Chapter 2: Synapse Sovereignty Framework : System?

This abrupt and intense hunger took Roxana by surprise.

A hollow feeling originated from her stomach, prompting an excessive flow of saliva.

At that moment, Roxana was solely driven by an overwhelming urge. Hunger consumed her thoughts, directing her attention to the remains of the eggshell from which she emerged.

The cracked, oddly-shaped, whitish-orange eggshell seemed oddly appealing, as if inviting Roxana with its enticing scent.

Approaching the shell, Roxana hesitated, puzzled by her mammalian, fox-like nature and the concept of hatching from an egg. Was such a thing even edible for her kind?

Despite her reservations, the gnawing hunger left Roxana with little choice. Seizing a shard of the shell, she bit into it eagerly.

To her surprise, the taste was far from repulsive; it reminded her of freshly baked bread, a flavor perhaps influenced by the surrounding volcanic sands.

The hunger pangs subsided slightly after consuming the shell, but her brief moment of relief was interrupted by the sudden emergence of an unusual memory.

This memory, seemingly an inheritance from the egg, revealed two critical pieces of her new existence: her identity and her true name.

Shocked by the revelation, Roxana realized she was a demon, a truth that challenged her every understanding of herself.

The revelation proved to be shockingly difficult for Roxana to digest. Previously, when she noticed the peculiar changes in her body, the thought of being a demon hadn't crossed her mind. She speculated she might have been reborn as some monstrous, humanoid creature, but the idea of being a demon was utterly horrifying.

Yet, the reality was even more alarming than she had feared...

Could it be that she had died and been reincarnated as a demon? But why? It seemed implausible that she had committed enough evils in her past life to warrant such a fate. And since when were demons fox-like? Weren't they supposed to be reptilian entities adorned with wings, horns, and tails? From no perspective did she resemble a traditional demon, so why had this transformation occurred?

Despite her internal protests, Roxana found herself powerless to amend what seemed to be a grave mistake.

As she consumed the eggshell, a lengthy name resonated in her mind: "Lysara Xenthia Lunestra Azraina Evelindra… Mythriell Roxana." It dawned on her that this must be her true demon name, assuming she hadn't misunderstood.

The lore revealed that upon hatching from their eggs, young demons would acquire their true names by eating their eggshells. This name wasn't just a label; it was a seal on their souls, carrying profound significance and was to be kept secret at all costs. Revealing one's true demon name was perilous, as knowledge of it allowed others to inflict irreparable harm. This vulnerability, shared among demons, underscored the critical importance of guarding one's true name—a protective measure akin to how humans might safeguard their social security numbers, where disclosure can lead to identity theft and untold damage.

With this newfound understanding, Roxana resolved never to speak her true name aloud again. This revelation not only deepened her apprehension but also heightened her vigilance.

Accepting her identity as a demon was an undeniable reality, solidified by the acquisition of her true demon name. Faced with an unfamiliar environment and a new world, her immediate priority was to adapt to this drastic change. It was crucial for her to discard her human perspectives; failing to do so could result in her demise under mysterious circumstances, should she not exercise caution.

Roxana was acutely aware of the rarity and fortune of being granted a second chance at life, having experienced death once already. There was no guarantee of a third opportunity should she fall once more.

The eggshell, small in surface area, was quickly consumed by Roxana. As she ingested the last fragment, feeling a modest sense of fullness, a voice once again echoed in her mind. This moment marked the beginning of her journey to navigate the complexities of her existence as a demon, with the wisdom to value her life above all else.

"Activating through the Synapse Sovereignty Framework: The Custom Made Demon Queen System"

Startled yet intrigued, Roxana watched as the physical panel dissolved into the air, replaced by a lattice of shimmering neural pathways that connected directly to her consciousness.

This new interface was a marvel of occult engineering, requiring no physical touch yet responding instantly to her thoughts and desires. In the space where the panel once hovered, a translucent orb now gently pulsed, its core reflecting Roxana's own demonic visage, akin to the creature depicted in the image she represented.

Roxana fixated on her ethereal reflection, contemplating the surreal truth of her being. The portrait was dynamic, shifting with her thoughts, embodying her essence—a small demon bathed in hues of fiery orange, her beauty resonant with the softness of the previously observed image.

"Is this the embodiment of my soul?" Roxana mused, her consciousness fully intertwined with the interface.

The System offered a constellation of functions, each a mere thought away from activation. This toolkit was not a simple collection of editing tools—it was a gateway to the manipulation of her new existence through the power of thought alone.

Roxana's rebirth with these arcane capabilities was more than just a second chance—it was a gateway to unparalleled possibilities, enabling her to influence her world with the sheer force of her will.

Simultaneously, a cognitive attribute matrix materialized next to Roxana's spectral self-portrait:

Talent Ability 1: Soul Peer (Allows the perception of soul residues, tracing their eternal paths.)

Talent Ability 2: Demon Blood (The demon race is bloodthirsty and warlike. It is very easy for you to go berserk whenever you enter combat. In addition, Demon Blood gives you a better affinity with negative energies.)

Evaluation: "Your strength is laughable, yet there's a hint of magic power and charm in you—tragic, given it's wasted on such a frail form. You'd stand a better chance surviving as someone's underling than on your own—unless, of course, you fancy an early demise."

Upon seeing the system's evaluation, Roxana was at a loss for words. Was the system suggesting she become a subordinate, merely after her reincarnation? And what about her lamentably low strength stat? Although she had no benchmark for comparing, she was convinced that a mere score of 2 was inadequate.

The system seemed to be pushing her towards servitude, yet Roxana was not willing to accept such a fate, especially given her second chance at life. Surely, the system was meant to assist her right? If she could harness its full capabilities, she need not endure a dismal existence.

Indeed, she might even rise to command a portion of hell, should she grow sufficiently powerful.

Amid her ambitions, the "Error" shown on the panel, coupled with the presence of a single soul in her possession, captured her attention. This stirred her curiosity about the paths these revelations could illuminate in the broad expanse of her new life.
