Chapter 79: Hidden Worm

In the same moment she said those words, I raised my palm and threw a ball of fire towards the monster, and that thing simply opened its mouth and ate my magic as if it was nothing.

That's ridiculous.

I glanced towards Sike and said, "Leave"

He didn't dare go against my order, and left the place. He already did his part here, he used the weapon to attract the beast, now it's up to me, Eliza and Aaron.

Talking about that guy, he should be already here.

"We'll need to hold that thing down until Aaron arrives" Eliza said to me.

And I sighed.

Then I grabbed all the daggers that I have kept in my battle suit, and launched them, each in a different position around the place. As I did that, the thing started coming towards us.

Without warning, I quickly switched to a dagger hanging from the ceiling and plunged down onto the worm. With my sword, I pierced the beast and simultaneously activated my fire affinity, causing minor burns to the monster.

But then this disgusting worm did something I was not expecting, it jumped, trying to crush me between the ceiling and its body. I noticed its intentions and switched myself once again, returning to my original position.

How can such a thing jump? That does not make sense.

"Holding that thing down won't work" I begun to say and paused, "We need to start right now"

I know that we needed to wait until Aaron arrived, but we couldn't wait. That thing is approaching and if we don't do anything, it will soon devour us.

She agreed with me, and said, "Let's begin"

Saying that we both went towards the monster, who just gladly accepted our actions, knowing that if he approached it would devour us. Without fear, me and Eliza jumped straight into the monster's mouth.

The thing tried closing a bit of its mouth to eat us, but it didn't work, it couldn't close its mouth, it was as if a strange force was preventing it from doing it.

"It's done," Eliza said.

I was about to celebrate, but I noticed the worm's movements, the thing started to spin its own sharp teeths, and all of sudden, it shot against us, it was too fast, and I knew that if we waited, we would get pierced by them, so I grabbed Eliza and switched away from there.

Back to our original position, Eliza said, "Thank you"

I didn't reply and glanced toward the monster. It was trying to close its mouth but couldn't. I wanted to know why; there was nothing preventing it.

Eliza explained the plan before, that we needed to make that thing have his mouth fully open, and she said she would do this part, but I thought she would create a pillar using ice magic and make some vows so that the pillar wouldn't break.

But that's not the case, what did she do?

But my thoughts were interrupted when we started hearing another sound, one that didn't come from the monster in front of us, but rather from behind.

Glancing back, I saw a flood rushing toward us, and amidst it, I spotted Aaron surfing the torrent.

I quickly took out the potion that Ian created beforehand and drank it, and Eliza did as well, and just a second after, we were hit by the water and we were carried away by the flood, and we went towards the Hidden Worm, who couldn't close its mouth.

The monster swallowed all that water together with the three of us.

I couldn't see much inside the thing, but I could see that my body was in movement because of the water, or it was because of the monster moving outside. Since I could not see it, I expanded my senses with mana, trying to search for Eliza and Aaron.

But I didn't find them, instead, I encountered small worms that attempted to attack me. I watched as these tiny creatures tried to approach me, only to fail because we were submerged in water.

Dealing with them was effortless; their attempts to attack me were futile in the water. I dispatched them with ease

After some seconds of being thrown from one side to another, I finally caught the presence of someone, it was Aaron.

I swim towards him, and waved my hand, then to my surprise he said, "We can talk here"

"What?" wow, we can talk.

"It's one of the effects of the potion" He explained to me.

I didn't know about that, "Have you found Eliza?"

He shakes his head, "I was hoping she was with us"

Well, that's really bad, because from now we don't have much of a plan. I bet that Eliza has one, perhaps more than one, but she fails to share it with us, so we'll need to improvise.

"She can handle herself, let's just do what we came here to do"

Aaron nodded, and then we started swimming through the beast looking for the most essential part of every monster, its core. We fortunately knew the direction to the core, because it was radiating energy and we could sense it.

On our way, we found many other small worms that tried attacking us. But we handle them. And after a few minutes of swimming, we found the Hidden Worm's core.

A sphere, with a greenish black that reminds me of the color of accumulated organic trash. It's disgusting, almost unbearable.

I turned to Aaron and asked, "Are you with the potion?"

He nodded and took out the potion out of his battle suit. Ian had prepared four potions, if we don't count the two healing potions he gave me. It was three potions for us to breathe underwater, and one purification potion.

It surprised me that he could even create purification potions, because they usually needed holy items or ingredients related to the Light affinity.

The purification potion is a potion that boosts one's ability to combat corrupted entities, making it highly effective against monsters. The stronger the monster, the more corrupted its mana will be, and consequently, the greater the impact of this potion on the monster.

Aaron gave me the potion, and that surprised me a bit, I thought he would want to do it.

I grabbed the bottle and opened it; it had a really good smell. I can't describe it, but it was like the purest thing I've ever smelled. Without wasting time, I drew my sword and poured the entire bottle onto the blade.

And without hesitation, I pierced the monster's core.
