that he had gone through had made him selfish. Before he started doing charity and whatnot, he was sure as hell going to spend an insane sum on himself.
He was sure as hell going to be even more extreme, the only downside is that he only had a week or he could have custom-made a gold-plated tissue roll for all he cared.
As for paying and waiting, that would not work, he had tried it and the sum he deposited for a suit was not counted as consumption.

With all his extravagance, he had only managed to spend 450,000+ yuan. It was truly difficult to spend so much money.
Even if he did the exact same thing he had done so far, he'd have to do it more than 2000 times to complete the mission. Were there so many hotels in the country? Could he visit all of them in a week?
That was impossible.
"What are you thinking about? Are you gonna come to my room, I have never done it in the living room."
