Chapter 8: Chapter 8: End of summer as a deadline
I enjoy driving my car, it gives me a feeling of liberty I know I got the chance to pilot planes in my last life but it is just not the same feeling. The ride to the mansion was a pleasant one Lena and I talked about my future and I talked about her love life which she was visibly shy to talk about I didn't push I didn't want her to close herself to a suggestion I would need time to make my plans work but I still need to take it slowly I got all summer to do so I will need Mammy help for sure.
When we got to the estate my Uncle was waiting by the entrance door I wondered what he wanted with me well I would know soon enough I pulled into the driveway toward my garage opened the door and parked my car into his designated place, Lena got out of the garage and started talking with my Uncle as for me I took everything out to wash my car the fact that a dumbass sat on my hood as nothing to do with this, ok it got everything to do with this. I can't believe it happened to me, I know there are all sorts of people in this world but this kind of really pisses me off showing off something that doesn't belong to you to friends that for sure don't care about who you are you but about what you got now that I think about it this is sad. I took a bucket out of the closet and filled it with water and car soap put some gloves on and opened a new bundle of towels made especially for car use after making all preparations I started scrubbing my car all over I put a special focus on the hood of course you know in case he farts on it I don't want to take a chance hahaha!
Anthony Smith P.O.V
I could see little Ace washing his car and he seemed to be really engrossed a little bit too much even, something must have happened, I could see Lena walking slowly toward me, she really is a kind and beautiful woman oh so beautiful cough cough stop it, Anthony, I thought to myself.
-Welcome back home Helena! Has everything gone well?
-Yes Anthony, well there was a little incident but nothing major I got to see a side of little Ace that I knew nothing about it was a little scary but also refreshing seeing that our little genius is not perfect (giggles)
-Hmm tell me more.
-Well after Ace finished his exam we were making our way into the parking lot when Ace saw a young man sitting on the hood of his car clearly he was showing off Ace's car to his friend probably saying it was his but our little Ace got really angry seeing this before I could hold him he had storm right to his car he grabbed the other collar and swung him at least 3 meters away when he was looking at this young men I could almost see his aura growing colder by the second I was sure he was about to punch him but he told me to get in the car and we left, after this we ate ice cream went shopping a little got a nice dinner and then came back here.
-Indeed a rare occurrence now I know what triggers him next year April Fool's will be fun hehe and what about his exams did he do well you think?
-he took only 2 hours and a half for both exams and when he got out he was all smiles and you know how intelligent he is I am sure he did well you don't have to worry Anthony
-Sigh, I'm not worried about this actually, but more about what he is thinking of doing next I know he wants to go abroad and I can't help but think about his parents what if something happens to him while we are not there?
-You can't keep him here for life Anthony, also poor little Ace has no social life his only friends are people from here and none of his age he needs to get out of here, so stop being a worrywart and be there for him like you always did humph!
Anthony looked at Helena passing by him and thought ''damn this girl knows how to set me straight'' before going back inside toward his office.
Ace P.O.V
Still in the garage finishing washing my car, I was thinking about what I'll be doing this summer of course finishing my Plymouth was still in order the second most important thing on the list in fact I also had to match Uncle and Lena it was about time I get a niece or nephew. After picking up my washing gear and putting them away I got out of the garage in search of Mammy I needed to talk to her about my plan I hoped she got a good idea because I was not sure about my chance if I was to do this alone, I walked through the mansion but she was not inside so I started looking outside still not finding her it hit me '' could she be there'' I thought to myself without wasting time I strode toward the family cemetery that was 3 or 4 kilometers away from the main house usually Mammy wouldn't go there but with my birthday coming it also means that the day of my parent's death was also close by and I know that Mammy loved my mother like she was her child she must be feeling emotional right now.
So I made my way toward the family burial ground even if people don't go there often the path leading to it and the place itself was well taken care of by Hector and his sons who will succeed him soon enough with how old he is now he won't be able to do everything he is doing for much longer but I know he is taking care of this path and the burial ground almost on a daily basis after walking for 30 min I spotted the blue and silver mausoleum that acts as the family monument the caskets of my parents where in there as well as other family members I didn't get to know, Mammy was sitting on one of the many benches that where around the beautiful mausoleum. One look and you could tell that Hector took especially good care of this place not a grain of grass was looking longer than the other, and there were no weeds between the flowers everything was spot-on. Mammy was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't realize I was there until I sat next to her, she looked at me let out a long sigh looked at the mausoleum, and then began talking I know she didn't want me to talk, she want me to listen so I did.
