Chapter 2: Robot

Sun Jake finally understood what was going on. Why were there doors on the ceiling and the floor, and why were those walls were all metal.

Because that wasn't a door, it was a space capsule, and he realized that since he woke up, he had been walking sideways on the walls!

After being shocked for a while, Sun Jake stretched his face forward, pressed against the glass, and began to carefully examine. Although it was gray, he was sure that the planet was Earth.

However, there were some changes compared to the previous situation. The blue planet was completely surrounded by a heap of gray metallic debris, as if it had been covered by a veil of ashes.

All that metallic debris was satellites; a variety of satellite debris surrounded the entire planet.

Some of these satellites were so large that Sun Jake could vaguely distinguish their outlines with the naked eye, showing how large they were.

"So many satellites; what year is it, after all?" Sun Jake was quite certain that, with the technology of the time he remembered, he wouldn't be able to do something like this, even if he considered the five lost years of memory.

And when Sun Jake shifted his gaze from Earth and looked to the left, he was instantly paralyzed. A silver-gray ring of planets, like a belt, encircled Earth. And the Moon, which should have been there, had disappeared.

Most of the ring of planets was composed of rocks, spacecraft, and space station debris, and he realized he was right in the middle of it.

At this moment, Sun Jake finally understood where he had been since he woke up—in a large, stationary space surrounded by a ring of lunar planets.

But then came the second question: how could he get back?

Being in a space station in space and the station appearing to be semi-abandoned, getting back to Earth seemed to be even harder than going up to the skies.

However, Sun Jake didn't need to solve this problem, as the cruel reality had already solved it for him.

The shaking throughout the space station is increasing, and the screen behind me keeps flashing incessantly, even getting a little hot to the touch.

Sun Jake, shocked, discovers that the red dot he had touched seems to have broken the electrical balance that had been maintained in this place for so long.

With these changes, Sun Jake sees the terrible transformation outside the glass, as the space station, which resembles a spinning top, slowly uproots itself from the planet's rings, tilting towards the Earth's atmosphere.

An instant shiver runs down your spine and into your brain. "Holy shit! That means we're going to fall straight back! I wanted to go back, but this isn't how I wanted to go back!"

"What to do! I have to do something!" With his forehead beginning to break out in a cold sweat, Sun Jake quickly approaches the flashing screen and realizes that nothing he does has any reaction. He braces his hands on the glass and quickly moves away, floating towards other rooms.

Perhaps because he had activated something, some closed doors could also be opened. Desperate and in a cold sweat, Sun Jake continues to search desperately for a last chance of survival, be it an evacuation ship or anything that will keep him alive.

"Quick, quick, quick!" Sun Jake can already feel the increased centrifugal force on the space station due to its turbulent movements, and he understands that he has little time left.

Cargo compartments, exercise compartments, and a variety of capsules are found by Sun Jake.

With a "bang," Sun Jake pushes the semi-locked door forcefully, and a row of robots, each individually tethered to the wall, ceiling, and floor, appears before him.

Except for their reverse-jointed iron feet and eyes that are a row of monitors, the robots are mostly human-like.

He has no time to marvel at the technology of these robots; he just wants to know if they know where the evacuation ship is.

Seeing them, Sun Jake feels as if he's seeing his last hope, so he quickly unbuckles his belts and starts searching for the robots' switch.

After fumbling around, when Sun Jake's fingers pass over a screen under the robot's arm, the substitute monitor for the robot's eyes suddenly lights up, displaying two simple eye icons.

"Hello? Hello!? Can you hear me? Where's the evacuation ship? Where's the evacuation ship?!" Sun Jake grabbed the robot, which was floating due to the lack of gravity, and quickly asked questions.

The robot answered immediately: "kesiskapaketetnedddng105070: The data package in Chinese has been successfully uploaded," in a calm but mechanical voice.

"Dear user, welcome to use Taipai Technologies' products; please customize the name of this product."

"What?! Are you kidding?! So complicated?!"

"Name customization successful: Please select the initial mode." Three options appeared on the robot's screen: Guard Mode, Servant Mode, and Entertainment Mode.

Sun Jake, who was in a hurry, quickly clicked on the guard mode, but then various other options popped up immediately. He really hadn't expected that the new robot would require so many settings to use.

As the trembling of the space station caused some space cabin parts to shake off and float in the air, Sun Jake finally completed the settings.

"Hello, Sun Jake. I am happy to serve you with such a troublesome task." Two smiling eyes appeared on the robot's display.

"Do you recognize this place? It's about to collapse!! Do you know where there are escape pods or spaceships?" Sun Jake's tone was urgent.

Unexpectedly, the robot actually responded. "User level one red alert, automatic alarm full video and audio recording activation, emergency rescue satellite positioning, no response, network connection failure, insufficient data, unable to provide rescue."

At this moment, a terrifying metal creaking sound came from outside, as if the entire space station were about to be torn apart. The fear of death caused Sun Jake's body to tremble uncontrollably.

Just as he was about to give up on the useless robot and find another way, the robot suddenly made a new move.

"Link to unknown subnet 12128c1, data collection complete, rescue plan failed, reason: insufficient logical thinking ability, unable to understand subnet data logic, please agree to root permission authorization, agreement will initiate AI logic system iteration based on subnet data, determining: rescue probability will increase by 323."

"Agree! Agree!" Although Sun Jake didn't quite understand what the other party was saying, he understood that the probability of rescue was increasing.

"System iteration initiated," a progress bar appeared on the robot's display.

And at that moment, the entire cabin suddenly split open, and a metal plate came towards the robot's head like a guillotine.

Sun Jake grabbed his metal arm and pulled it towards himself, but he forgot that he was in a weightless state. As he pulled the robot over, under the action of momentum conservation, he ended up in the robot's position.

Seeing the metal plate about to pierce his head, Sun Jake kicked the robot hard, and the metal plate almost grazed his face.

Under this thrust, Sun Jake kept hitting the wall until he stopped, not even having time to catch his breath. A rapidly spinning nut flew towards his neck like a bullet.

Just as the nut was about to pierce Sun Jake's neck, an iron hand suddenly reached out from the side. With a "clang," the two collided, sparking a shower of sparks, and the nut was knocked far away.

Sun Jake followed the metal arm and found that the robot he had just activated had used its metal body to shield his left side.

The robot slowly lifted its metal head and locked eyes with Sun Jake.

"Oh my god, what a fucking ridiculous name." The robot spoke.
