Chapter 5: And To Save
"You passed out yesterday.. During our fight... So I had to carry you back here."
"...What? I... Passed out? I... I mean I sort of remember that we saw two big giants coming at us... But anything beyond that is just... white... "
Bazett has an concerned face as she speaks to Star, which he responds back with;
"Yes we did, and that's kind of when it happened... To be honest I don't know what those 2 things were, but at that time they seemed to be problematic enough to concern you. So I decided to take action, you know... As your lowly 'servant'... I readied myself and done my attack."
As Star says his last sentence, the same blue electric guitar from last night materializes in his hands. Bazett's attention goes to the electric guitar Star holds as he continues speaking;
"And well... Then I looked at you after my attack was done... Which took down one of those 'scary', and 'horrifying' monsters in just one blow, ahem, just saying... I saw you coughing blood and... Um, well lets just say that you weren't in the best state. Funny. You couldn't even stand forget about walking... So we had to flee, and well after that is just like I said. I carried you all the way back here. Long story short, my attack dr-"
"Drained my mana pool... I see now. Or got used a huge chunk of it..."
"Exactly... Now listen... I know in your summoning call you said that you need a servant who is strong and powerful and stuff... But it seems like you, yourself as a master is not strong enough to handle a 'strong servant' from the start... Like me."
Star does an filthy giggle after he finishes his sentence, which only serves to irritate Bazett;
"Oho? Is that so? Then just don't use that attack. Use your other moves. You see, what I'm getting from this is you only can do that one single specific attack that you've done last night and nothing else? A such 'powerful' and 'mighty' servant like you only has just one attack that is any good? And the rest of what you can do with that guitar is not even worth mentioning? Is that it?"
Bazett moves closer to Star as she continues speaking;
"So all you can do is that one attack from last night? That's it? How ironic. If you had any other cards up your sleeve this wouldn't be a big deal would it? You might be 'strong', but a strength which we can't afford to use is equal to being useless. Got that?"
Star just sighs annoyed, and speaks;
"Jeez... Hooly... Relax... God... You are just no chill are you? You should be thanking me for saving your sorry princess buttcheeks, but instead you are saying this? Remember what you said about abandoning me to die?.. Hahah! Talk about 'Irony'. Maybe I should have done that to you..."
"What do you mean? That I should thank you for nearly killing me?! If you've just told me your real name, and your abilities as a servant instead of hiding them from the start maybe none of this probably would've happened anyways."
Bazett's eyes lock back onto the guitar that Star is still holding and points at it;
"That. That guitar you are holding. You've done that attack with this guitar right? I want to know everything, every single little detail about it. Is that guitar as a whole your Noble Phantasm? How do you use it? Be cooperative once and tell me."
"Oh... Ohohohoh... Nnnnno... Nope. A magician has secrets you know."
"If you use that thing again without knowing the effects it has on me since I am sort of your battery in this situation as your master. It might actually result in something much more serious than just me coughing up blood and fainting. And you know what would happen… If I die right? You. Will. Disappear. Do you want this to end that way? Just why are you so stubborn? Why did you even answer my call if you weren't going to put any effort to help us win this war?! Why are you even here?"
Star looks at Bazett and his guitar back and forth as he thinks about what she has said;
"Ugh... Listen now. I won't just tell you 'everything' about it same goes for myself too not only for the guitar. But... I can tell some stuff which you might find useful while having me as your servant... Plus can answer some of the question you have in mind for me."
A small smile creeps in Bazett's face;
"That's great. I am fine with that."
"BUT. There is only one thing I ask for in return."
Bazett narrows her eyes as she is curious about what he has got to say;
"What is it, you want?"
"I know this might sound like a joke and might sound a little too much for just me saying some simple words in return... But. I want you to not end your contract with me after this war ends. And make me be able to stay in this world for about 17 years more."
Bazett's tries to grasp what he just said; "Wha-" Star interrupts her and resumes his speech.
"I'll make us win this war or whatever is going on in this city... It will be depending on you to whether keep me as your companion, or to just end our contract. I just want 17 years and then it will be over... I know this is quick its only our second day as a master and a servant and we already despise each other, but... I just need you to guarantee that I will stay here as your servant after this war ends. And I will guarantee you victory, saving the city and its people, whatever..."
"17 years?.. That's... "
Bazett thinks over to herself about all the stuff that Star just have said. She's taken aback, not just by his unusual request for something as straightforward as sharing his abilities as a servant and simply behaving like one, but by how serious he was while saying those. She was thinking just what could he be trying to achieve, what his goal was. Why specifically 17 years? How can he be so sure that they will win? What will he get out of this? Where did this even come from... So she spoke;
"But why?.. I thought you didn't like me, just like you said we despise each other already. Why stay as my servant for more than 17 years and 'bear' being with me then?"
"I can't tell you the reason why."
Silence fills the entire room for a brief moment as Bazett still can't get over why he keeps everything a secret;
"You said that you wanted to stay with me for 17 years right? Don't I deserve the right to know why I have to be spending my time with you for that amount time?"
Star softly chuckles;
"I suppose you do. But I am telling you again. I can't tell you the reason... At least for now. You will just have to deal with it. And I will show you what I am capable of, will be more willing to cooperate also, promise."
He says the last part with his usual cocky and amused tone. Bazett is still pretty skeptical about all of this. It's not just her having to keep this guy around for 17 years. But also she doesn't trust him one bit. Up until this point Star didn't really seem to care about the Holy Grail war nor his responsibilities as Bazett's servant, but for the first time he was talking about making her win the war and everything else.
She wanted to learn more about this mysterious guy despite him being ridiculously narcissistic and annoying, he still was full of mystery under his cocky behavior and was Bazett's possibly only key to winning the war and finding out what is going on in Fuyuki. ...An Alter-Ego Servant with a name to hide... But what was she going to say to the Clock Tower about all this... What would they think? That's right she have completely forgotten about them. Besides how would it be even possible for him to exist in this world for that much amount of time? As she was thinking everything over, Star spoke once more, looking at Bazett;
"So... What do you say? Master?.."
