Chapter 18: Father's demise
POV Apollonia
'It has been four days when will brother wake up, Mother is surely worried about us.'
I glanced into the tree hollow letting out a sigh then turned my head back towards that wyvern. It must have been starving to have attacked us, mother told me that most monsters know instinctively that attacking a dragon will only result in death.
Why hasn't it started to decay though, it has been four days surely I would have been able to smell the rot by now.
Over the past few days no other monsters came close to the two carcasses, it must have been because sister and I are still here that nothing has come to try and eat.
Just as I was thinking that I heard movement from the tree hollow, quickly turning my head I saw brother stir in his sleep.
'Hopefully this means he is going to wake up soon.'

POV Valorian
Memories of my ancestors flashed through my mind some going by so quickly that I almost had no time to process their meaning before they where gone, others dragged on for what felt like years. I felt my conciseness latch onto one of and I felt myself being pulled within.
Surrounding me were the massive sides of a valley, below my massive frame a river ran through the center of this valley. At its back I could hear a water fall that cascaded down the valleys side. Although my body was easily as large as grandmothers the walls still dwarfed me, they must have been at least a thousand feet high.
I don't know how but I felt like I was here for a purpose, why would I be laying in a valley? It was almost as if I was waiting for someone.
All of a sudden time lurched forward, then slowed as I started to pick up the vibrations of something large moving towards me from the entrance of the sprawling valley.
lifting my head my reptilian eyes caught sight of a massive host of humans, thousands of banners flapping in the wind, and in the sky I could see countless wyvern riders hovering above the human army.
I felt a pang of betrayal, though I didn't know what my purpose was here I knew that the army was not supposed to be here. I heard a hundreds of horns blast from atop the valleys walls as I looked up to see more banners now lining the top.
"I come to broker an agreement and you come here to kill me, truly humans are the most vile creatures to have ever walked the earth!" I roared causing the walls of the valley to tremble.
Rising from the valley floor I attempted to make my accent, only to find that the sky had been locked through the humans vile use of mana.
"I will kill you all!" I roared again charging my dragons breath then unleashing it upon the human host that was advancing upon me from the entrance of the valley.
As the deep red flames impacted the vanguard the humans where turned to ash instantly, I then redirected the flame towards the main force, only to be rebuffed by another magical shield.I pushed my mana into my breath glands only for the shield to start to crack as black tendrils lapped against it.
Suddenly I felt a sharp pain from my wing, looking over I could see a huge harpoon embedded in the membrane. Halting my river of flame I redirected my attention to the force at the top of the valley. Forming a spell in front of my figure I started to charge my dragons breath yet again, only this time using the spell at a sort of lens to focus it onto a single point.
As I was about to unleash my fury another harpoon sunk into my back, but this one was fired from the army on the ground and had a chain attached to it pinning me to the valley floor. Time started to rush forward once again, the battle raging, the once beautiful valley was now a wasteland of human corpses and fire, my body had so many harpoons sticking out of it that I looked like a porcupine.
As time continued to pass a few days had passed as the battle went on, the humans had sustained massive losses. But I could see my movements getting slower and slower, after a week had passed my body slumped to the valley floor, the humans roaring in a cry of victory.
I was to exhausted to move.
"My dear Tanaca, I wish I could have been their for our children. Raise them well. Goodbye my beloved."
A bright white light flashed in my vision and then everything went dark.
Jolting away I could feel that my heart was beating rapidly and my breathing erratic, Hearing that I had woken up my sister rushed inside.
"Brother are you alright, you were asleep for a week." Apollonia said.
I was still in to much shock to to respond.
'Tanaca the dragon had said. Was that a memory from father?'
my shock gave way to boiling rage and I instinctively let out a bellowing roar.
"I will kill them all! Every last fucking one of them!" I roared shaking the massive tree that I had been resting in, making branches fall from its canopy and hit the ground.
The blood lust that was wafting off of me must have been extremely potent as both of my sisters where staggering in place with looks of concern.
"Brother what happened?! you only just woke up! You are safe nothing is here!" Apollonia yelled at me.
Taking deep breaths I retracted my aura and looked at Apollonia, rage still burning bright in my eyes. "Sister have you seen the last moments of father through our heritage yet?" I said still seething with rage.
"No, Mother said we would see it eventually but that it might take years. Why are you asking?" Apollonia said
"Because I just did." I responded curtly before walking past my sisters and began to tear into the wyverns body, as I was hungry from being asleep for so long. I felt a small amount of mana held within the beast flow into my being, but at this moment I couldn't care less.
I only had one thing on my mind. How can I become stronger to avenge my father.
