Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Unique Class
Thousands of cards appeared before Kim Seojin, floating in the air.
All the cards looked completely identical. None of them had a symbol, making or any differentiating factor.
As Kim Seojin stared at the tower of identical cards surrounding him, he felt a sense of confusion welling up inside him.
That strange voice that appeared in his head had told him that he was going to be erased if he failed to select a card.
The others also told him to select a good card. But how could he choose a good one when he couldn't even differentiate between them?
That system voice had also told him that this was the year 2375? He remembered that the current year was supposed to be 2075. So did he somehow end up in the future? Was this place even earth?
He still had to find out what happened after the apocalypse began. He still had to find out about the fate of people precious to him. He still had to find out about her.
If it wasn't for the humans he saw previously, he would have thought that he had come to another world.
With time ticking away, he had to make a decision quickly.
He knew he could not allow himself to die here. If it was truly his second chance, then wasting it was a sin he could not afford.
Taking a deep breath, Kim Seojin closed his eyes and reached out his hand towards the cards.
As all the cards looked identical, there was no way to differentiate between them. He could only select one at random. And even if the card was bad, it was better than being erased.
In other rooms, the other humans also had the same choice. They had to select a card from thousands of cards around them. But there was one difference.
All their cards around them had different images carved on them. If one had the image of a joker, the other had the image of an Archer.
If one had the image of an ancient musician, another had the image of a warrior holding a sword.
All of them were selecting their cards based on the images since they had already made up their mind before entering this place.
In the last three hundred years, there were many batches that came before them. Humanity had evolved a lot, and the information about this place wasn't a secret.
They had all known about the secrets that only the Players could know.
Unlike them, Kim Seojin was completely ignorant. He was simply shoved in this place, without any rhyme or reason.
His fingers brushed against the smooth surface of the cards, and he let his intuition guide him.
He couldn't see any image on the cards, but he could sense a faint energy emanating from one of the cards, a subtle pull drawing him towards it.
Without hesitation, he plucked that card from the tower of cards.
As soon as he held the card in his hand, a surge of energy coursed through his body. Symbols began to glow on the surface of the card.
There was still no image on the card. There were only symbols that came alive. The symbols moved up the card, crawling up his hand.
Seeing the strange symbols move over his skin, Kim Seojin was confused. He tried to throw away the card subconsciously, but he couldn't open his fingers.
The card was stuck in his hand. His body refused to listen to him.
The ancient symbols kept moving up his skin until they finally settled on his back, creating what looked like a magic circle and a connected star between that circle.
The symbols were hidden by his clothes and Kim Seojin couldn't feel them. The card that was stuck between his fingers also started transforming.
Right before him, the empty card transformed into specks of light that moved straight into his eyes.
His eyes, that were previously hazel, changed color. It looked like someone had placed colored contact lenses on his eyes, but this had become the new natural color of his eyes.
His pupils now had a silver shade, which made him look blind. But he could see everything clearly. No, he could see everything even better now.

The voices appeared in his head again, but this time, they were accompanied by a screen that appeared before him.
Just as he was about to examine the notifications further, a blinding light engulfed the room, and he found himself transported to a vast open field.
And just like that, he was back to the place from where he had disappeared.
The people who had taunted him were also there, all looking different. Some were wearing different clothes. Some were holding shields, while others were holding weapons like swords.
Some of them looked really happy, but there were also a few who looked angry or frustrated. No one was paying attention to him anymore.
"Since you are alive, it looks like you received a class?"
Once again, it was Lee Junho who noticed him.
When he had left, he was bare handed. But this time, he was holding a wooden staff that looked like it was carved by hand.
Lee Junho noticed Kim Seojin's gaze. A smirk appeared on his lips.
"Are you interested in this? This came with my class. I am an Arcane Mage."
Lee Junho only talked about his class, but the pride on his face was evident.
Kim Seojin wondered if it was really that big of a deal. Was it also a Unique Class like his?
He soon received an answer with the response of other people.
"Arcane Mage? Did someone say an Arcane Mage?"
"Isn't that the rare class that one of the current Top Rankers has?"
"The heck? Who is this lucky? Urgh, I only received a Dark Mage Class!"
"Dark Mage? I didn't even receive a mage, even though I took a card that looked like a mage card."
"You know what I received? An Alchemist! A freaking alchemist!"
The sharp reactions of people around him was enough for Kim Seojin to understand that Arcane Mage was truly a big class. But what was this class thing? He still didn't understand.
