Chapter 11: Guild monopoly and limited seats

Glitch's eyes lit up as he spotted a group of players arguing among themselves. If he was not wrong, then all these guys should be leaders who work directly under guilds' commands.

In Universal Online, guilds played a huge role in player success.

A guild was not only helpful in competing quests and gathering resources, but also played a crucial role in promotion.

Universal Online was not all about managing your species. No, the game focused on limited promotion.

All the 1000 group rulers on the planet would have to compete for less than 100 or even 50 spots to reach kingdom level.

The same for the higher levels. All the kingdom-level rulers then compete for less than 10 -20 world ruler spots.

Due to the nature of the game for success, players needed to form groups to support each other. All of that eventually led to a few groups having a monopoly over the promotion seats on planets, then star systems, and more areas under their control.

All the old guilds had already established themselves in the middle and core areas of galaxies. This was why the newer organizations chose outer regions to survive.

However, in the past 4 years of the game, few organizations successfully gained enough strength to snatch a few start systems from older guilds.

The gang he was part of was also aiming for something similar. He shook his head and focused back on the group before him.

All those players must have a direct connection with different organizations that gained a monopoly over this planet.

From his past life, he knew that even the Eagle gang was just a part of a bigger organization.

He was sure that more than 80% of the players standing in that group would get the promotion without doing much.

But it was funny that these guys who should not even care about trials were fighting among themselves. It was clear the emergence of these 2 events was enough to shake them.

He was interested to see how these guys would deal with the current situation.

'Will they take separate action or go with the safe option?' As he thought, he saw them nodding like they reached some kind of agreement.

He fought the temptation to approach them and eavesdrop on their conversation. The risk of getting noticed was too much. He maintained self-control and stayed away.

He saw a few of them motion something to others and then all of them spread in different directions.

A few players moved past near him, and he heard them shouting some random letter.

At this, he placed his hand on his head and started laughing. "Haha, these bastards chose safe options."

He stood up and moved back to the market. In the market, he saw a few other guys shouting some code words, and many players responded to that and started forming groups.

It was clear those guys chose to expose their presence to other members. In his last life, his group did not even know about them until much later in the game.

It was clear that these players could not let go of the temptation of reward for two big events.

He smiled at this result. Now he would get a clear idea of how many guys were on the planet from the Eagle Gang.

He jumped down the market and formed a weird hand symbol from his left hand where both his pinky and index finger touched his thumb while the other 2 fingers remained straight up.

This was his group calling symbol. As he moved around with his hand up, someone shouted at him, "Hey you!"

He turned around and saw 2 players in rags walking toward him. One of them asked, "Who are you?"

Not replying, he looked up and said, "Boss Bruno is great." It was embarrassing, but that idiot boss chose self-praise as the code word.

As he said that, another guy said in a low tone, "We work for Vandra Bhai."

He nodded and then placed his hand around both guys' necks and asked in a deep tone, "Where's boss?"

At this other two of them straightened their backs and said, "Ah Bhai, there is an order from the boss. Everyone to gather near the left side of the plaza."

He nodded and walked in the opposite direction. At this two of them said, "Bhai, it opposite direction."

He clicked his tongue, "I know, I just need to get some stuff. You guys go search for others. I will be there in a few minutes." Before they could say anything, he walked away with a stiff straight back.

He did not plan to waste his advantage. That was why he tried his luck and acted like an old member of the group. Well, he was lucky those guys were just some recruits.

He stopped thinking about others and looked at different shops around him. There was no time to waste as 20 minutes had already passed. He needed to gear up for the next phase of his plan.

He opened his inventory. There he had 500 copper coins and around 4000 dog fangs.

The good thing about the game was that all the NPCs were more human than many players. This gave a haggler like him some advantage in buying stuff.

First, he walked to the butcher shop, and after some haggling, he got 2,000 copper coins for all the teeth.

Next, he entered a familiar blacksmith shop. Yesterday, he had already bought multiple trash swords from this shop. With 25 bronze coins in his hand, this time he decided to buy a high-grade weapon.

In Universal Online, weapon grades were Trash-> Iron-> Copper-> Bronze-> Silver-> Gold-> Dark gold-> Epic-> Legend-> ??? and more.

Except for weapon grades, every weapon above Iron also had at least one inbuilt power in them. Like in this trial village, he saw multiple Copper-grade magic swords with slashing skills.

As he checked through the swords, he asked a young man standing opposite the counter, "What is the prize range for iron and copper grade swords?"

.....

Note: Bhai is the same as big bro. It is a team used to give respect to someone who is like a big brother to you.
