Chapter 3: A QUIET PLACE

In what felt like a second, a gun was resting it's nuzzle on my skull.

There is a saying, 'When one dies the last sense to go is the sense of hearing.' but with this situation, I guess I'll have to be among those who'll prove it wrong.

He clearly wants to blow my brains out!! The churn feeling in my stomach rose, as I imagined dying that way.

I felt the gun...shaking? His hands were trembling, and then I heard him pull the trigger.

Just like that… I guess it was reflex but I shut my eyes really tight, and bid my time for the pain to fit.

I was going to die. A fitting end? Maybe.

CLICK!

Hmm?What happened? I opened my eyes to the same familiar room I was in.

Nothing happened?

"The gun is empty." the familiar voice spoke as he came into sight, he was laughing again. Maybe he was mentally ill? Who knew?

I glared at him frustrated and slightly annoyed. "If you want to kill me you had three chances, asshole! Just do it already!"

"Oh my, why the long face? What happened to the girl begging for grace? I was trying to make things a little more interesting…"

The man in green who I had dubbed Leprecorn hummed along to my despair. It seems he saw all of this as a game and nothing more.

"It was right?" he directed the question at Renn,

"Yes sir." He said with a slight nod.

"Be grateful." The tension and shaking in his hands had all but disappeared as he let go of my hair, causing me to fall again. All I could say is that, his words bit me as a realised but one thing.

They never took me seriously.

I was still alive, I'd never been more relieved in my entire life, but grateful? Definitely not!!

Boss as Renn called him, handed a bag over to him "Your next one's in twenty. Carry the girl along, she'll play the number two." he smiled at 'number two' who I suppose was me, and left the room.

What was going on? I couldn't tell ya.

Renn dropped the bag In front of me, what was in it, torture tools? I wouldn't be surprised

"Boss can still kill you whenever he wants to. Keep that in mind."

Yeah yeah, let the Leprecorn do whatever he wants.

"Ill tell you now, you're just the bait.

"It's your biological parents they're really looking for so watch your behaviour, if you just go with whatever the boss says he might end up keeping you. The boss told you himself he's really not a bad guy."

"What are you saying? My parents are dead." They were long gone. Were these people really sick enough to play with her feelings like this?

"Whoever told you that lied to you, but it's better you don't know anything…for now. Makes it easier for both of us." Renn looked me dead in the eye but fortunately or unfortunately he didn't seem very intent on explaining.

'There's no way they are alive… If they were I wouldn't suffer like this.' I refused to believe him. This was just one of those scare tactics they used in those movies… right? I didn't know.

I looked towards Renn, honestly he wasn't as intimidating as I thought but the previous situation couldn't have been helped.

I looked towards the gun in his hand. Had he shot someone before? I couldn't resist asking even though I knew I shouldn't.

"Have you ever used a gun before?"

The question struck like a chord, running out my mouth before I could get a chance to stop myself.

Renn looked at me, there was nothing visible in his expression but I could almost swear I saw hints of annoyance when he spoke.

"You have ten minutes to get changed. Freshen up." With that he walked out the room.

But there was just one little problem… How was I supposed to move after all that? Talk less freshen up?

The bag was left behind in the room, so I could only begrudgingly move towards it.

Inside were some antiseptics and cotton balls, a brush, jewellery? Hmmm.

A dress? Uuuu snacks!!! Underwear. There was a bunch of stuff, but I essentially dismissed everything else for the snacks.

I don't know why but it seemed lemon crackers were hella popular here but I was too hungry to start with my nonsense.

Finishing up the last cracker, I saw Renn walk in. He looked...different.

His hair was tied back so it showed his full face, he didn't do much but the change was obvious and the three piece suit he had on made things even more evident. He looked no different from a young noble.

Suddenly swallowing that last cracker proved kinda difficult.

There was one thing I forgot about though as I gawked at one of my kidnappers. One, I was kidnapped. Two I still hadn't changed.

He walked up to me and didn't even hesitate pulling my jacket and pants off.

I tried to explain that I didn't have the ability to do it myself, we both knew that. So why didn't he just do this in the first place?

The dress and jewellery were way too nice, I wonder where they were taking me to? Brothel?

Definitely Brothel. Never thought I'd become a sex worker. Sigh…

Taking out the cotton ball and anticeptic he wiped the blood on my face folding in the cotton at the middle… Just like Dad would... I hope he's alright.

I couldn't help but worry.

My line of thought froze on a certain possibility. Were my parents really alive? If so… why did dad lie?
