Chapter 29: Merlin Rage
Back in the world of mages, currently, Merlin and the many other mages were looking at the short battle between Zeus and Kane. They had used time magic to see the past of what happened, and with this, they could see just what happened.
"Just how am I unable to sense you?" Kane said in annoyance while looking around, trying to find Zeus, who appeared.
"Thats because I controlled the electric field around me, preventing my aura from being sensed," Zeus said lazily while appearing before Kane. but something was off as what they were seeing was... off. Zeus was attacked by the clone, but a lightning barrier appeared, blocking the clone.
"It's a pain being unable to use my real magic. but if I use it, then those guys watching would know." Zeus said with a sigh, while Kane held his head. he screamed in pain when electricity covered his head. his head began to twist and turn before it exploded, and with a flash of lightning, his body was swallowed and erased.
"Well, this would give those old guys a good guessing game. who am I?" Zeus said while looking straight towards Merlin. Merlin frowned while looking at Zeus... how couldn't he when Zeus was really looking straight at him? it was like Zeus knew where he would stand, his height, and so on.
he closed his eyes, wanting to see if he had seen those eyes before. but after searching long and hard, he found nothing related to this man. but for someone to so easily kill someone like Kane was shocking.
"He should be... on the level of the demon lord. I shall go personally find him." Merlin said calmly, as the strongest human, he stood on the level of not just the demon lord, but even on the level of the king of angels.
His power was more than enough to destroy the earth, and that was not using something like the speed of light to boost his attack. He disappeared, appearing at the spot where Kane was killed. he tried to see the past and trace Zeus' path, but in the end, he couldn't do that which made him frown.
He looked around in the past for some time, before his eyes landed on a tree where I sat with Lana. He had time move backward, wanting to see what I did through everything, just to see I was helping Lana which caused his eyes to soften.
"You have a good heart kid..." He said softly before he kept having time to go backward, looking at my past. It went back years, but he had to stop seeing my upbringing... it was too disgusting.
Merlin was a man who saw the worst of this world, but that didn't mean getting used to such things. He closed his eyes, questioning what he should do. If he didn't need to worry about the nobles, he would have taken this boy in. He pitied and respected the man the kid was becoming... but he couldn't take this boy before everyone.
He understood how scared the world would be of this boy who learned magic, and he understood why the nobles wanted this boy to be a slave... but he didn't want this boy to suffer. So, he reached out. He would kill this boy, a quick and painless death. As for the backlash from this, it would be something he could handle.
"You can put your hand down." A cold voice entered Merlin's head, causing Merlin's pupils to shrink. Merlin turned back, looking at Zeus who was looking at him with an annoyed look. Merlin was shocked, how couldn't he be. he had learned all forms of magic as well as every form of combat, and so on. So, having someone sneak up on him without him sensing... it should be impossible.
"So, you attacked to protect the boy," Merlin asked to which Zeus nodded lightly.
"I can't be sensed. If he dies, I will slaughter a billion humans. I will make sure the human race is weakened. I will attack angels and demons, as well as the giants, and dragons. I will draw them into hating the human race." Zeus said making Merlin's face harden
"This is just a clone, do what you want with it. I don't want to fight you and risk destroying this world. But go ahead and fuck with me, touch my disciple, the human race shall suffer." Zeus said coldly,
"You're human, why would you do that to your own kind over one person," Merlin said through gritted teeth
"Because unlike you, I respect myself to become the bitch of others. Look at you. the strongest human, yet unwilling to even fart because those weaker than you will frown. You're the strongest of our race, yet the biggest pushover." Zeus said causing Merlin to grit his teeth in rage
"I do what I do for the bigger picture," Merlin said angrily,
"Then why were you going to kill him? was not enslaving him for the bigger picture? You only have the strength of the strongest... but not the mind. You disgust me." Zeus said in disdain, and those words made Merlin feel like a bullet shot him.
