Chapter 26: Entitled Escape

Half an hour ago, Georgina was walking quietly down the empty corridor, desperately searching for a way out as soon as possible. Even as slowly as she walked, one could easily hear the clicking sound of her heels reverberating off the walls. She was mumbling words at each step she took, still pissed by the fact Logan didn't plead with her to stay.

What did he take her for? She was going to show him that she could survive on her own, she thought to herself.

As she walked, she heard something—a faint clatter, followed by the sound of liquid splashing and spreading across the floor.

Her heart skipped a beat, and she froze, her eyes scanning the empty space.

"Hello," she said, her hand instinctively clutching the crowbar tight to her chest. "Is... anyone there?" she called out again, her voice barely above a whisper. But there was no response. Instead, a small, furry creature scurried out from the shadows, its beady eyes fixed on Georgina. She let out a blood-curdling scream, her hands flying to her mouth in horror.

"Oh my God, a rat! Get it away! Get it away!" she shrieked, her voice echoing. She took a step back, her eyes fixed on the mouse as if it were a venomous snake. "This is disgusting! This is absolutely vile! How could they let this happen?"

Her reaction was similar to when she discovered a spider in the mall bathroom. She had demanded to be taken to a luxury hotel immediately, refusing to stay in the 'filthy' mall any longer. And now, faced with a tiny mouse, she was reacting with similar drama and disgust.

"I demand someone come and remove this... this... creature at once! I will not stand for this! I will not be subjected to such filth!" she said, but then it soon dawned on her that she was all alone and there was no one to come and rescue her from the horrors of the mall.

"I can't believe this!" she exclaimed, stamping her feet. "First, they abandoned me, and now I'm stuck here with... with... rodents!"

Her eyes welled up with tears, but she sniffled them back in, refusing to let them fall.

She was Georgina, after all, and Georgina never shed a tear. She was going to make sure they all paid for doubting her.

Luckily, the mouse scurried away, although Georgina's fear and disgust still lingered. She took a deep breath to calm herself.

Her eyes scanned the area, searching for an escape from the 'horrors' that surrounded her. She spotted a nearby stairwell and made a beeline for it, her heels clicking rapidly as she tried to put as much distance between herself and the mouse as possible.

As she reached the stairs, she spotted a barricaded door. At last! She was finally able to escape this dreadful place.

She pushed away all the junk and scrap that blocked the door. It took a while, but she finally managed to open it, revealing a dimly lit parking garage. The air was musty and filled with the smell of exhaust fumes, but Georgina didn't care. She was finally free from the horrors of the mall.

The moon was out, full and bright, and luckily for her, there was no sign of zombies in sight as she had feared.

She let out a sigh of relief, which broke into a mocking laugh. Before she could make her way down the parking garage, a thought crossed her mind.

Zombies were attracted to sound, she thought. Since she was sure there were many around, she had a plan in mind to get her revenge on the others.

First, she would lure the zombies into the mall, using the music as bait. She would make sure to blast it loud enough to attract as many zombies as possible, trapping them inside the mall where they would be unable to escape. And then, she would make her escape, leaving the others to fend for themselves against the hordes of undead.

With a satisfied smile, she pushed the door open wider, pulled out her phone, and after picking the right song, placed it by the door. She set a timer for the music to turn on and off, which would give her enough time to find a safe spot.

She rushed to hide behind a nearby car, her heart pounding in her chest. She waited, holding her breath, as the music started to play.

At first, there was nothing, just the echoing sound of the music. But then she heard it—the shuffling footsteps, the groaning, the moaning getting closer and closer.

She peeked around the car. A horde of zombies was shambling toward the door. Her smile grew wider as she watched them cluster around the phone.

"Perfect," she whispered to herself. "Now let's see how they like being trapped and helpless."

With a mocking laugh, she took off her heels and tiptoed away from the car. She didn't look back, didn't hesitate, just kept walking until she was sure she was safe.

After a few minutes, the music finally stopped, and the zombies, confused and disoriented, started walking into the building as she had predicted.

On the other side of the building, Logan and half of the group were in search of a safe place when they heard the voice from the radio, crackling and distorted, but urgent and panicked. "We're under attack... everywhere... coming from all directions... zombies!" The voice was shaky and unclear, but the fear and desperation came through loud and clear. This was followed by a loud static sound, and the radio went silent.

The group's hearts raced, knowing what that meant. The two children cuddled around their mother in fear. She patted their backs, silently begging them not to make a sound as they sobbed silently.

Logan's jaw clenched as the sound of approaching footsteps grew louder and his grip around his gun tightened.

There was no way they could run. They were surrounded.
