Chapter 17: 17

As blow after blow landed on the man, Hong's hopes of leaving unhindered ,grew more and more. But one must be above the ground to fall down.

Amidst the blows raining down on him, the spiritualist began to break through the black gold realm. Horrified, Hong increased the speed of blows, each punch flying faster than bullets leaving from a gatling gun. But it had no use. Seconds later the aura of a black gold rank started to eminate from the battered body of the man, forming an aura around him, making Hong retreat, wondering who the true protagonist of this world was .

"HA HA HA HAAAA.... so this is what being a black gold rank spiritualist means" the man expressed as he relished the feeling with his eyes closed. Energy around them grew more violent as the normal human sized spiritualist grew into a ten foot giant version of his demon spirit form.

Wounds started to heal up and the wind began to move more violently as the man began to consolidate his new power.

"I should thank you" the man continued arrogantly , "thanks to you, I was able to break into this level after five years.. "

"Putich!"

He had no time to finish his words as Hong drove his electric clad hand , elbow deep into the man's heart. Kakashi style.

As Hong had guessed beforehand, when a person was breaking through, they were rendered immobile for quite a while. Even Nei Li had to wait with his eyes closed, mid battle when he broke through to the five fate realm. Hence it is their most vulnerable time period. And if they don't have plot armour like Ye Zong when he broke into the legend rank, mid battle breakthroughs can turn into life threatening problems.

Pleased with his judgement, Hong pulled out his blood covered palm out of the man's chest when he heard an ominous cackling .

"Khe khe khe. Fool"

Soul force rampaged as the man began to glow brighter by the second. Hong barely had time to wrap the dying man in a hastily made power dampening formation before an explosion rocked his world. The only thought in his mind at the moment was regret.

"I should've gone for the head"

His body flew high in the air, tumbling and twisting while Hong did his best to reduce the harm befall on his body to no avail.

As his body moved at near sonic speeds, Hong felt his ribs shatter, forearms break and skull crack. Pain assaulted him as he felt some of his skin rip off to the blast while a few joints dislocate. But what hurt him the most was him losing his newly made flying knives. The most versatile weapon in his possession.

As he cried out mentally to lament the fate of his knives, he fell into the green canopy beneath him after flying a few hundred meters.

"Crack"

"Thud"

"Thwip"

Branches and leaves repeatedly slapped his body, like a woman would when she finds her man cheating. He fell, slowing down at each impact. And very soon, he found himself embracing the hard dirt of the earth.

Doing a one over of himself, he found himself physically incapable of movement at the current time period. All of his limbs were massively damaged and there seemed to be massive amounts of internal damage in his chest area.

This did not bode well. Converting nearly all his internal energy into blood qi, Hong began to consciously move the blood in it's supposed path while using it to hold and realign the broken bones in place. Then converting the remainder into yang qi, Hong directed it to the most vital and most damaged areas, performing a quick and basic healing.

There were multiple fractures and surface wounds, but they would need to be addressed later. Then standing up shakily, Hong began hobbling uphill.

The peaks of the saint ancestor mountains were covered in snow, providing a hospitable environment to snow wind beasts. And snow was made of water, something that Hong needed the most right now. And since he was not thrown down hill but rather uphill, Hong deduced that he should be able to come across a small stream of melting snow or even normal snow in few hundred meters.

Sure enough, the sound of water trickling caught Hong's ears after wobbling for a while. Moving as fast as his body would let him without reopening his wounds, he reached a small but clear stream of sparkling water. Wasting no time, Hong kneeled before plunging his cupped hands, gauntlets and all, into the water before drinking as if he had gone without water for three days.

After that, he used his last remaining strength to pull out a piece of meat from his emergency stash before gobbling it as fast as he could. And by the the time he swallowed the last mouthful, he was already in the embrace of his dream land.
