Amelia on the other hand just shot me a small glance before she went back to fiddling with her new device.
Selene on the other hand seemed somewhat different.

Would it be the money that he would be pocketing or was it the benefits he'd receive.
Amelia delved deeper into her thoughts as she thought of why the government would do such a thing yet there wasn't anything that came to mind .
Suddenly Sophie chimmed in.

For the government to go so far as to encourage the civilians to condone sinful deeds.
However based on what I saw I think there's only one conclusion"
Selene who was on Carter's lap took the opportunity to spare some useful information.

Everyone suddenly shiftee their gaze to Selene except Carter.
Carter had already came to a conclusion if his own however he wanted to hear the girls thoughts on the matter.
"The government was actually a regular at the slave house. sometimes he'd visit for at least 3 times in a week "
However Selene didn't stop there.
Her tone suddenly became heavy this made Carter raise a brow in confusion.
Still he wasn't in any rush for answers,he knew that Selene would eventually bring herself to talk about it.
"Sometimes... Whenever the government came to visit.. he'd always take set on a close friend of mine which I met in the slave house.
I remember when The bastard got so frustrated that he could touch slave that were on sale.
So after bargaining with the slave traders and brought my friend along with him.
Truthfully speaking I was rather happy for that friend of mine,I hoped that every single day that the man she met was the one"
Invested Amelia questioned"So what happened next"
Hearing this Selene held her face up to cover the tears that streamed down her face .
Sophie on the other hand sighed.
She knew this story quite well hence this left her the the decision of finishing what her mother couldn't.
"A month later The friend my mother mentioned returned to the slave house covered in bruises .
Upon closer inspection we even discovered a piece of glass shard that got stuck inside her head.
My mother and I worked desperately to take it out .
However not all things remained unchanged.
The friend came back mentally broken, she'd cry but not once had she ever responded to my mother and I after that"
Sophie gritted her teeth while she clenched both her hands into a fist.
Sophie was hurt not physically but mentally, Selene wasn't any better this took a large blow on their mental state.
It wasn't hard to sun up the reason why the two were sold.
The men wanted people that were reactive,not the one's that's were broken.
They'd rather break one than have one that's already broken.
It was a typical cycle that repeated itself throughout the year's.
Shaking away his thoughts Carter stood up with Selene still in his arms .
He left Amelia and Sophie to catch up while he brought Selene outside.
Surprisingly carrying Selene was rather easy however Carter knew that it wasn't the time to think of his strength.
He brought Selene down to the seaside and sat down with her still in his laps.
Bringing his hands around her waist he hugged her silently.
Selene cried for a solid hour and all Carter did throughout this time was stare out at the sea as he pondered on how such a wonderful thing came to be toxicated.
Selene lifted her head slightly,her eyes lingered on Carter's face with a deep shade of red .
Time seemed to have stopped yet the sea showed no signs of such things.
Slowly Selene brought her face closer to Carter's.
She cupped his face while staring at him with expectations.
Carter stared at Selene as well .
His heary skipped a beat while his eyes glowed gold for a split second.
Carter hugged Selene tighter as they brought their faces closer .
Inch by inch cm by cm after what seemed like forever.
Their lips finally touched
The scent of peaches that lingered on selene's body made Carter aroused.
Selene wasn't far off Carter has an intoxicating scent, it was so good that Selene could confirm that she'd get hooked on it after this one moment.
After having a minute of communication Carter gave Selene and himself some space.
