Chapter 4: An escape and a veil

As we shuttled through the many colors floating past us barely holding on to each other. I was brought back to the moment we grabbed each other. The resonance between each other. One a possible future and another an new past. I was brought into the marvel of magic, a glimps into the the man before me. The moment I touched the ground below I was shocked but still I had hope. Unlimited Blade Works, a grand achievement for a man who couldn't successfully cast most mage craft. A spell built on the foundation of reinforcement, gradation air, and structural analysis. With Alaya it was made capable. The tracing of history and recreation of weapons and techniques. The earth dusty, the sky a subtle blue, and the ever present cogs in the background. At the top of the hill he stood facing away from me. A part of me excited to see my favorite character in person. Especially because I could see it was after the events of the grail war. His hair was laying flat as did mine. He turned to look at me a question in his eyes. We were catching up on the others memories. I didn't look much, only at the beginnings to shore up my Emiya side a bit more to the Azarius side. Though the idea had been passed when we touched it was time to break the cogs.

"You really think you can do it?" He asked. No real fluctuations in his voice as if they were the same as air. But the look in his eyes betrayed his trepidation. The thought even a part of him could be freed. The throne took him when he died but when he is sent on missions a good portion of him is out. And we're taking this part with us. "We've got a shot, so why waste words?" The hat on my head wriggled as if to announce it's displeasure at his doubts. I finally got the chance now to truly introduce myself; the new me for this life. "My name is Azarius Emiya, this is my new weird hat and you are going to be my new older brother!" I said pointing at him. He looked stunned for a moment and facepalmed. Shaking his head he chuckled. Went better in my head now that I think about it? But "No Regrets!" I shouted. My lovable new hat deciding to join my new brother in his facepalm. I could see in the distance as Shiroe began to laugh; the distant cogs that were always slowly spinning grounded to a halt. He pulled his hand from his face, a smirk on his lips. "Fine then, I'll be your older brother. But!! We can sort that whole affair after this is done. So why don't you tell me about more of the how?" "So mostly it's the hat, don't know how it got to me or why I have it but when I wanted to save, us? Sure let's go with that. It gave me some basic info about where it came from and if what I know about that universe from what I've read is even remotely accurate then we definitely have a chance." It was said in one breath as if I was trying to convince even myself that such a wish could happen. To steal from what is essentially a fundamental force of this universe. The loopholes it would require. The power we needed. But I was reassured all the same when the hat made its presence known by shaking.

"The gist of it is a wish made with the authority over [DOOR] and [ERROR]. With the [ERROR] authority it will shift the owner of your specific contract, As in the you standing here, to me. But you could really do whatever you want since it's not like I have the power to really do anything to you. I'll just be a stand in for Alaya in this case. Then we hightail it out of here with the last wish. We don't really have any real destination so we can be broad in the wish and let the hat do most of the work." I stared expectantly at him. "Fine let's try it, better this than more eons working for that slave driver." A cracking sound rang out from the reality marble. We both turned to the horizon. A noticeable crack in the cogs quickly spreading. A moment later we were facing one another in the real world. Almost no time had past.

Traveling now we could see something ahead. A planet surrounded by colorful bubbles dotted around. Most were small not even being close to the size of an asteroid; but the few were much larger. Their appearance hazed so we could not see inside them. But gazes came from them as they watched us like a shooting star close in on the planet. And as we approached the atmosphere we could see a battle of titanic proportions. In the middle of a white marble city a giant demon faced off against a flaming dragon. As we feel ourselves slowing down outside the city I see the dragon grip the demon by the neck and begin releasing flames and light. The demon's voice rings out "Nooo!!!" And he erupts. As we begin nearing the ground far outside the city I can see the dragon begin to turn to stone it raises its head one last time and a resounding roar fills the air with its final breath. As we got closer to the ground or more accurately the giant lake by the city we slowed down some and that's when I finally looked down. And I did what most would do when falling from a decent hight with no true safety measure.

"AAAHHHHHHH!!!!" That's also when I noticed that the protection from the hat wore off. Luckily I have someone 3 times my size and is just built different and so I looked up to his face only to see extreme discomfort with what is about to happen. "Fuck" He grabbed me tucked and rolled his back to the water and a second later we're under water.

It took a few minutes to get to the shore. Mostly because my arm was still free from when we landed. Just also realized a very big detriment to my new situation. I'm now a kid and when things hurt there is barely any rational thoughts moving through my head. Also the limited control over my body and so I had to be rescued. As we recover on the shore, myself cradling my sprained or fractured left arm. We finally had a moment to rationalize where we were. "So…" he starts just to figure what to say probably thinking what to say in this situation. "Any ideas where we are with all that weird knowledge in your head?" Taking deep breaths not only because the cold wet clothes im now wearing. "Y-y- yup." "That's good at least we can plan some things ahead, any ideas as to what we just witnessed at that city?" And so I reply very simply truthfully just wanting to wallow in my pain and maybe sit in a bed with some nice soft pillows. "Yup." "Any thoughts as to our situation then?" My breathing slightly under control now with the whole not moving. Not to mention the air is still unsurprisingly warm so I guess that's a good thing. "Well the big demon guy was most likely a dedric prince basically a primordial god of this world with a hate boner for "mortals" who attempted a breakout from his plane of existence. The big fuck off dragon was an avatar of the primordial god of time in this world. If I remember right it should have been more like a summoning while using a person with blood relations to him to allow him to take physical form." Fun times, I think I know what he's doing having me keep talking.

"Okay that's a little concerning that gods can just walk the planet, anything else I should know in the meantime?" It took me a second to process his worries then it hit me. "Actually, we don't have to worry about that too much." I can see it forming now looking up. A thin almost completely transparent layer in the air. While it's forming you can see the bare edges of it as it crosses the sky. "If what I'm watching is right with my knowledge then the big dragon just put a veil over the entire planet cutting off most connections to oblivion. Which is kinda in our favor right now." He quipped back at me almost immediately though. "You said almost there. Anything I should be aware about?" I want to retort about how it shouldn't be that big an issue but then I think about a particular Dedric prince's personality. "Well, the dedric prince of madness is most likely going to open a door to his realm but if I remember right he is one to not really care to mess with mortal stuff. He needs a champion and the person who helped the emperor is the best fit for that job. He has that fate after all." "Huh, I'll unpack all that later. Let's at least get you settled some now that you have calmed down. There isn't much I can do but splint your arm with your scarf for now." He crouched next to me helping me sit up and removing the wet scarf from my neck. He also made me remember about the magic in this world. While no doubt the game made it look easy to learn it after all but I'm sure with some time maybe we could learn it. Food for thoughts another day. I felt him tying my arm with the makeshift splint and it stung for a second as he did so. "Well let's see if we can't get into the city now that the whole demon prince guy you were talking about is gone. Might even find some places to sleep in the after panic." A bed does seem real nice right now.
