Chapter 54: A Star Actress Calista

"I'm honored that you recognized me. This time, I got to work with teacher Evadne again on her work. I look forward to."

I think all the actors are different from what they appeared on TV, it's the same for Calista, as she was different from the TV I saw.

According to her profile, she would have been around 160cm tall, but she seemed shorter than that.

The face is small, and the hands are also small.

Is she really twenty-six years old?

When I grabbed the hand that was extended to me first, it felt so weak that I was worried that it might break if I held it too hard.

In addition, Calista was a surprisingly humble person, considering her fame.

When we held hands, she repeatedly bowed her head and said hello.

The overly polite attitude made me not know what to do with myself.

"Oh, no, I just... It is truly an honor to meet you too."

Okay. In fact, it was an honor for an ordinary person like me to be able to meet and talk like this.

The only title I have is that my mother is actress Evadne.

There was no reason for a famous actress like Calista to please me.

"Mom, what happened? Why is Ms. Calista here?"

I whispered to my mother, unable to hide my embarrassment.

A manager or coordinator would understand, but the person here was an A-list actress.

This is not a status where I can meet privately like this.

"I was thinking that Cali would be great daughter-in-law, don't you think?"

"Mom!"

I couldn't help but be taken aback by my mother's words, which she passed off with a leisurely smile.

The content could have been rude to the other actor, or it could have felt like sexual harassment or abuse of power by a senior actor.

However, Calista did not seem to have heard or was pretending not to notice; she was just smiling softly.

However, should we say that it is the charisma of the human being itself, because of Calista's unique force, even the smiling face felt somehow scary.

A beauty that looks like it was put together by a computer. That was an actress named Calista.

It was nice when I saw it on TV, but when I saw it in real life like this, it was extremely burdensome.

The saying that she's so pretty that it's scary.

How can you take someone like her and make her your daughter-in-law... What on earth are you thinking mom?

I don't even know how I came here.

"Hehe. Don't think too hard about it. Even though she's an actress, if you take off one layer, she's just an ordinary girl. You know?"

Mom whispered in my ear as if she was giving advice.

That's what I know better than anyone else. The more special people appear on TV, the less special they actually are.

But does that story also apply to this person in front of me? She seems like she came from another planet.

"And since Cali treating us today, eat a lot."

"Uh, really?"

"Yes, please eat a lot," Calista nodded.

This... It feels more uncomfortable.

Isn't this a situation where a senior actress introduces her son to a junior actress and makes them spend money?

Could it be that I am in the midst of the abuse of power in the entertainment industry that I have only heard about? If an article like 'Famous actress Evadne's controversy over abuse of power with a junior actress' appear

"Mom… It's okay if I don't eat meat."

"Rye, What are you imagining?"

"Imagine my mother being abusive to a junior actress?"

My mother laughed and slapped me on the back at my honest answer.

"This guy! You don't have to worry about anything strange. This is like Cali treating us for a favour she want from you."

"Hub? Is there anything I can do?"

I tilted my head at the unexpected story. Is there anything I can do to help this amazing person?

"Mr. Ryker, I heard you are reading the script together with teacher Evadne."

I couldn't help but be taken aback once again by the words of Calista, who switched to a serious mood.

"Yes? Oh, I do that, but… mom?"

I sometimes help my mom practice her acting at home, but not to the extent of talking about it anywhere.

Because I'm really, really just an amateur.

But does bringing up that story now mean that I should at least help Calista read the script?

This is ridiculous. I know my acting skills, it's nowhere enough to help Calista.

"Rye. Do you remember when I first came back to drama?"

"Huh. That's right, I remember."

Old memories come to mind.

I was a middle school student at the time and had barely improved to the point where I could imitate a normal person, and my mother was challenging to return to the screen at the time.

"At that time, I was in a really bad slump. So much so that I wondered whether I would be able to continue working as an actress. I was going crazy under the pressure of not being able to do good acting."

It was my first time hearing this story.

I was amazed that my mom appeared on TV, but I don't think the reviews of her acting were that good.

The drama itself was a failure, and my mother may have been pushed to the edge more than she thought.

I didn't know anything, but I remember that my mother's mood was different from usual as she prepared for the next work immediately.

And it was probably around that time that I started practicing the script with my mom.

"Thanks to your help at that time, I was able to come this far. Thank you, Rye."

At the same time, Mom squeezed the back of my hand.

The mother's affection was conveyed through the hand she held.
