"..."

Dazed, I realized that I was quite the pacifist despite my past assumptions. I honestly thought, that with the system, I would go on a rampage every day.

Now, ever since coming to this world, I had yet to kill a single significant being. Although the storm I created might've been strong enough to kill a few ants, it wasn't enough for the Gaia System to record it.

I did not expect that. Perhaps such was the advantage of being aware of pretty much everything around me. There was rarely any danger, and the <Power of Death> allowed me to vanish from people's senses.

Honestly, with a little lethality, I might be unstoppable.

...Nope.

Closing my eyes, I could still feel the auras of distant gods and some extremely powerful beings. With the mana I now had at my disposal, more of the world had revealed itself to me. Thus, although I was strong enough to deceive those powerful entities, I severely doubted if I was strong enough to win against them.

In fact, if not for those space pebbles, escaping from Daimyuon would've been impossible.

I would've become some <Archmagus>'s student, forced to slave away at my studies. Although other people might find this to be an honor... Roaming free was my destiny, therefore, being chained down would only suppress my growth.

Furthermore, I could slowly study Daimyuon's knowledge throughout my journey to Walvaskaz. I would, in no way, be inferior to one of his students. In fact...

[Absolute Awareness].

There were a few Traits that I could grab along the way. Most of them were magic-related. By the time I stepped foot on Walvaskaz soil, I would be a bonafide mage with a little extra flair.

Hopefully...

Clad in black, carapace-like armor and standing at an immense 8 feet tall, Klaionus was baffled by the reports of his subordinates. Sitting on a throne of molten rock, continuously churning and responding to each of his breaths, his demeanor was equal to that of a king.

However, he knew for sure that he was no king.

He was but an ant before the Demon Lord.

And if that very Demon Lord heard of his subordinate's report, Klaionus would not doubt that she would react the same way.

"Have the humans set a trap?" Klaionus asked.

"Milord... We cannot confirm this. However, the Hero of Leisha has yet to appear. The prophesized hour that the humans desperately believed in has long passed. Furthermore, Leisha's troops have all retreated inland."

Hus, a demon who looked very much like a human save for the small bone horns on his head, bowed as deep as the earth could allow.

Klaionus frowned.

The other Demon Generals were a lot less contemplative, beginning their invasion of human territory. However, Klaionus felt something terribly wrong.

"Tell our troops to continue guarding the border. Something feels off to me."

"Sir?" Hus glanced up, witnessing Klaionus rise from his throne.

"The other Demon Generals would soon find out whether or not this is a crafty human ploy. We will respond the moment the truth is revealed. However..."

Klaionus summoned a few robed demons who knelt by his throne. They offered up a crystal ball and a few human hearts.

Using a grotesque yet efficient ritual, Klaionus began to scout the human kingdom, observing its aura of mana, not its people nor its landscape.

"The Hero is nowhere in sight. The church of Minerva... is in ruins? And the humans are still being lowly ants."

It was then.

—Bzzt!

The twitch of an eyeball.

Klaionus looked away, his eyes erupting with blood. However, it was as if he felt no pain. He placed the shattered crystal ball back into the box the robed demons held. His eyes were rapidly regenerating.

"Little Daimyuon seems... agitated."

It didn't seem like a ploy.

Instead...

"A third party?"

Klaionus frowned.

Only the Demon Lord and a select few gods could interfere with events as predetermined as fate. Even then, they were forced to watch, incapable of completely deciding the flow of fate. Despite the threads of destiny being only visible to the few who were gifted, barely anyone could change the course of the river.

Klainous could only ponder.

With a gesture, this time Klaionus summoned a pen and paper. Feeling a headache coming along, he summoned his vast reserves of mana and imbued it into the seemingly mundane fountain pen.

"...Time to run the calculations by hand."

Vron, who had been slaying demons left and right for years on end, finally returned home to the kingdom's capital. He was to report his experiences and await a new mission.

"Master Vron du Qualsifae, <Sword Saint> and <Apostle of Minerva>, has arrived!"

A voice announced his arrival, and the giant golden doors of the throne room opened with a metallic groan.

Walking over the soft carpet, Vron looked at all the familiar faces. Normally involved in political strife, everyone wore grim expressions. Even the secretive <Archmagus> Daimyuon was present, with a sour taste apparent on his tongue.

"Your Highness! I have returned from the battlefield with my life still within my grasp!" Vron fell to his knees and bowed.

The King of Leisha smiled.

"It's good to see you alive and well, old friend." Although his words were friendly, the tone of authority never ceased to emanate from his voice. "How was the border?"

Melia, sitting inside a classroom with five of her hero candidate classmates, absentmindedly glanced at the sky. In the distance, there was a storm brewing. For some reason, the storm reminded her of Aventine.

'I wonder what Brother Aventine and Sister Archisse are doing?'

However, her thoughts last only a brief moment.

"Ow—!"

A piece of chalk hit her square between the eyes.

"Hero Candidate Melia, please stay focused on the subject at hand." A gentle yet strict voice resounded in her ears.
