Chapter 4: Black market
As I walk through the city of Emerald, I start comparing it to my own world, the novel was not that detailed in the way they describe things, like landscapes, and character's appearances, which was something that never really bothered me, but now that I'm here I'm realizing that if the novel was a bit more detailed it would be less troublesome for me.
Anyway, Emerald city is not that different from any other metropoly back in earth, the only difference is the lame name, but overall it is the same things, but of course there are some differences, and the most compelling one is the enormous building that is it seemed to be built around a tree.
The Association building, the organization/company that controls the Ascenders in this world, that one of their main agencies, I had forgotten that there was one in Emerald city, I really need to start remembering such things.
Association handles all the Ascenders in the world, the licensed ones of course, every Ascender must get their license once they awaken their powers in an Association agency, if not they will become illegal Ascenders. A problem that I currently don't have since Iske is a licensed Ascender.
Although the problem I have is much more complex. Iske is a 'Criminal' if you can put it that way, although he's not really a 'Criminal', a prisoner would be more fitting, four years ago when he was 14, he entered a silly tournament for young Ascenders, and in the final he killed his opponent, which led him to have his license revoked by Association, and his Core sealed by them as well.
He was not sentenced to prison because it was a fight, it was a battle and things like that can happen, but his opponent's family looked for justice and they are influential and powerful, normally Iske would just get a penalty, but because of the influence of his opponent's family, he had his Mana Core sealed.
And of course things would turn out better for him if his own family tried to intervene, but they abandoned him, and Iske was disinherited, thus leading to my current situation.
Good thing that I know a way to recover my Mana Core without the need of using that demonic pill. If I was caught with demonic energy inside me things would be much different, I would be executed on the spot.
I will steal a quite valuable item from the Mc, but that can be resolved later, and I need it more. The flower of Zigaya, it's a rare flower used to create potions, and if used with the right method it can be used to break the seal on my mana core.
There's only a little hindrance between me and the flower, well not a little, a very big one, but let's not think about that, since it will only make me want to give up, I already made a plan.
And the first step is here, in a convenience store, entering I saw a quite empty market, only a few people here and there, and an old lady at the checkout.
I didn't waste time and looked through the market for everything that I needed, and I found almost everything, a ridiculous mask, a mirror, and a big backpack, which was almost everything, I'm only missing some gasoline, and a lighter.
Somehow Iske had a lot of cash in his wallet which was very useful right now, leaving the market I searched for the nearest gas station that I could find, and paid for some gasoline, which was easier than I thought, the attendant even gave me a lighter after I said that I wanted to smoke and didn't had one.
I kept both the gasoline and the lighter in the backpack and started walking towards the place where the Flower of Zigaya is, a dungeon, a magical place where monsters resides, although there are monsters there, the dungeons are not threat, not even near one, they are very controlled by the Association.
The Association controls Ascenders and the Dungeons, and naturally for me to enter one of their dungeons I would need to have their permission, which is something impossible for me, but fortunately, the Association doesn't control all dungeons
Dungeons can be commercialized, like everything in the world, they are called private dungeons, these dungeons depending in who buy it don't require the same level of requirements that an Association dungeon would require, but most still needs some requirement to enter it, there are my laws that these companies need to follow.
But the dungeon that I need to go to is nothing like that, because it's not controlled by people that work with the law. The dungeon I need to go to get the flower of Zidaya is controlled by the Black market.
Turning a corner I reached a dead end alley with three men waiting at the end of it, I approached them and they immediately got up.
I stopped in front of them without being intimidated as I looked at the sky and saw the midday sun between the clouds.
"It's lunch time," I said.
The three men looked between themselves, and then the tallest of them said, "Very well"
Saying that he touched the wall and whispered a few words that I couldn't hear, as he said that the wall transformed into a passage to another place.
"Welcome to the Black market"
