Chapter 3: 3: Hallway

Pov: Paul

"Huh?" I mutter. Unless the dude in front of me was Kyle Jenson, my neighbor who was known around the neighborhood to be a little loose in the head and was currently playing a prank of epic proportions on me, then no, I didn't have any recollection of the dude in front of me.

"What do you mean "huh"? You don't remember me, Sam?" The dude questioned, not removing the gun from my forehead.

Staying as calm as I could (read, panicking like hell), I found my voice. "Look here, sir. . . I really don't know you - not on your account, of course - I don't even know where I am to be frank."

He stills for a moment. I think my panicking and uncertain tone in my voice provided him some answers that I couldn't find even within myself because he slowly sighs, tiling his head upwards to the ceiling, like he was asking god "why him?".

Then, to my relief, he drops the glock to his side and looks back at me. "Well, this sucks. Really hoped this wasn't the case."

Confused, I watch as he pulls out a unique looking flip phone from seemingly nowhere and dials in a number. A single ring goes off, and then the call goes through.

"Kenith? Why are you calling so soon? Did you find him?" A feminine voice barely audible to me addresses the dude in front of me.

"Orson, you f*cker." Kenith, I'm assuming, only said back. "Gha ha ha! Got you this time, Kenith!" A other voice, this being male and older sounding, came from out from the phone.

Kenith steps away from me, giving me a pointed look with both his eyes and his gun, meaning 'stay there'.

Not wanting to meet my maker, I wisely stayed in place. From a bit farther from me, I saw Kenith having a pretty animated conversation, or more like bantering, with the two voices I had previously heard before he went off to get some privacy.

I heard the word "Foundation" come out of his mouth a couple of times as the time passed, each time always with such an angry tone to the word. I wonder what that was about.

As he had stepped to the side, I now had a clear view of what layed beyond the pair of doors. From where I was, I could see a long, dimly lit hallway that led to a wide open area, with said area being pitch black.

Taking a glance back at Kenith, I see he's still occupied. Then, as I look at the hallway again, my heart neatly lept out of my body. A figure just appeared from out of the dark space at the end of the hallway.

Due to the poor lighting, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. But then I saw its silhouette slowly grow in size, meaning it was getting closer.

So, not wanting to deal with it myself, I got Kenith's attention with a couple of snaps of my fingers.

Kenith noticed me trying to get his attention and then ended the call, which if I was the recipient of that abrupt finish to the call I wouldn't have done it like that, but to each their own.

"Yeah, what's up?" He asks. I just point down the hallway. He looks and frowns.

"What? I'm pretty sure I killed all the guards already?" He mutters. I look at him in shock. 'Guards? Killed?'

Looking back at me, he sees my shock and scoffs. "Ok, I know you're not Sam, but you can't honestly be that stupid given the earlier alarms going off and this prison like cell we're in?" He gestures around him as he explains.

"As I said before, I have no idea what is going on. So, pardon my ass for being a bit slow, would ya?" I snap.

He laughs at me. "There's the snarkiness I remember." I frown at him for his lackluster reaction to my annoyance for being called dumb when I didn't want to be here in the first place, but I couldn't help but also feel nostalgic at his laugh too.

Back in the hallway, the figure had made it halfway to use, allowing Kenith and me to get a more proper look at him.

And I say him because the dude was basically naked, wearing a ripped toga of some sort. We both frowned at him as he walked to us, though I think Kenith's reaction to him was way more severe than mine, which in turn made me start feeling more as well. That feeling? Panic mostly.

The dude was tall, somewhere around my height of 6 feet 4 inches. He looked African?(Sorry, I really don't know how to describe what kind of ethnicity he resembled, I don't know much in that regard.)

He was buff, that was for sure. I didn't think 8 packs were a thing, but he had them. Also, the way he had his arms out to his side as he walked towards us was like someone out of Jojo. I could basically imagine the ゴゴゴ behind him as he did. (Yeah, I know some anime, sue me).

Anyway, the most glaring details about him were those crazy tattoos all over him. Like he went to a tattoo shop and when asked what he wanted he just said, "Give me everything dark and evil".

They were all dim reds in color, with his forearms, legs, and large parts of his stomach that I could see that weren't covered by his toga getting in the way, were all covered with them. The tattoos themselves looked like cultists' imagery; horned heads, devil circles, the works.

And that mad grin he had on his face. God. . . those grey eyes spoke of blood and slaughter and nothing else.

"Ah crap, not him. If he's here, then the Foundation is onto us." Again, Kenith mutters.

Again, me hearing this and interpreting it as bad news softly hisses at him. "Guessing he ain't one of your? Also, what's this Foundation you keep muttering about?"

"Look, we can talk about it later. If we survive." "If? Just who is this guy that you, with a gun, is scared of?"

Kenith, for his part, was keeping a good straight face at me as he pushed in a button on his cell, that then immediately disappeared without warning, then stepped in front of me.

"I'm a tell you straight up. The guy in front of us is Able, and he's here to kill us both."
