Chapter 2: Learning
Nolan would just continue to get stronger just by existing meaning that the status quo between them would remain unchanged.
[Immortal is the monster dead] A voice asked through the earpiece in his ear, Cecil
"Yeah Cecil, you guys can come clean it all up" Henry said as he looked at the injured guardians
[Okay then, Men move out} Cecil commanded
"Oh yes Cecil, I think I need a vacation. My age is finally catching up to me" Henry said
[We both know that's impossible but if it's a vacation you need then you are free to take one until you are needed] Cecil said
"Well then goodbye for now, oh and I think the others need immediate medical attention"
[I can see that old man, now get going] Cecil said then Henry cut off the connection.
At the same time, he got busy, administering first aid to the unconscious guardians after all, all of them had a certain level of regenerative abilities so they wouldn't die from their injuries.
After doing that, Henry dropped his beeper by their side along with his ear piece; it was the only other tracker Cecil had left on him as the other means all failed.
The laced water didn't work as his body considered the nanobots as toxins so he excreted them even the ones introduced by injection were lost after all, he loses a lot of blood on a daily basis and this isn't even considering the fact that his powers basically make sure that he is a new man each day he wakes up.
After dropping his beeper and earpiece, Henry immediately took off following his memories back to his house.
The Immortal was truly a man who loved his peace as he built his house or should i say mansion on the outskirts of the city where it was surrounded by a large plain.
In fact, one could say that the Immortal's house was in the middle of nowhere which was smart considering it reduced the rate at which he moved after all people tend to ask lot of questions when they notice you don't age.
In the past, you may be praised as a god for your immortality but in this age, things just become ridiculous.
Entering the house, Henry immediately started looking around the whole house just to really make sure that everything was just as it was in his memories.
After ensuring that everything was in place, Henry immediately walked to the basement of the building where a fake wall was hiding a safe.
"The immortal is truly old," Henry thought as he inputted the combination for the safe.
When the safe was finally opened, all Henry saw was a few artefacts and a list, this was a list of all of his possessions along with all the relevant papers to them.
Henry had to admit that though the Immortal was a little too idiotic for his liking, the man was rich. Just a few of the properties on the list was enough to make him into the richest in America.
Seeing the list and the worth of most of these properties, Henry wasn't that surprised after all the Immortal was once the president of America, he was Abraham Lincoln.
After thinking about it for a bit, Henry immediately closed the safe and went back up to the house as he started searching for his phone and where he had left it.
Some minutes passed and Henry finally found the phone but unlike what most would have expected, he immediately went on to check his bank account balance, looking at the multiple zeros in his account, Henry became speechless.
The man was already wealthy enough in terms of properties but looking at the man's bank account, Henry just couldn't say anything.
Going through his memories to figure out how the Immortal had made so much money. Henry found only two current methods of income, one of them was rent and the other was through Heroics. Cecil does pay well.
Looking at the money in his account, Henry couldn't help but smile as this meant that he could truly achieve his goal.
All he had to do was wait for a certain someone to bleed which wouldn't be hard after all there are multiple monsters that can make a viltrumite bleed and Nolan would encounter them soon enough
"Now all I have to do is learn and gather some equipment," Henry thought to himself then he immediately flew out of his house and went back into the city.
For the next few Months, Henry took advantage of his powers to learn as much as he could. Henry discovered a few different things about himself and his new powers recently but one thing was for sure though and it was that the immortal under-utilized his powers.
This guy's body was just built differently. Like the viltrumites, his cells don't give a shit and unlike the viltrumites, he is truly immortal. He doesn't need to eat, sleep, drink or take or perform any other usual activity to survive meaning he is self-sustained and finally and most importantly, his body adapts quickly.
At first, Henry just thought that the Immortal was just a muscle head but after actually being in the body. Henry had to say that while the body was smart, the immortal was unwilling.
Henry didn't know the true cause of his immortality but it apparently improved everything about him, it increased his strength, speed, reaction time etc but it also improved his adaptability so when Henry started taking advantage of his super speed to read and learn any material he could find, his body seemed to have slowly also started to adapt to better store the information he read.
Henry only noticed this recently as initially when he began his knowledge-gathering mission.
He had to read even an ordinary book at least twice to be able to fully understand some of its contents but after a few days, he was able to read and understand the contents of several advanced books with ease.
