Chapter 26: Bouquet garni part 2

**( Altair POV)**

Togg has been very accommodating to my curiosity giving me every creature and poison to look at. I thought his patience would soon run dry but I guess he was also testing the limits of my curiosity and patience.

A few hours later.

Altair: It was a pleasure looking through your collections. If you find any other interesting creatures, poison or books please don't hesitate to send a message.

Togg: It was a pleasure meeting you young Falcon. I had more fun in these three hours than I had in the past year. Let me know if you ever plan to visit the Island of Ib as I will be able to accompany you beyond the port of Ibben.

Altair: I take it that what we talked about would stay between the two of us.

Togg: I wouldn't be in this business for too long if I had a loose tongue, M'lord.

Although I hadn't shown my true face to him, however, I like to keep all my false faces a secret. This way when an enemy discovers something about me that I had set up for them, they will not doubt its credibility. I have to hide very carefully at least till the time I don't announce my presence in the game.

We exit to the deck and I see my guards anxiously waiting for me.

Andar: M'lord we had been anxious about your wellbeing….

Altair: The business took longer than usual as I was surprised by the sheer variety of his merchandise.

Altair: Andar take his details and give him the means to contact me in the future. I want you to pay the man twice the good's value for his time and hospitality. Also, send some of the guards to pick up the books I bought from inside the compartment.

I bought a baby manticore from him, Along with a few books and scrolls on poisons and wildlife. I was able to analyze hundreds of herbs, plants, reptiles, insects, etc. My mind is filled with many new unexpected findings that can be very useful along with a huge repository of poisons and toxins.

Altair: Togg I want you to send one of your capable men with me till the time you or I leave Kings Landing. I will pay both of you handsomely for his time with me.

Togg: I will send my right-hand man Gloin with you.

After all the books were packed we prepared to leave.

Altair: I wish you good winds on your sails.

I leave along with my entourage after I bid him farewell. There is a new member amongst my entourage. I brought along Gloin as a servant to help me learn the language of Ibben. I knew I would be able to completely learn the Ibbenese language including some dialects in the time I spent with him.

I can feel that due to my improving body, I can tap into more of my soul's power. Although it feels like I am not even able to drink a drop out of a large ocean that is my soul.

Although I have not yet completely gone through with all the data I collected I now guessed something interesting about the Mad king's madness. I am not stupid to take the risk of going near the mad king, just to verify my guess. At worst, I can keep things open-ended and work with all possibilities in mind. Although I have yet to verify the conjectures I feel like I am about 90% sure about this.

Basilisk blood is a very potent psychedelic drug that if diluted to non-toxic levels can induce violent and aggressive behaviour. It is not difficult to poison the king slowly leading him to madness.

There may be many suspicious parties who could have done this to the king. However, the one that stands out most is Tywin Lannister. However, in case it is not Tywin then there are a few other parties that could also play such a hand.

Right now Joanna is still alive and Tywin is the hand of the king. However, the signs of the king's bouts of madness can be seen way back. I don't think Tywin will poison the king over some disagreements but it is still a possibility as the king had once insulted Joanna.

There are also a few with a negligible possibility of involvement such as Varys. Altair was going through these thoughts on his way back to the Upper district near the Red Keep. When we reached the Inn where my father along with his Banner lords were staying for residence in the KingsLanding. Lords and the bannermen of different kingdoms were staying in different Inns throughout the upper district of the city. Most of the men had to be placed in smaller Inns and taverns. The whole capital was full of people.

The wedding would be held in a few days when guests from all major houses over the seven kingdoms come to celebrate in the festivities. I met my father in the courtyard of the Inn.

Jon: Andar I take it that your journey to the markets went smoothly.

Andar: Yes M'lord, the trip was without any accidents.

Jon speaking to me.

Jon: It took you a while, I was about to send some men to call you back as dusk is about to set. I hope you haven't spent all my allowance on your first day at King's Landing.

Altair: No there weren't many things that piqued my interest, although I bought a few interesting pets and books. The rest of your coins are safe with Andar, you can ask him if you need them back

Jon: Show me what pets have piqued your interest.
