Chapter 24: 24. DNA
(POV General)
"So this? Was your attacker?"
Batman faced the three teenage heroes with the tone of someone who couldn't believe his eyes.
To Batman, this animatronic Vulture seemed weak if hit by a well-placed Bat-a-rang. Batman made his judgment regarding the Vulture's abilities which soon fell through after truly recognizing the steel that was used to coat the Vulture lead.
Batman then changed his tone to a firmer one facing Josh and asking.
"Explain"
The first time the bird was shown Batman didn't hear anything besides a police report of a flying robot being beaten up by SuperBoy and company.
And only asked them without conversation if this piece of evidence was what attacked them.
SuperBoy took the lead saying the strength of the steel was very hard for him to break. Proving Batman's theory on lead-coated steel dampens Kryptonian strength.
Artemis then spoke about its maneuverability while Josh talked about for some reason his DNA was taken.
Batman was met with a mystery that he both intends to solve and use coating his Bat suits in Lead alloy to prevent some damage from any Kryptonian opponent.
Once the explanation was done Batman dismissed the three heroes only for the three to be barged with questions from the team.
Superboy took charge of explaining thanks to Josh's plea before returning to base while Artemis followed Josh to the kitchen surprised to find him actually cooking.
"You cook?"
Was her first reaction Josh just chuckled responding to her question with a smile.
"Yeah. Not in a while though."
Josh began grabbing whatever he could find from the pantry and fridge finding some Chicken, Butter, Spices, and some Penne pasta.
With but a few movements the ingredients were ready and Josh began to cook them. Artemis was impressed at Josh for many things but this one thing just seemed to be an added bonus.
Artemis then stared at the back of Josh as he cooked unbeknownst to them that the team smelled the cooking and arrived at the Kitchen.
"Josh? I didn't know you could cook?"
Josh turned around placing two plates down as he noticed the team and M'gann's question but before he could answer Artemis took the reins.
"Yeah I just asked him and he said. He doesn't do it a lot."
M'gann then had a face that screamed 'Oh' from Artemis's comment. Which was what she intended because Artemis then stared M'gann down like a Tigress.
M'gann was confused but she felt challenged for some reason.
The guys on the other ignored or it seemed to not even pass the radar as mainly the guys stared down the food.
""Woah""
"That looks delicious."
"*Grumble*"
Josh began to laugh getting everyone's attention because, unlike the time with Red Arrow, this was another rare time that Josh had ever laughed with someone.
"There is enough for everyone so please enjoy."
Superboy and Wally were the first to act grabbing a plate while Caldur, M'gann, and Robin soon followed.
Artemis already had her plate and finally took a bit whereupon the taste moaned in how good it was followed by everyone else who then grabbed a plate.
Josh merely ate his food without reaction and then looked at Artemis in front of him showing a smile that seemed heartfelt.
Soon enough everyone had their food and then everyone began talking about odd topics keeping the conversation going.

Back in Africa, The Brain was looking at a DNA strand on his computer thanks to the efforts of one of his drones.
"Interesting"
After hours of study, Brain found out that Josh's DNA was like most a double helix until it's exposed to some chemical or injection that transforms the Double Helix into something else.
"I need Zhis specimen."
After a quick collection of thoughts from the research Brain had developed. The Brain called out to Mallah.
"Prepare a DNA deconstruction then reconstruction with Project DOWNFALL by using subject Zero's DNA.
Mallah nodded its head following the order while The Brain continued to monitor the DNA strand continuing to break down then reshaping back together causing The Brain to continuously mumble one word.
"Interesting"

back at the base, everyone was called back to the brief room which was also the training room watching both SuperBoy and Caldur go at it.
Everyone at the time was in normal clothes watching the two shirtless guys ducking it out.
"Caldur is strong, commanding, handsome you should totally ask him out."
Artemis looked at M'gann for a reaction only for her to also play with her.
"Yeah but do you know who'd make a good couple you and Josh."
Artemis became silent surprising M'gann who smiled and smirked coyly and then asked.
"You've got to tell me everything?"
As the guys fought Wally was eating a burrito in the corner while Josh was the ref watching to see who'd win.
The winner was SuperBoy who after knocking Caldur down gave him a hand to stand saying.
"Canary taught me that one."
Caldur wanted to praise SuperBoy but was stopped as Red Tornado appeared from the ceiling using his Aerokinesis. Soon joining the team to report on their next mission.
Red Tornado took control of the briefing due to Batman studying the Vulture robot hoping to find anything on these new enemies.
while Robin was somewhere in Gotham following something Batman had asked him to do.
"This is Kent Nelson he is a hundred and sixty."
"Dude doesn't look a day over ninety."
A picture of an elderly man soon appeared in front of the team followed by a holographic projection of him. At the mention of his age, Wally made his comment and soon became silent as Tornado continued the debrief.
Kent Nelson had white hair, brown eyes, and wore a brown suit accompanied by his black cane. Which on its handle was a golden bar.
"Kent Nelson or most commonly known as Dr. Fate has gone missing within the last 72 hours and you all shall be sent in order to check on him."
Red Tornado then handed Josh a golden key after showing a picture of the tower of Fate and saying.
"This key will get you inside the tower and once inside find Kent."
The mission was simple to follow which before leaving Superboy couldn't help but grunt.
"We're babysitters now?"
Red Tornado simply looked at SuperBoy emitting an aura of 'you are what I say you are.'
SuperBoy obviously got angry and wanted to hit the snarky Android to only be stopped by both Josh and Calder.
During SuperBoy's fit, Wally couldn't stop whispering how fake magic was in both Josh and Artemis's ears until M'gann wanted to go which he then jumped aboard that ship.
Josh and Artemis just stood there and back at each other where they both oddly looked away upon eye contact.
