Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Before The Birthday II
As I stepped into the main Gremory mansion I was assaulted by my sister Cecilia who appeared out of nowhere and attempted to hug me. Unfortunately for her my figure began to disappear and soon vanish to only appear behind her now. Sister's cheeks become puffed up and she glares back at me.
"Why do you always use those annoying talents of yours? I haven't been able to spend time with you because you always escape me! If only you never awakened Teleport and Illusionist this wouldn't be happening." My sister's complaints were ignored by me as I turn around and begin to walk away while once again rejoicing at fact of escaping the devil's clutches.
"Hey, hey wait up for me!" Cecilia shouted as she caught up to me and we both headed to dinner together.
After entering the dining room we both were greeted father and mother and went to our seats. As we sat down and began to eat dinner mother commented "You've grown so much Lazarus, it only feels like yesterday when you were born". She then sighs and reminiscence about the younger me.
"You said the same to Cecilia when she was about to turn 10 as well Altair but you are indeed correct, he has grown up a lot and very quickly" said my father as he chuckled.
"He has become more sneaky as well, hmph! Always using his talents to get away from me" Cecilia begins to sulk as she remembers the continuously growing amount of times I used my talents to avoid her and escape her demonic clutches.
While they conversed I quietly ate my food whilst listening to what they say.
Cecilia suddenly brought up "Rus what talent do you want to awaken tomorrow?" A commonly asked question among children if I have to say, their curiosity knows no bounds.
I stop eating to only look up and face my sister " I don't really know, but as long as it's useful I don't care what it is". After answering her question I continue to eat dinner.
"A boring answer, as expected of you. You still haven't awakened the sword talent that comes from mother's bloodline so there is a possible of you awakening it tomorrow. Just thinking about what talent you will I can't wait to find out" Cecilia giggles and starts imagining the talent I might awaken from the numerous possibilities p.
Dear sister, why does it look like you are more excited about the talent I will get than me when I am will be the one supposed to awaken it. Your actions and thoughts are simply to incomprehensible to me. I shake my head as she continues to list some talents which I might get. There is no need for me to guess the talent I will receive when I already know what it will be because of the MMORPG Dungeons and Mythical Creatures. It included detailed descriptions of a character's past which others might find unnecessary but I certainly didn't as it added more depth to the character.
"I have invited the Devalrue family, Florentin family and a few others as well for Lazarus's birthday" father claimed
"I remember that the Devalrue family has an heiress at the same age as Lazarus don't they, we should try push for an engagement if possible. When I saw her last time I knew she would turn into a beauty after growing up a little and she is already quite talented, they'd be a perfect match!" Mother claspsher hands at the idea, she seemed enthusiastic to marry me off, something new for once.
Cecilia's face turned ugly after hearing the word 'engagement' especially because it was related to me otherwise she couldn't careless. Speaking of mother did mentioned the Florentin family, another ducal ranked family like the Devalrue who have sworn allegiance to us. The heir to their family is much older than me so he won't be there at the academy but he was included in the game when the protagonist faced the Gremory's.
A sudden outburst came from sister "Brother won't be getting married!"
We all turned our attention to her, "He won't be getting married as long as I am alive so forget about the engagement". She folds her arms after the absurd declaration, like really woman why do you care if I get married or not, no who are to make the decision of me not marrying. Just mind your own business and look for a partner for yourself.
"Now, now sweetheart why are you so adamant on your brother not getting married?" Mother asked as Cecilia's words sounded so childish yet adorable that she sought to make it more of this ordeal.
"Brother only needs me, don't you brother?" She looked at me with absolute confidence while seeking for my agreement.
I say, "if you're going to get me engaged make sure it's not someone troublesome".
My response shocked my sister, she made an expression only done by those who were being betrayed by their most trusted individual. Hence why she began to throw a tantrum. Seeing this, I swiftly choose to retreat back to my room and leave the problem to my parents to solve.
After entering my bedroom I head towards the window and gaze at the silver moon as the moonlight reflected onto me.
"Julia's engagement with me" Lazarus mutters. As he thinks about it his face forms a smile of intrigue and curiosity.
"I wonder how our relationship will be, hopefully it will go well. Yes all I can do is hope that my zero experience in romance won't hinder our relationship as I wish to enjoy it, for it will be my first".
I close the curtains and head to sleep, finally entering a deep slumber after a few minutes.