-You know Ace your mother was ecstatic when she learned she was pregnant your dad was just as much maybe more seeing how he was so paranoid with everything your mother was doing Layla would go on a walk without telling your dad that he would turn the mansion upside down trying to find her (giggles) your mother with how mischievous she was made it a daily occurrence after that 'hahaha' your dad must have lost half of his hair life expectancy with all the stunts your mother pulled back then. You are a lot like your mother on this point I know you always have a purpose when doing something so I never bought it I knew that you knew what you were doing, when Anthony called me from New York and told me about the accident I was devastated but I had to be strong because you where still there and I am glad to see your mother in you every day and much more. She was such a beautiful human being she was smart, playful, and optimistic about human nature more than anybody I ever knew she used to say "Throughout history, a cynical view of human nature has always been a legitimization of power," and "A hopeful view of human nature leads to institutions with more freedom.'' She helped this country more than any woman of the Smith family ever did! I miss her terribly she was like a daughter to me and now that you are going to leave soon it brought so much memory so I came here to talk with your mother, thanks for lending an ear to the ranting of an old lady little Ace.
-I consider you like my grandmother and I am sure my mother was also taking you as a mother figure just like Lena is mine so before I start talking about what I was going to talk to you about before coming here I will say this, I love you, Mammy
She looked at me for a second and then began crying I wrapped my left arm around her shoulder so that she could lean into me and stayed there in silence until her tears had dried off.
-Thank you Ace, so what were you talking about before messing with this old lady's emotions you wanted to talk to me about something?
-Yes Mammy I need your help with a plan of mind you surely also noticed how my Uncle and Lena loved each other but are just beating around the bush about their feelings for one another well I plan to make it happen before I leave, and it is damn time for them to have children's and give me a niece or nephew or better both if they wait for more than this it will be hard and also dangerous for Lena to get pregnant so I need your help. I was thinking about making Lena my prey while yours will be my Uncle what do you think?
-hahaha yes Ace we should indeed do something for the both of them, I honestly thought it would happen sooner or later but never in my wildest dream would I have been able to guess that your Uncle was this much of a coward when it comes to his love life. Helena is probably just scared of doing something out of line or something stupid like this she thinks too much I tell you, alright I'm in.
-Great we got 4 months to do so but with you as my ally Mammy I know we can do it! Are you coming back with me to the mansion or do you want to stay here a little longer?
-I will stay here a little bit longer don't worry about me i will wait for Nigel to come get me before diner
-Alright let's talk about our plan in more detail tonight after dinner i will visit you guys and tell Nigel I want to taste the new tea leaves that he got (giggles)
Martha P.O.V
This child, ''Did you see that from up there Layla your child is a good man he grew up just fine. I was worried he would grow up to be like those snobbish brats with how Anthony pampered him and the fact that he didn't really get out of the estate and made friends also was un subject of concern but look at him wanting to help his Uncle and Helena that's not what a selfish person would do and he is a sensible person just by how he took the time to just listen to me talking about you.''
20 minutes later I got up from the bench I was sitting ready to go back to my house and most of the workers except Helena we have our own little village on the island just 2 km south of this place that's where all workers got their house so I took the path that leads to my house, after 5 minutes or so of walking right in the middle of the path Ace was waiting there, I sighed to myself and said
-was my lie not convincing enough? I asked him.
-humph just like you know me I know you as well let me walk you home Mammy.... also Nigel told me that he was taking the Rolls-Royce for maintenance yesterday and that he would be back a little bit after 7 tonight hahaha
-pfff hahaha so my lie was convincing I just took the wrong target as an alibi
He gave me his arm like a real gentleman, and on the way back we didn't talk enjoying each other presence in silence he took me home and then left after kissing me on the cheeks '' what a day I thought''
