Chapter 3: Agreemenet
Without giving me an opportunity to speak, Agares made his eyes inside the room as his eyes scanned the space.
"It seemed you had fun last night, what was her name again?" Agares asked me.
So I was indeed with a woman, she's probably the one who left that letter saying 'I'm sorry'.
Mirroring Iske personality I answered, "It doesn't concern you"
Agares laughed at it, "You don't have to be so guarded up with me, I'm not interested in her, my only interesting is you"
As he said that he approached me and placed a finger on my chin as he made me look deep into his eyes, his crimson eyes were burning, glowing red, and I knew in the same moment that he was using his powers against me.
I diverted my eyes and threw his arm to the side, "I'm not that stupid to fall for your tricks"
He smiled amused, "I see, that's good, it would be no good if you weren't capable of this at least"
As he said that he sat on a chair that was hanging around in a random place in the room, which Iske knows for sure that it doesn't belong there.
Sitting and crossing his legs, Agares smiled, "So, do you remember our deal?"
No, I do not remember a single thing about Iske Grace.
"Yes"
"Very good, I came here to fulfill my part of the agreement" saying that he took out an item out of his suit pocket.
It was a small box, he threw it towards me and I caught mid air, opening it, I saw a small reddish ball, that reminds of a pill.
"It's a Pill made of demonic energy, it will momentarily help you with your 'condition', and it will release the seal on your Mana Core"
A demonic pill, so this is how Iske managed to recover his Mana Core, but this is not a Contract yet, Agares is probably just assessing Iske's capabilities first, he's very cunning, he will not give a Contract without seeing first if the person is indeed worth of it.
But they do have an agreement, which I don't know the contents of, what Agares asked in exchange of this pill?
As I didn't said a thing, Agares got up and approached me, "Take that pill and fulfill your part of the agreement, if you manage to do it, I will personally make a contract with you"
As he moved towards the door and left the room, it felt as though a weight had been lifted from my shoulders, and I was finally able to breathe again.
Agares, he's truly a terrifying being, in the novel he was one of the main villains, one of the most powerful demons, he's persuasive and cunning, The Demon of Communication. A fit title for him.
Why did you have to involve yourself with such a demon?, Iske you fool.
An agreement… It's very frustrating the fact that I have no memories of Iske, the agreement can be countless things, I can't guess what it is, and well the price if I don't fulfill it it's probably my life.
Agares said that if I manage to fulfill my part of the agreement he would personally make a contract with me, which is something very treasured by the demons, since they can only make a single contract with someone else, that means that my mission is not something simple, it must be something difficult, perhaps difficult for Agares, but not for Iske.
The World Academy… Iske is currently 18 years old, that means that we are in the same year he joined the World Academy, so it's safe to assume that the reason in the novel that Iske joined the World Academy was to fulfill his part of the agreement with Agares.
But I still can't see it clearly, what type of agreement it is, or what I need to do for him. There were countless incidents that happened in the academy in the novel, but none of them were orchestrated by Iske.
I will have to try figuring it out from him later.
Looking at my hand I saw the box with the demonic pill in it, then I grabbed the pill and analyzed very thoroughly.
If I take this pill, I'll be able to use Mana, which is essential if I want to survive and change this world's end, but if I do it I'll have a permanent relationship with Agares, and my Mana will be impregnated with demonic essence.
Mana from humans and Mana from demons are different, demons have a much more dark and aggressive type of energy which is not compatible with humans, but with a contract demons are able to get a human used to demonic energy, and this pill is the first step for it.
And if I take this pill I will forever forsake my humanity, I'll become a pawn for Agares and his plans to resurrect the Demon race.
Hundreds of years ago the Alliance race defeated the Demons in the ancient war, it was a bloody war, most of the planet was destroyed, but the demons were defeated, the Demon King was killed, and his six generals sealed.
But some demons hide themselves for centuries, Agares is one of them, he hid and waited for the best opportunity to appear again, and right now is truly the best time to start his plans.
The humans after centuries forgot the terror of the Demons, due to that, Agares can move more freely, and execute his plans, and not only him, but all the other Hidden Demons.
The novel is about that, the Humans which were not prepared were caught off guard by the Demons, there was a war, and it ended on Humans being defeated, the main character was the last light and pillar of humanity, and he died miserably by the hands of the resurrected King of Demons.
That's the end that I wish to change, and if I take this pill I will not be able to do it.
Closing the box I chuckled. If the path you are walking is easy, you are walking the wrong path. I hate that even in another world, I still think about the things that old man said to me.
Since I chose the hardest path, let's go to work, because from now on things will be very, very hard. Starting with recovering my Mana Core.
"Good that I remember a good way to do that, sorry dear Mc, but I will take one of your powerups for me"
