Chapter 3: Primordial Resin

"How was class today?"

"The same as the usual, but I am better than what they think of me so I just ignore them" said Jace to his father.

Jared gave his son a bitter smile and ruffle his head "I'm sorry you have to go through all that but know this, I will make sure to get you better in no time, my boy" said Jason.

Jace just smiled and nodded before greeting his aunt Janice.

"And here I thought I was a ghost" said Janice with a pout while pretending to be annoyed.

Jace chuckled at her antics and wanted to say something before he started to feel dizzy causing him to nearly fall to the ground if not for the servant holding him.

Jared quickly took his son from the servant and looked at his sister "I will be taking my leave now, I have to take Jace to his room now" he said as he quickly vanished from her sight.

"[Sigh] does he not know that he has a sick child with him, look at him running with such speed" Janice complained before going to her own resident.

Meanwhile all of these was seen by James while seated on his seat in the Meeting Hall "should I send him there to get that item for the boy?" He said as he placed his hands on his chin.

"You should, he is our grandson and I can't let him die" said a woman with white silver hair who walked out of a door that was around the corner of the Hall.

James looked up to see his wife walk in with a frown clearly indicating she knew about what transpired between Jared and Jason earlier and also Jace fainting just now.

"You know that place is dangerous and it might cost him his life"

"Do I look like I care? It was his fault in the first place so he should fix it" said the woman who looked sideways and continue "all I want is just to see that boy smile once again, laugh like he used to when he was ignorant of how people think about him, I just want my grandson to run to me anytime he sees me, that's all I want, is it too much to ask?"

James sighed as he knew what his wife was talking about, he too remembered the time when Jace would come running to him even though it was for a brief moment and calling him grandpa, he missed the smile of the innocent child but now anytime the boy smiled, all he could see was a fake smile which he used to cover up his scars and pain.

That is not the life that a 16 years old boy should live, he was robbed of his childhood because of his sickness.

"Sending Jared there is akin to giving him a death sentence, are you sure you want him to go there?" James asked his wife.

The woman frowned knowing what her husband said was true but she was adamant to make her grandson well "he is capable and I believe he could handle that monolith all by himself, he is the fastest man on the planet for a reason" she said clearly proud of her son.

Jared Norman, the only known Zeta level Gifted in the entire United Republic except from his father.

He gained the nickname Light Speed due to his powers. He awaken a Zeta level gift known as Supernatural Speed with an additional control over the elements of lightening and wind.

He is so fast that people thinks he is a teleporter when he is clearly just a speedster but very powerful one who defies common sense.

"Miranda are you 100% sure you want him to do this?" James asked his wife once again.

Miranda nodded and smiled "I am and if you don't still think he could do it, then you can have someone join him, it is not that hard" she said and left the Hall to spy on her grandson.

James sighed as he rubbed his forehead while thinking of the headache that is coming his way.

He called out a servant stationed outside who immediately ran inside and bowed "go get Jared for me and tell him he should come quickly" he said and the servant immediately left.

A few minutes later, Jared appeared in front of his father making James frown "I said no running in the Hall, why can't you all just listen to a simple instruction?" James asked.

Jared just smiled wryly and scratched the back of his head "I'm sorry, I came here as soon as I made sure Jace's needs were attended to and the way the servant came to me made me thought it was something really urgent" he said.

James waved his hands indicating to Jared that it is enough "how is the boy?" He asked his son.

"He is fine, just a little stressed out, nothing major"

"[Sigh] if you had listened to me none of this would have ever happen in the first place" said James earning a frown from Jared but James did not care about it and continued "but that's not what I called for you. You are here because there is something that might be able to help Jace, a vial containing a very potent medicine known as the Primordial Resin. A medicine which is said to even bring back the dead"

When Jared heard that, his previous grievances against his father was gone and what replaced it was happiness and hope.

Before he could even revel in his happiness, his father coughed bringing him back to reality "I know you are happy, we all are but it is not very easy to get a hold of this vial as it is located at one of the most dangerous place on the planet, the Viol's Ruins, do you wish to venture into that dreadful place for your son?"

Jared snickered at his father's question, he was now close to getting a cure for his son's strange illness and he is not going to let anything stand in his ways, even if it means only him against the world, he is going do just that much less an ordinary ruins.

"Don't tell Jace, I will be back before he even knows it" he said a vanished once again.

"I hope you come back safely, son"