"Look at the demon Lord, the lord of angels, the dragon King, and the many other top tiers of their race. out of all of them, you stand to bring shame to us all. Your own race holds no respect before you, and you let them control you. Weakness disgusts me. And a weak man with the title of the strongest Disgust me even more." Zeus said, disdain and disgust filling his eyes.
"You have no idea how many sacrifices I made to ensure the humans have the standing they have today!" Merlin yelled, Humans were born weak. they were food for many races. but it was Merlin who created a path for the humans to stand tall.
"Only the weak make excuses for themselves. You bring shame to my bloodline. If you were my child, I would walk day and night, apologizing to every human for releasing you from my balls, before killing myself. Your father's worst sin was nutting. Your mother's worst sin was not swallowing you. As for those siblings who didn't make it to the egg first. Their sin is for allowing you to even see it." Zeus said causing Merlin who normally had control over his emotions to lose it. He was a man who never saw his parents, so how could he control it? he always wished for a family, so he turned towards looking at the human race as his family.
At speeds beyond light, Zeus was destroyed. but as he said, he was just a clone. Merlin stood there, his rage causing the weather to turn bad, but he quickly calmed himself down. He stood there for a good few hours, just lost in his thoughts, before he looked towards me.
"You spoiled the human race, your softness will lead to its destruction sooner or later." Zeus' voice entered Merlin's head, but he just stood there, doing nothing.
"..." He looked at his palm in the end, understanding that he had such a strong reaction because he felt like what Zeus said was partly true. He was the strongest, but he had been too soft to those nobles. It was mainly because he saw them as kids, he was alive for hundreds of years, so he always took a step back for those kids. but at some point, he let those kids start walking all over him. He no longer had the respect of the world's strongest, he even feared them teaming up to defeat him.
Zeus' words were harsh, but they were a wake-up call. Snapping him awake from the years when he had completely changed. He disappeared, returning to the world of mages.
At the same time, I was getting ready to head back home after having Sophia and Hope move into their new home. it wasn't a big home or anything, it was just a home in a better neighborhood. I had to also buy them a car.
"Will I see you again?" At the airport, Hope asked softly.
"Of course, I don't see why we can't see each other again. I will see if I can come over to visit at least once a month." I said while holding out a fist, which Hope happily fist-bumped.
"I plan to go on trips in the following few years. you and your mother can join. what do you think?" I asked causing Hope's eyes to brighten in joy. Sophia wanted to say no, but Hope already nodded while hugging me. I looked at Sophia with a smile, making her helplessly give up.
I was about to speak, but then my flight was called. With that, I said goodbye and hugged the two before I left. They watched me disappear into the crowd before she sighed took Hope and left...
The flight was more calm this time, I took first class. although I couldn't help but start making plans to build a private jet of my own, that could cost upwards of hundreds of millions.
"What is the plan? What if he dies?" within my mind, Zeus and Odin sat down with me entering. Zeus did his part by helping Merlin see just how much he had changed, Merlin should go back and try and get back the respect he should have as the world's strongest.
But would the nobles like seeing him trying to break free from the hold they had on him? A war among humans would break out, most likely Merlin would be titled as the demon king and forced to fight for his life.
"They will surely attack him, I believe Zeus should head over there and support Merlin in the battle that is bound to come," Odin said to which Zeus thought for a moment before nodding in agreement. I waved my hand, having the blueprints of a sensor appear on the table.
"This is a space sensor I have been working on. instead of traveling through the air and stuff, it would flow through the fabric of spacetime. meaning, it could cover the whole universe." I said calmly, with more understanding of the magic given to me, this was easy work for me.
"We will create this for now, after we send Zeus within. this way Zeus and I can be in contact. We will also build a base there." I said making Odin sigh softly at the fact I beat him to it. he was already working on something like this, but I was faster.
"After the senor is built, Zeus will summon the big families. It's time to destroy my family." I said coldly, my hatred clear in my eyes...
